Amazing atmosphere, great service, food portions are small, but the quality definitely justifies the portion size. Would recommend for a nice date or celebration spot, tapas style.
Amazing food, attentive staff, highly reccomend. Try & come each time im in MTL
The atmosphere was minimalist & was bland. Also the waitress didn't seem interested or knowledgeable about the food or the wine. Thankfully the food was so outstanding that we'd go back & recommend Cadet to others.
The food was OK. Not a fan of french cuisine so no suprise i wasnt a fan of this place. Invited my parents for their anniversary & they do like french food & they also found it just OK. Service was very good, quick, efficient & helpful. If you like french food, judging by the reviews, you'll be happy here, if you don't, then you probably wont.
First time in Montreal, found this little spot from some reddit reviews. My boyfriend & I were pleasantly surprised. Cute spots great food, & the servers were very nice & made sure that we knew what we were ordering (since things are in French), & made sure we felt welcomed. Definitely a recommendation for some fine dining French cuisine. Would come back.
Beautiful spot. We had read that the tables are a bit cramped so we chose to sit at the bar & it was the perfect choice. Lots of elbow room & fun to be up with the action.
We shared the hamachi, beef tartare, black cod & oyster mushrooms, as well as the chocolate tart. All but the hamachi were excellent - particularly the black cod & mushrooms. The hamachi was good, just not at the same level as the other dishes. Perhaps lacking a bit of zing for my taste.
The service was wonderful - attentive, helpful but not too much. The atmosphere is casual & elegant. You'd be as comfortable wearing jeans & a nice shirt as in business casual.
I've read others' negative comments about the size of dishes & have to disagree. We eat at sharing style restaurants quite often & found this to be very much in line -if not a bit more generous than many. Particularly with this level of culinary skill. Teh recommendation was for 4- 5 dishes between 2, & we were very content with just 4. We could have skipped dessert & been content but gave into the temptation & were glad we did!
We ordered 9 plates for 3 people, each plate was explained at the table, very tasty & fresh ingredients!
Cute spot, love the atmosphere. Great wine selection & good prices. Food was good. Service was ok… overall I still recommend this place.
Tapas style restaurant, nice place to share food.
We order focaccia bread, cod croquette & 3 different salad as there's not many vegetarian options.
The focaccia bread is home made accompanied by a mild spicy sauce, which we find a nice touch to reduce the burnt-ish flavor off some parts of the bread.
We continued with the beet salad, & it is excellently delicious - very well executed. The dressing sauce definitely makes this dish a die-for for us!
Then comes the oyster mushroom salad. We found it less impressive than the beet salad, but the taste is quite nice with fresh touch of sliced pears harmonizing flavors.
The eggplant plate is, however, quite disappointing despite its beautiful presentation. We found it overly salty & the flavor pair seems a bit odd - spicy jalapeno + tangy pomegranate - that doesn't go well for us.
Last but not least, the cod croquette put a nice ending to our meal - it is flavorful & crispy when being dipped into yummy mayonnaise sauce.
The waiters were kind but it seems that we received less attention than other tables around us because we didn't order anything to drink. When we finished our meal, no one came to check on us to ask for desserts or coffee. & we had to wave our hands to get someone's attention for the bill.
Overall, our experience was pleasant & we enjoyed the ambiance.
Hands down our favorite meal of the trip. Small to large shareable dishes that were all delicious! Space was hip & modern & they also had a nice wine list.
The food is amazing & we had excellent service at the bar. Highly recommend the beef tartare, scallops, & black cod.
Cadet was EXCEPTIONAL!!! From the minute we arrived, we had a lovely greeting from the hostess who sat us by the window. The dining room is deceptively large as it widens the further back you go with a long bar along the side. It is a very modern, simplistic, light & airy look & vibe. Our waitress was personable, professional, & prompt which added to our wonderful dining experience. Our drinks were delicious & our meal was SUPERB!!! Every dish came out beautifully presented, amazing flavors, & delicious upon every bite. We look forward to our next visit & HIGHLY recommend!
Tellement bon, simple & recherché à la fois & service impeccable!
The atmosphere struck a perfect balance between elegant & relaxed - a welcome contrast to the bustling city. It gave us the space to actually unwind & have a proper conversation, which is often rare these days.
The food? Absolutely divine. We shared a beautifully prepared plate of black cod, which practically melted in our mouths. Alongside it, we enjoyed their soft & savoury focaccia, tender scallops, perfectly cooked oyster mushrooms, & some of the best calamari I've had in ages.
What truly stood out, however, was the exceptional service. As someone who's lactose intolerant, I'm used to a bit of back-&-forth when dining out - but not here. The waiting staff kindly curated a personalized list of everything on the menu I could enjoy without worry, & I was incredibly grateful for that extra care.
All in all, Cadet is an absolute must if you're after a delicious, mindful dining experience in Montreal. Highly recommend for a memorable night out!
