10/10 spot in Montreal for incredible Japanese. The way the restaurant is set up is fantastic as most seating is "bar" seating, authentically Japanese, so you can watch the staff prepare certain dishes (we got lucky & were sat right in front of the sushi counter). Excellent ambiance from the second you walk in & great music. As for the food, I have no words. The chirashi sushi was phenomenal - the fish was so fresh & tender with impeccable taste. Was so nice to see the wasabi be freshly prepared to order for each dish which impressed us. The aged duck was absolutely mouthwatering & would highly recommend. However, surprisingly to us, the star of the night was the fried chicken. I don't even know where to begin in describing the dish so all I will say is it is a *must* order. Plus we were pleasantly surprised by the portion size! We love fried chicken & this was hands down the best fried chicken either of us had ever tried. We'll be going back just for the chicken. Can't praise it enough. Service was good but a bit slow, although I think this is intentional from the restaurant so you can get a full experience. There was a bit of a hiccup where we didn't get one of our dishes but our server was a pro & took care of it immediately & made sure the issue was rectified & comped which we felt was super nice. Overall a truly hidden gem in Montreal that merits all of the 5 star reviews it has amassed. Cannot wait to go back asap & also check out Sans Soleil in the basement.
FOOD. GOOD. In all seriousness, every single item we had on Fleurs & Cadeaux's menu showed great attention to detail, with some unique fusion of savoury flavours. Everything was a highlight in its own regard. Nothing missed, even slightly. As such, I highly recommend the soy-based fried chicken, as well as the swordfish, tuna & salmon sashimi. The tofu, duck, & braised pork were also unparalleled dishes. To finish, although I consider their Crème Brûlée to have more so the consistency of a Crème Caramel (thicker), the combination of matcha & fresh blueberries made it an exquisite dessert. Also, honorable mention to the Yuné cocktail. Bang for your buck.

Overall a medium experience. Walked in having heard amazing things but left somewhat disappointed. The edamame/aubergine dish was served without any accompaniment -- reminiscent of a bowl of guacamole without chips. We ordered orange wine & received far less than a 6oz pour; disappointing at $14 a glass. We were impressed by the shirashu & pork udon dishes, but that's about it.
Everything was amazing here & easily one of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had. It was definitely a full experience more than just food. Server made us feel like we're visiting family & she was super warm & attentive. Food was really tasty & we ordered 5 different dishes & all were great. Their fried chicken was not exactly what we usually like, but we're glad we gave it a try. We had a great time here & will go back to this restaurant for sure next time we visit Montreal.
Our experience was less than impressive yesterday. It was not our first time at the restaurant & we were honestly disappointed. Mostly with the service. Our server was not very attentive making us wait too long for general service & did not have a very pleasant attitude. One of our dishes was lukewarm. We also thought the wine servings were on the cheap side, especially for the price.
We had high expectations coming to Fleurs & Cadeaux, as it was highly recommended to us but I think we might have just had a really bad service night. It didn't look understaffed, but we had to wait 15mn even with a reservation for a back corner bar seat (on a Wednesday...), asked for water repeatedly 20mn later when no one had come to see us & kept being forgotten, finally ordered 3 dishes that took over an hour to come (one of them being sashimi...) & the third dish was forgotten & came out half an hour later than the rest, cold. The staff kept doing shots with the couple next to us so that might account for the poor service? The preferential treatment created a weird vibe. Food was good, but not worth the bad experience. Out of principle I can't not give a tip, but this would have been one of those rare occasions I think no tip would have been justified. Fairly disappointed overall :(
They gave us a bar seat instead of a table although I made my reservation for only two people from 3 days before. There was no option to specify a table or a bar seat at the time of reservation. When I went to the restaurant, I saw an empty table for two that stayed empty until even after the kitchen was closed. It seemed like they have saved the table for their "special customers".
Also, they were out of at least two items on the menu, including the soy sauce ice cream & the miso aged duck which I really wanted to try because I've heard many good reviews for these dishes.
Our seats was close to the entrance & we smelled cigarettes from time to time from outside which was not pleasant.
Other than the mentioned downsides, the food was tasty & it was presented professionally. But I'll probably skip this restaurant next time.
My second visit. The vegetable dishes & mochi dessert are a little meh, but all other dishes we had (chicken, both noodle dishes, duck, tataki) were really fantastic. Nice wine selection & great, relaxed youthful service. I highly recommend.

Incredible food, drinks & service. The menu is honestly magical, & I am still thinking about many of the dishes we tried. Cannot wait to come back & bring more friends along!
The food was excellent. Inventive & delicious. The service was excellent & our servers knowledge of the dishes was spot on. They were able to guide us through our selection & it ended up being such a dynamite meal. Thank you!
