Particularly there was an extremely big difference in portion of the fish which we were very disappointed of. Is the take out quantity different from the in restaurant quantity? & being the same price & item on the menu, why is this the case? The in restaurant experience & especially the portion of fish was conpletelt different 5/5 : Been a while since ive been here, Worth the long wait in line, & several other customers had said so before our turn too. Perfectly crispy & seasoned on the outside & the batter is not thick. Cooked to perfection. Good amount of fish on the inside. For the price this is quality! Service was also just as satisfying My mom is a fish & chip snob, she loves fish & chips but is hard to please. She said it was a terrific experience!
Great little place, & the food was incredible. We tried the scotch eggs, salmon & chips, kebabs, & the maple battered haddock.. WOW. Highly recommend!
Maybe good for some, but the batter was very thick (much thicker than a pogo) & soggy, with a maple syrup note that I personally was a fan of, but my partner was not. The fries were soft & they too had a sweet note which ultimately combined with the batter was too much sugar taste in a main course. The tartare sauce was very nice. We both had the haddock & fries & wished there was some contrast between all the mushy textures.
Just the perfectly fried fish n' chips you'd expect. Super texture to the cod & a nutty, crisp texture for the batter. Generous helping of fries. Cherry ale to wash down. Buzzer for order, bus your tray. Youthful staff & diverse patrons. Grateful for the choice among the elegant "high-rise" restaurants around it on McGill.
Sadly, not a taste of home. For some reason the fish batter tastes off (burnt oil) & the chips were more like fries & somehow raw.
Brit & Chips is my favorite fish & chips place in Montreal. The food is great, I love how crispy the batter is & how soft the fish is. The atmosphere is really casual, & I like sitting on the high bars. I've gone maybe 3-4 times now & have enjoyed it every time.
Fish was fabulous, but the batter was way way too oily. The chips were also good.
Really good fish & chips, about a close as you can get to a chipper here in North America. Only thing missing without be other items like a batter burger or spice burger or scotch egg
Amazing service & really good fish & chips. I usually don't feel so welcome as I was made to feel here. Fish was well battered & flavourful. Fries were amazing as well. The tartare sauce was the highlight for me. My best meal in Montreal & that's saying something. Portion size was good & I had to split it up to share with my friend, which was done for me by the friendly staff.
I loved the different choices of fish & batters. The maple batter was so light & just a tad sweet. Overall the fish, fries & coleslaw were delicious. However the price is pretty high considering the sides aren’t even included.
