Had a fun night at Cadet. We were a group of six, which is perfect here since the whole concept is built around sharing plates.
We started with a couple orders of the focaccia with cheddar & spicy oil (a must), then moved on to the broccoli spätzle with labneh & pistachios, the butternut squash with sheep feta, balsamic vinaigrette & pecans, the cod croquettes with spicy mayo, & the shrimp skewers with satay, Brussels sprouts, & ginger.
For mains, we shared a couple of orders of the flank steak with burnt chili salsa, Szechuan pepper sauce, & pickled peppers, along with the chicken wings with jerk sauce, caramelized onion chutney, & scallions, & the zucchini with chicken skin, hot honey, & pickled lemon.
Everything was delicious including the wine. Great service & energy in the room. All in all a really good night.
This was a truly unique & incredible dining experience! The wait staff was professional, the interior design was sleek, & the food was creative & delicious. We were impressed by the blackened cod, broccoli salad, & beet salad which our lovely server recommended.

Food & service were outstanding. I can understand why this is a Michelin Guide creative food recommendation. Dishes are offered tapas style & everything we tried was exceptional. The squid was by far our favorite & I would skip the broccoli & spaetzel. We had to order the focaccia to enjoy the rest of the sauce but the dipping sauce with the focaccia was also delectable. I will definitely be back to try more dishes.
Fun for a date night & fairly affordable. Leeks, zucchini & chocolate tart were fantastic. We also had the shrimp, croquettes, & broccoli which were good. We had a little issue with one of the cocktails ordered but they took it back & remade it without hesitation when it was mentioned which I appreciate (the remake was good).
fabulous meal & attentive service. Tiger shrimp special & broccoli were the highlights, as well as the focaccia. Lots of seafood & veggies on the menu!
Great service, we were pressed for a show & they served our all food with incredible speed.
Food was mostly delicious, had the eggplant, cod croquette, oyster mushroom, Broccoli, lamb, veal cheeks, beef sirloin, risotto. Northern shrimps

Do you like cilantro? Are you even indifferent about cilantro? If yes to either, get the "soap dedans!" cocktail. I am still thinking about it 24 hours later. Likely the best cocktail I have ever had. It was like a gin gimlet, less sweet, but super fresh & vegetal due to the cilantro. We had the beets, scallops, stuffed mushrooms, & broccoli spaetzle. The broccoli spaetzle was good, but the beets, scallops, & stuffed mushrooms were divine!

Unfortunately, it was nothing to rave about. Staff was very friendly, our waiter was a bit too busy & didn't ask us once how the food was. I would have liked to give him the feedback that the octopus had a very unpleasant texture, almost powdery. We order octopus often & are used to rubbery texture when overcooked but this was a very unpleasant strange texture. We also ordered the stuffed mushroom which our waiter had recommended & the taste was so blah, dry, we only ate 2 of the 4 mushrooms. The best dish was the foccacia & the broccoli with Spätzle. We expected more for the price of the dishes
So.... maybe I failed on taking photos of the dishes before we ate ... I think the empty plates speak volumes. This was a recommendation from a local... & they did not disappoint. Excellent sharing plates. We had a good number of them. They were inventive, whimsical & delicious! To note... the croquettes, the beet salad, the leeks, the broccoli.. the wine selection was extensive.. we chose a little known Sicilian white wine... it was excellent. The service was beyond reproach. Our server Mathilde made excellent recommendations. Her service was attentive without being overbearing & always with a smile. We will be back. Based on reviews, we were excited to dine at Le Cadet. But - the experience did not live up to expectation at all. Service was neither attentive nor very present. Had to ask a few times to order a second drink. Food was very average - not at all the quality or innovation that was hyped. Calamari dish was drowning in luke warm chili oil & was on the cooler side of room temperature. Beef tartare had the taste & texture of aged beef, though not mentioned as such on the menu, & the service didn't seem to know how it was prepared when we asked. Cod croquettes were ok but a dish that could be found anywhere. Gnocci was ordered without ham (due to allergies) but came served with ham anyway. Broccoli & contre filet were tasty. The spicy sauce that accompanied the foccacia was overpowering for such delicate bread. The menu is served tapas-style, & it was recommended that we order 3 dishes per person. We ordered 2 per person, which was absolutely enough, & in hindsight was probably a few dishes too many. Atmosphere was a bit boring.
What a great experience - The vibe is very cool, good house music in the background, not too loud so conversation is easy. Our server was friendly, timely, & the wait staff are well coordinated. We started off with 2 house cocktails (gin / mezcal ) which were delicious, shared 3 plates, 2 glasses of wine & a dessert. The salmon & broccoli dishes were amazing, as was the bread pudding. The table next to us was raving about their plates too. Perfect amount of food to share for 2. Reasonably priced (under $200 with good tip) for food quality, presentation, service & location. We loved it - definitely go back to try other dishes on the menu.

This.was the best meal we had in Montreal, by far. Favorites were the bright & fresh scallops, meltingly tender short ribs, & the fabulous lemony asparagus with ricotta. Everything we ordered was devoured. We also had the focaccia, cod croquettes, lobster roll, beets, broccoli spaetzle, & duck breast with foie gras.
Dinner with work colleagues was a hit. Great food & amazing staff! Everything was tasty & well prepared. But must try the broccoli & the mushroom salad.
Innovative, flavorful dishes in a buzzy atmosphere. The broccoli with spaetzle & the gnocchi with pork were standouts. Oh, & the oysters! Only dud was the tartare. Not bad, just boring.
What I like about Cadet is that you get excellent top notch cuisine & service, in an atmosphere that's more comfortable & less formal than equivalent high brow joints. Everything we ate last night was spectacular! The Beef short ribs was amazingly tender, melting in my mouth with a perfect combination of flavours. Even the broccoli dish was perfect.

What an amazing restaurant. We are in Montreal for a weekend visit & had the best meal in a very long time at Cadet (our first but not last visit). Plates are smaller for sharing, tapas style. We ordered 5 dishes & 2 desserts for 2 people. Total bill with 2 bottles of sparkling water (no alcohol) came to $160 before tip. Every bite was delicious & prepared to perfection, & the service attentive, friendly & quick. The atmosphere a perfect mix of lively while still being able to hold a conversation. We will definitely come back here & highly recommend Cadet for a great experience. We had the following dishes, which I would all highly recommend: - Lobster & shrimp - Fennel & citrus salad - Scallop ceviche - Gnocchi with pork - Broccoli & spaetzle - Bread pudding - Lemon Yuzu ganache
Wonderful! Absolutely fantastic dinner. The service was awesome , the drinks were fantastic & the food was beautifully balanced. We loved the broccoli, fennel salad, & cauliflower & focaccia. The drinks are wonderful & we had some fantastic red wine from the Loire Valley
Had a great dining experience. Server was very nice to us & we felt welcomed. I really liked the taste & quantity of broccoli spaetzle & atmosphere of candle light dinner was nice as well.
The place was full on a Sunday evening! We split 7 dishes between three people. The fingerling potatoes with chimichuri were deliciously crispy, the broccoli with labneh & the carrot salad were filling. We also had a cod croquette each & I think we wish we all had another each. The chicken thigh dish was a salad of sorts but went well with the carrot salad. The risotto was rich & creamy. The calamari was disappointing- it didn't feel like the flavours went together & the dish was too wide so it got cold quite quickly. Highly recommend this spot!
Never had a bad meal here. We don't really eat meat so can't pronounce myself on those dishes, but the broccoli spaetzle (still on the menu thank you!), fennel salad, tomato peach salad, eggplant dip, roasted fingerling, cod fritters - all succulent. Good wine selection too, overall no reason to not come back as much as possible. Yum!
