I got the avocado toast & overnight oats & both tasted amazing. I am excited to try their viral pancakes & cheese toast next. Be prepared to stand in line for about 30-60 minutes but in my opinion it is worth the wait.
the pancakes are fluffy & not too sweet.
the breakfast sandwich is amazing too.
This is consistently one of my top favourite brunch spot in Montreal. I have been going to September Cafe for years & I have never been disappointed. Although all their dishes are great, I always go back to the breakfast sandwich with added avocado (deluxe is also good but very filling!) & their pancakes. They make a great match but their cardamom latte is still my go-to. Bone broth is a must if you're visiting on a colder day. Vibe is always great but expect there to be a lineup if you're planning to have brunch on-site during weekend days.
I am a pancake fanatic so i had to try! my friend came early to do the line up, i biked from the south shore to meet up with her but it took me a while to find a bike rack (ended up going to the park behind the restaurant). By then, she had just sat down inside so I met her & I got up to order so she could keep our two seats at the long table.
Cashier told me i couldn't order food because I hadn't done the line outside, i could only order drinks. i told her that my friend had waited in the long line for us & i was now ordering for us. i was then allowed to order food…. anyway i get that people try to cut the line & that's gross so they need to be careful but I am not those people & it was a bit insulting/not a great vibe to start.
As for the pancakes, they were very good & a generous serving but not the best i've ever had (can make just as good at home). I found the $5 add on for blueberries a little much but the basic price of $18 is fair. Chocolate chip sea salt cookie was good but nothing spectacular. Wouldn't return as long as it's this popular when there are so many other great places without the line up but I'm glad I checked it out once!
Been wanting to go here forever, & it did not disappoint!
Just an FYI before going, it is busy all days of the week at all times so it may be difficult finding seating!
I got the classic pancakes with an addition of strawberries with ham on the side & I loved it! It was extremely filling though, so it was difficult to finish all of it. My lemonade was super good but very sour!
My friend got the avocado toast which she really liked, but she said there was an odd combination of tastes when it came to the spicy spices & the sweetness of the avocado. She also did not know the egg would be cold. Her chai latte was very good!
Would recommend!
To the people who complain about the long queues: nobody is forcing you to go to this place during peak hours!! You are not entitled to a business' service more than other customers who also show up for the same thing. People have to stop blaming a business for going viral & not being able to accommodate unusually big waves of customers...
Just go before they open (to skip the long lines) or wait til the hype calms down a little!
Yummy buttery pancakes. Also liked the fact that the grilled cheese had a kick to it
