One of the best meals I've had in Montreal. Worth the money & exceptional value. Great for a date night in a cool part of the city.
The Focaccia was delicious. Soft with a slightly crisp crust. The accompanying cheddar & spicy oil sauce was amazing.
The leeks with smoked mackerel, mustard, & tobikko were also very delicious. Though the portion was a bit small for the price, & did leave me desiring a bit more. I could easily eat three of these.
The flank steak was very good. The szechuan pepper sauce was heavenly, but the burnt chili salsa left a slightly bitter note, & the pickled peppers were a bit too sweet & reminded me of hot dog relish. I could do without some of those elements.
The pavlova was very good. A sensational experience. Warm & cold. Crunchy & soft. Dry & wet. All in the same bite. Very pleasant finish to what was a great meal.
Had high expectations but to be honest, all 3 mains, black cod, chicken wings & beef are too salty & the service is cold.
So so magically delicious. We ordered a variety of dishes & tried a couple of drinks each & every single one amazed. I will be thinking about that miso black cod FOREVER. I highly recommend getting the oysters, their house sauce pairs very well with them. The service was absolutely lovely & very accommodating. I docked a point for atmosphere just because it was a bit too loud at times. Well worth the visit!
Cuisine succulente, surprenante. Merci tellement!
Nice restaurant, several beautiful dishes to share. Excellent, well balanced dishes executed with attention to detail & creativity. Three main theme of vegetables/vegeterian, meat, & seafood to chose from.
Top rated eatery in the city. Lovely food generally well balanced & service with a good selection of wines…
We had the …
Mozzarella, artichoke, muhammara,'Nduja, - not our favourite, mozzarella was hard & was ground out by the spiciness of the sauce
Fingerling potatoes, chimichurri, mayonnaise - excellent carb accompaniment perhaps a little over seasoned for some
Scallops, ajo blanco, rhubarb, almond - Superb
Leeks, smoked mackerel, mustard, dill - Superb
Black cod, miso sauce, daikon, kale - also supe
No matter where we dine in Montreal, we always end up back at Cadet.
Thoughtful French cuisine at an approachable price - that alone feels like a luxury.
The seasonal menu changes beautifully & keeps us coming back for more.
Honestly, a once-a-month kind of place.
The food was pretty average, there weren't any particularly new or distinctive flavors. The ingredient combinations in each dish felt quite common, & the flavors themselves didn't seem especially high quality. One of the dishes we ordered was their signature fried seabass, & its stomach was stuffed with a vegetable mixture that tasted nearly rotten. The service also was at a very medium level. The servers need better training.
