pancake(146) toast(108) cafe(99) sandwich(80) coffee(79) breakfast(70) avocado(52) soup(49) brunch(48) avocado toast(46) halloumi(44) busy(43)The breakfast sandwich is so freaking good, the pancakes are so fluffy & buttery, even the maple syrup that they offer goes so well with it. Trust me people, it's worth the lineup 😂
Halloumi Toast & Banana bread was really good & quickly delivered, really friendly staff!
This is the most overrated breakfast place in all of Montreal. People who think this place is good haven't properly experienced the Montreal food scene.
The good:
-Staff is friendly
The Bad:
-Very long wait outside
-Very overpriced (18$+tx for pancakes with no fruits or sides)
-Extremely loud, could barely talk with friends
-Seating is extremely uncomfortable, most are seats with no back support.
-The place is tiny & super crowded so you stand in line again inside to order & pay & everyone is in the way
-Burger was a 6/10 meanwhile staff told me it was the best thing on menu. Brioche bun was decent, meat was bad
A place really has to be disappointing for me to give a two stars, I know the restaurant industry is hard, but this place is not it.
Went there with a friend for brunch. Initially we were skeptical as we had to wait in line for almost 30 min & we almost gave up & left twice but decided to stay in the line. Best decision! Omg the food was amazing. We made our choice based on the plates we saw on other people's tables that looked amazing. We went with the pancakes & fried chicken sandwich with fries. Best pancakes I've ever had & hands down best fried chicken sandwich. Even the fries were so good & very well seasoned. I enjoyed my cappuccino. The service was super friendly. Definitely coming back soon.
Food very average. Need to wait for a table even on weekdays. Ordered pancake & fried chicken sandwiches with fries, very thirsty after the meal.
Beautiful café with a cozy ambiance & great attention to detail. The coffee is rich & smooth, & the overall service from the staff is very welcoming, Food is amazing & overall vibe is top notch.
My favourite cafe. I would be here everyday if there wasn't a line there everyday!
My friends & I were visiting & had heard good things so we stopped by for brunch on our last day in Montreal. There was a long line at 12pm on a Monday so we opted to get take out instead.
We ordered three dishes & were in a bit of a hurry so we did not check the bag that had been stapled shut. It was only when we got back to our hotel that we realised one of our items was missing.
We weren't staying close enough to justify going back for it, so we hoped to just get a refund. We tried DM-ing on IG but their DMs are restricted & we borrowed a phone to call (we are from overseas & did not have a local number) but got an automated message saying their mailbox was full.
It would've been really great if there had been a better way of contacting the cafe. It wasn't so much about the money as it was just wanting to finally try something we had been looking forward to. But we eventually decided to let it slide because these things happen.
That being said, the mushroom burrata toast was delicious. Flavourful, rich umami, & so juicy. The pancakes were also one of the better ones we tried during our time in Montreal.
Both items were packaged well (sauce/syrup separated so nothing got soggy) & tasted great even after being jostled during our journey back to the hotel. We just wish we got our third item too 🫣
It's worth the hype & the wait, the food is really thoughtful & well balanced.
I had the mushroom burrata toast (10/10). It was a little on the salty side, but the burrata balances it out perfectly. I also had the tomato soup with the grilled cheese, which was really good. The soup is rich & full of flavor, & the grilled cheese is made with a spicy cheese, a nice twist. I personally prefer milder options, but it was still a hit.
The pancakes were very tasty, fluffy, buttery goodness with flaky sea salt on top. A bit heavy to eat on their own; I feel like a side of berries & whipped cream would lighten them up, but they're definitely good, diner-style pancakes.
The vibes are so good.
Overall, I'd go again!
Excellent spot de brunch, les pancakes sont excellents. Attention au moment au quel vous arrivez, la queue peut être longue
Excellent café with a really refined & welcoming atmosphere. September Café stands out for its attention to detail, both in the quality of the food & the overall experience. The coffee is consistently well made, with balanced flavors & great presentation, & the menu offers a thoughtful selection of dishes that feel fresh & carefully crafted.
The space itself is beautifully designed, with a clean, modern aesthetic that still feels warm & inviting. It's the kind of place where you can sit comfortably whether you're catching up with someone or spending time on your own. The staff are friendly, attentive, & contribute to a smooth & enjoyable experience from start to finish.
Overall, a standout café that delivers on quality, ambiance, & service, definitely worth visiting.
If you want to beat the crowd at September Café, show up before 10 a.m. - otherwise, expect a long line. That seems to be the price of popularity for this sunny little spot on Notre-Dame West.
We visited on a weekend morning & ordered the tomato soup, crepes, avocado toast, a matcha drink, & an americano. Everything was clean, fresh, & well-prepared. The quality is clearly there - ingredients taste good & the flavors are solid.
The vibe is nice & casual: small space, friendly (sympa) staff, & a communal/social table setup that makes it easy to chat with others if you're in the mood.
My only real complaints are portion-related. The drinks (especially the matcha & americano) felt a bit small for the price, & the food portions were on the smaller side too. You definitely pay a premium for the quality & the experience, but I wish there was a little more on the plate (or in the cup) for what you're spending.
Overall, it's a lovely spot with good food & a great atmosphere. Just go early if you don't want to wait, & manage your expectations on portion size. Worth a visit, especially if you're in the neighborhood!
Guysss cette place est tellement crowded dès l'heure d'ouverture ! Mais ça vaut vraiment le détour. Le sandwich deluxe était délicieux
When you come here, you expect a queue. & my God, was there a queue. We waited about one hour to get inside, which was frustrating as reservations would be an easy solve. Each time I've tried to come here, I've had the same problem. Great food & fairly quick though. I recommend the pancakes & the breakfast sandwich. Vibes are pretty standard inside but it was a Bit tight as they are obviously trying to fit lots of people in.
Unfortunately, there is no table service even after waiting an hour.
Whilst it was lovely & we enjoyed our time, I would not go back as it's not worth the queue!
I & many steps gave up waiting in the huge line that forms outside, it was cold, it was snowy. The hall was very full & the tables were busy but honestly it is not interesting to stand for more than 1 hour in the cold & snow waiting for a simple meal when there are many interesting options around the city. Montreal is a rich city full of varieties. 1h in the city to know an interesting place or be relaxing to take your branch. They should take the trouble to expand the space to receive more people. We tried 2x & always the same after we didn't even think about other places anymore because we realized that there were very good options without endless queues.
Food & service were great! The staff were helpful in finding us a table for 4 during their morning rush. The atmosphere was a bit too small in terms of the seating though & didn't allow for the staff to move without bumping into someone accidentally. Great restaurant though overall! TIP: definitely get the pancakes! 10000/10
