I wish I could give this restaurant a higher rating. Unfortunately, our first visit on New Year's Eve was disappointing. We waited quite a long time before anyone came to take our order, & the service felt a bit disorganized with different servers coming to our table.
We were told that two of the main highlights of the special menu were already unavailable: the pulpo as an appetizer & the arroz con mariscos as a main. Our reservation was at 8:30 p.m., so it was frustrating that these signature dishes were already sold out, especially knowing the restaurant was fully booked & offering a limited New Year's menu.
The waitress was kind & apologetic, & management tried to offer a tiradito instead of the main dish, but as this is normally an appetizer & much less expensive, it did not feel like an equivalent replacement. They also offered us a shot at the end, which was appreciated, though it was something many guests received due to the occasion.
That said, the restaurant itself is beautiful, the staff is friendly, & the food we did have was delicious. We especially enjoyed the pork carpaccio & the braised lomo saltado. While the prices are quite high for the portions, this is understandable given the location in Old Port.
Overall, it's a lovely place with great potential, but better planning & organization on busy nights like New Year's Eve would make a big difference in the experience.
Absolutely loved my experience at Capisco in Old Port! The food was outstanding - rich, authentic Peruvian flavours that truly stand out. Every dish was beautifully presented & bursting with taste. The service was friendly, attentive, & made us feel genuinely welcome. The atmosphere is cozy & vibrant, perfect for a night out or a special meal. If you're looking for high-quality Peruvian cuisine in Old Montreal, this place is a must-try. I'll definitely be back!
Shrimp causa was delicious. Octopus was gorgeous but could have had more flavour. My italian friend loved the focaccia but I just found it alright. Fried seafood was great. My two cocktails were pretty good. Excellent service. Nice design.
10/10 experience. We loved the food, drinks & the staff. I would highly recommend the aji gallina & the caprese. We sat at the bar & our experience was made by our great bartender. Couldn't recommend enough if you're looking for a great date night spot
Great little spot. Excellent service. We ordered a bunch of items on the menu. Most of them tasted great. Drinks were good too! I would go again. Lasagne was super good. Ceviche was amazing as well.
Hands down, one of the best all-around meals & now one of my favorites restaurants. Ordered the amor y fresca drink, homemade focaccia, fritto mixto - all of which were equally amazing. But the star of the show was the brisket lomo saltado - it was absolutely, out of this world. I would absolutely come back & recommend to anyone visiting!
Our second night in Montreal & went here with a large party (two couples, 3 kids). Warm, inviting atmosphere. Great service throughout, from drinks, to starters to mains & dessert. Almost everything was delicious & we tried a broad range. The ceviche, verdura mix & frito mixto starters were amazing - particularly the verdura. I had the pan con chicharon sandwich which I had to gobble down it was so good. My wife had the scallops & loved them. But the pièce de résistance was the lasagna which is large (they warn you!) & we all pitched in to devour. Highly recommend Capisco, wonderful experience in every regard.
A hidden gem. A perfect Pisco Sour cocktail followed by an under-the-radar plate of Verdura Mixed Veg that included perfectly roasted fingerling potatoes, broccoli, red pepper, capers & marinated artichoke. We soaked tender focaccia in the leftover charred oil. Bliss. Thought this dish would be the highlight but Arroz con Mariscos & Cappeletti de Aji Gallina delighted. Go. Then brag to your friends...
We were a group of three couples out for a fun dinner. & Capisco was the perfect place. We had a reservation for 7:30 & only left towards 11:30, the food the service & the ambiance contributed greatly to an evening that flew by! The noise level was very moderate, & the background music was not overwhelming so that we could all converse with ease at our table. Peruvian cuisine is so distinctive in its flavours & colours & all of the courses that we had in the tasting menu/dégustation at the selection of the chef were fantastic! Definitely coming back! Highly recommend!
