The hall was very full & the tables were busy but honestly it is not interesting to stand for more than 1 hour in the cold & snow waiting for a simple meal when there are many interesting options around the city. Montreal is a rich city full of varieties. 1h in the city to know an interesting place or be relaxing to take your branch. They should take the trouble to expand the space to receive more people. We tried 2x & always the same after we didn't even think about other places anymore because we realized that there were very good options without endless queues.
Vibrant & full of energy. Thoughtfully curated menu, there's something for everyone & delivers great flavour. The grilled cheese & tomato soup were especially comforting. It was busy & bustling, & the staff were warm & welcoming.
I
recently visited September Cafe with high expectations, as I'd wanted to try it for a while, but I have to admit I was disappointed by the service. The brunch was very good, I recommend the chicken sandwich & the matcha, but on the service side, it was not great. No smiles, the staff even seemed irritated to accommodate us at times, & after we finished eating, we felt pressured to leave for other customers even though the waiters told us'no pressure' & it had only been a short while since we finished eating. I understand it is a very busy place, but the way they approached us about it was not very friendly. I still recommend going to try it, but for the customer service offered, you can find much better in other brunches & cafes.
Absolutely amazing brunch spot. I love that the menu is not too big & that they really focus on doing a few things very well, while still offering good variety. The pancakes are iconic & a must try. They are the perfect balance of fluffy, sweet, savoury, buttery, & everything you want in a pancake. The food quality is excellent, portion sizes are generous, & prices are very reasonable.
The matcha & coffee are great, the atmosphere is warm & inviting, & the service is kind & friendly. It does get quite busy, so be prepared to wait, but it is well worth it for one of the best brunches I have had.
They were really sweet & found me a spot despite the fact that I came 30 minutes before closing (they're super busy so 30 minutes is last minute); the pancakes were delicious & the drink was fresh! Def recommend
Super cool spot with delicious food! Gets super busy so there might be a wait/line, but it's worth it! Try the halloumi toast - highly recommend. & the pancakes are a must too!
September Café - Montreal
Out of all the places we visited in Montreal, this one was my favourite. The pancakes really hit the spot-soft, warm, & perfect with butter & maple syrup, especially in the cold weather. The place was busy, but the food arrived fresh & well presented. Very cozy & pleasant spot for a good breakfast. One small suggestion: adding a side of fruit with the pancakes (banana or berries) would make them perfect.
They offer a somewhat limited menu, which makes it easy to make up your mind. There is still a good mix of savory vs sweet, & what they do, they do well. Can get busy but turnover seems relatively quick. Super friendly staff & all around a great spot!
Incredible must try spot! It was very busy on a Saturday morning but the staff was quick to keep us in the loop about wait times. Incredibly friendly & kind staff, beautiful interior, & the food…. WOW. My partner & I ordered a macchiato & a matcha for drinks. If you're a matcha drinker, you'll be pleased to hear that they serve ceremonial grade. Both of our drinks were perfect! We shared the pancakes & the avocado toast. I think that was some of the best, most flavorful avocado toast I've ever had. The pancakes were so yummy as well, perfectly fluffy & served with a very generous portion of maple syrup. I can't recommend this place enough!
Probably the best pancakes I've ever had, the avocado toast was unreal as well, coming from someone who makes it regularly for breakfast theirs just hit differently.
Also tried the grilled cheese + tomato soup. It was good nothing to go wild about.
Also it's very busy & first come first serve we were able to get seats fairly quickly. Would definitely go back just for the pancakes alone 💯
It's always busy so make sure you plan accordingly! Definitely worth the wait. Their food & drinks never disappoint.
Good portion with generous price! The place is always busy so it's not easy to sit down but I love their food 😊
Absolutely incredible. I was craving a good tomato soup - & my god, did I find it. This place gets busy, but we managed to snag a seat. I ordered the tomato soup with grilled cheese, & my husband went for the burger & soup combo. Everything was unreal. The flavors were spot on - the burger cooked perfectly & seasoned to perfection. & that grilled cheese? I don't know how they do it, but they do it right. 10/10, absolutely fantastic.
Nice breakfast spot. Gets very busy, so come early or be prepared to stand in line.
I got the classic pancakes which were great. If you're coming with someone, easily share with someone & get two sides to share together. You can taste the buttermilk & flavours.
I also got an orange juice & the halloumi. They fried the cheese into thin pieces which is nice as a side dish. Would come back to try other dishes.
Visited from Toronto on a vacation to Montreal. Found it online & saw how good the food looked. When we arrived, there was a line outside (a good sign, but never fun to wait!!!) Once in line, we only waited for about 20 minutes. They gave us a physical menu (which I loved) & the prices honestly make sense with the quality of food. We got: the tomato burrata toast, the avocado toast, a side fry, & an iced latte & iced chai. The employees working were so sweet, had such a fun energy. Barista was so cool.
The food was genuinely sooo good. They give you a number & bring it to you. It was a cool mix of a cafe plus a restaurant. I highly recommend the avocado toast & the fries. Fries were crispy & NOT soggy/oily. LOVE!!!!
definitely busy & a bit of a wait, so if you don't like that vibe, don't come. but the food is worth it.
Always busy, & for good reason. This is the best brunch & iced matcha in the city. It's first come, first served for tables, & on weekends the line often stretches out the door, so be prepared to wait. Luckily, the food comes out quickly, making the wait completely worth it. The staff are warm, welcoming, & attentive. Highly recommend.
Breakfast sandwich is good, coffee is good, fries are good. Not worth it on the weekend since the line can be an hour.
It's also seat yourself & very stressful to find an open spot when it's busy so best to get it to go
Nice little café with interesting menu. The staff are very welcoming & helpful but you can see that they are very busy. I went there with my friend around 10.40 & we had to wait in line outside to get a table as it was packed!
They have tables indoors, outdoors in front of the café & at the back in a little garden.
I ordered the famous traditional pancakes thst i keot seeing online. I was really looking forward to them. They are very fluffy & well made! The serving is huge & vould be shared between 2 people easily, even 3 if it's for kids. I enjoyed the first bites but unfortunately it was too sweet for my taste. I saw other people eat it without problem but i do not eat many sweets in general, i prefer savory foods, so to me it tasted very sweet but it might suit other people's taste. Good thing i had paired it with their homemade lemonade as the sourness of it went well with the sweetness & balanced it all.
My friend got a tomato & burrata toast with ham on the side because it comes without meat. If it was to be ordered again we'd get it without the meat because the toast is quite big & very filling. It was really tasty! I enjoyed it better than the pancakes. I mean it was savory so it suited my taste better!
Their portion sizes are definitely generous & i think that their prices are quite fair. I'd definitely go again to try their other dishes!
Even on a Monday morning this place was busy, & you can definitely tell why. I was very impressed by the tomato soup, & the pancakes were delightful. Super friendly staff. Worth the visit!
