Café Rì Yuè comes across as a small, cozy and visually charming cafe near Place des Arts, beloved for inventive drinks and beautiful pastries that range from matcha and hojicha lattes to yuzu and ube cheesecakes, macarons, and other delicate desserts, with many reviews highlighting the quality and presentation. The vibe is intimate and welcoming, with plenty of natural light and cute decor, but seating can be limited and at times the space feels crowded, sometimes requiring customers to share tables. The staff are frequently praised for friendliness and attentiveness, though a few notes mention variable service and occasional delays or mix ups. Prices are sometimes described as a bit high for the portions, though the menu of full cakes is noted as convenient for celebrations. The cafe is repeatedly recommended for a quick coffee break or to meet a friend, and fans celebrate its desserts as not too sweet and beautifully crafted, with standout items like the matcha strawberry cake, yuzu cheesecake, and white chocolate matcha drinks. Overall, Café Rì Yuè appears to deliver a consistently cute and tasty experience for dessert lovers and matcha fans, even as space limitations and occasional service quirks keep it from being ideal for larger groups or longer study sessions.
Food & drinks are amazing! Great mix of sweet & savoury food options. I recommend the Dalgona latte. The staff are so attentive, the barista overheard me say I regretted ordering a cappuccino & she insisted on remaking my drink as a latte even when I told her she really didn't have to. She made my experience even better! I will definitely be back
The matcha is terrible. The matcha chiffon cake is alright & not sweet which some people can appreciate. No outlets to charge your phone especially if you sit on the couches. I don't know how someone could do work here for more than 2hrs.
Cozy local cafe! Ordered to share between two people & it was plenty.
Strawberry Matcha Cake: Good matcha taste, not too sweet. Soft & tender. Could use more strawberry slices!
Tiramisu: lots of espresso powder, pillowy soft but still rich in mascarpone.
Noir hot chocolates: Tastes like the smell of Kilians Angels Share! For a hot chocolate, it has depth!
One of the rare places where the food & drinks are as good as they look. The tiramisu here is to die for! The lattes we got were also not too sweet, yet decadent nonetheless.

I really enjoyed the sweets & the white chocolate matcha ?latte. But I will say I didn't particularly like the service from one of the two cashiers. I feel like one really didn't want to be bothered at all.
My favourite asian café / bakery in Montreal. Every cake I've tried so far is absolutely delicious.
I'm usually not a fan of macarons, but their'fatcarons' are amazing, the flavour is very present & it lasts for more than just 1-2 bites.
My favourite cakes are the ube basque cheesecake, it's rich & creamy & tastes a lot like Ube & the matcha/strawberry cake, it's super light & not too sweet.
Their miso/mushroom focaccia is also a must for me.
Their drinks are also on point, last time I tried the matcha/lavender einspanner, it was delicious.
Also a great spot to order yourself a full cake for any occasion.
The place was nice, but it had limited seating available.
Initially, I got a seat outside, but the chair was locked with a cable & could not be moved. It made sitting a bit uncomfortable; & the outside table was a bit dusty.
However, the cake was delicious, not overly sweet; & my drink was innovative.

The taste of the matcha strawberry cake was amazing! It was fresh & not too sweet! The tiramisu was super delicious! The matcha latte & coffee tasted great!
While visiting from the U.S., I decided to take the 30 minute walk in the rain for dessert, on a whim. This place did not disappoint, & it was well worth it! The earl grey'bear'. Reminded me of fruity pebbles, without the bad stuff.
The Ube Cheesecake was exquisite! NONE of the desserts purchased were too sweet or left us with a heavy bloated feeling. We ate them too fast, before we could take a photo.
I absolutely love this cafe! Not only is it super cute in the interior the staff make you feel welcomed.
I ordered the
Matcha Chiffon Cake
Matcha cookie
Matcha latte
Cafe latte d'Osmanthus
Pain au chocolat
I find the pastries to be a perfect sweetness as its not to sweet & i really recommend the cake & the cookie it was delicious! If i was able to buy the recipe i would thats how good it is. The drinks weren't anything special but i did enjoy it
I 10/10 recommend this place & the location is close to the metro as well!

Little spot only a few steps from Place-des-arts metro station. Seems quite busy most of the time. Staff is courteous. Cakes & fatcarons (macarons) are great if you like Asian-inspired flavours (ube, matcha, etc.) & not too sweet. Portions per slice are quite generous & well worth the price. Full-sized cakes are available for order on their website.
Best matcha latte I've had in the city. I tried the white chocolate one, it was not sweet at all. Just a nice hint of mellowness from the white chocolate. On the very first sip, I knew my drink was made by somebody who understands how to work with matcha. I will definitely return to try other things!
