Review Summary

Dobe & Andy is widely celebrated as a premier destination in Montreal Chinatown for authentic Cantonese barbecue, with many diners praising the exceptional quality of their signature char siu, roast pork, and duck. The generous portions, flavorful scallion ginger oil, and comforting wonton noodle soup frequently stand out as highlights, making it a go-to spot for both quick lunches and large group feasts. While experiences vary regarding service speed and dining atmosphere, many patrons appreciate the warm, welcoming, and helpful nature of the staff, noting that the restaurant offers great value and a nostalgic, no-frills Hong Kong vibe that keeps them coming back.

My wife & I used to come here semi-regularly before covid. They closed for a short while during & after. Since then we came by to look at the menu , It seemed different, & their kiosk across the hall ( now a Phillipino restaurant) was closed down, & we decided to move on.
Well today we decided to try it out again after a few years , & I'm glad we did.
We had the four meat platter ( two kinds of roast pork, duck, & chicken with rice & vegetable, an extra side of wok sautéed green vegetable, & split a wonton soup. Everything was very good , the service, the food, & the atmosphere. The price charged was also fair. We will be putting Dobe & Andy back on our restaurant rotation .

Went for lunch & got the duck chow mein. It was very good, everything tasted very fresh. The duck was cooked well & the base sauce was delicious. Good portion size, very filling.

All food is delicious. We finished eating all foods. This is the most delicious Chinese cuisine in China town of Montreal. We love roast pork, duck & fried rice. The price is ok.
Highly recommend for all tourists.

We were in town for a week for a swim meet & I was chaperoning a group of 11 16-17 yr olds. On the first night the kids ordered their own plates for pick up. & they loved it. It is hard to find places that can feed a growing teenager with one plate, & Dobe & Andy did it. The kids loved their Char Siu, Pork Belly & BBQ duck & wanted more.

Special shout out to Alex who helped me organize our catering order, making sure we have a variety of dishes besides the meats. Alex does such an amazing job in the authentic Cantonese barbecue, juicy, tender & flavourful. We absolutely enjoyed our meals.

Thank you Alex, & thank you Dobe & Andy.

DO NOT GO People! It's no longer the authentic Cantonese BBQ restaurant after they changed owner/chef. Big disappointment in the drop of food quality, we tried all four meats: charsiu is super fat, soy chicken has weird taste, duck comes cold & without plum sauce, & roasted pork came cold & not crispy at all!! Also much smaller portion in meat comparing to before… steam rice was okay but lowmein is overcooked & not'al dente. & the price went more expensive than Chinese bbq restaurant in New York, is it a joke?? only improvement: better attitude from non-Chinese waiter/tress, but also much slower in serving food.

Dobe & Andy is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Montreal! Every dish is packed with flavor, the portions are generous, & the service is always warm & efficient.

If you're visiting for the first time, don't miss their BBQ pork (char siu)-it's perfectly caramelized, tender, & incredibly flavorful. Their crispy roast pork has amazingly crunchy skin with juicy meat, & the roast duck is rich, succulent, & a must-order. The wonton noodle soup is another standout, featuring springy noodles, delicate wontons, & a comforting, savory broth.

Everything tastes fresh & authentic, making it easy to see why this place is always busy. Whether you're craving Cantonese barbecue or a comforting bowl of noodles, Dobe & Andy consistently delivers. Highly recommended but needs improvement with the waiting time.

Typical delivery mentality.. if you don't see the customer, you could serve them garbage.
Problem with most restaurants is the inequality between dining in & delivery. Delivery is like the poor overlooked stepchild.
Ordered 3 meets the roasted pork or pork belly was all belly, not an ounce of pork. The barbecued pork was negligible. There was a couple of small, literally tiny pieces of way overcooked pork & the duck well, there was no meat at all. Just bones, totally inedible, bad job, guys.

Simple, relaxed interior with great meats (the duck was a standout) & no-frills service. Waitress was wonderful. Overall 5/5 for me!

Dobe & Andy- a classic Chinese roast meats institution in Montreal.

As someone who needs a rice fixing at least once a week when traveling, I've been to Dobe & Andy every time I've been to Montreal, totaling 6+ times over the last 4 years. So my review is one part a love letter to the scallion oil that combines with the fattiness of the roast meats, & one part nostalgia.

If you come here, you are here for the meat platter. Char siu is solid, chicken is solid, roast pork belly is the standout. Duck skin is inconsistently crispy, but has never been underseasoned. With the scallion oil, any combination with the roast pork will hit the spot.

The other rice & noodle dishes are solid as well. We're here for the classic roast meats & classic Chinese dishes, not creative culinary takes. Dobe & Andy hits exactly the right spot- that of a weary traveler looking for a meal to reset the brain & stomach.

Bathroom can be difficult, as you need a key to access the stalls located in a separate part of the building.

Special shoutout to Ricky, who made our last visit memorable. Always relaxed & friendly service.
