Downtown Montreal is home to a brand new occupant, and we’re here to have a good time. A social lounge, an artisan bar and a modern bistro, Bivouac provides an urban and boreal gastronomic experience to all who pass through its doors.
Here, the objective is simple: to introduce guests to a whole new world of tastes and sensations. Taking advantage of the best that the Quebec region and its artisans have to offer.
Bivouac is where guests can get away from the chaos of city life to explore, share and enjoy the quintessence of our nature, all during a meal.
Our Specialties
Oyster bar, Cold meats platter, Cheese platter, Salmon gravlax, Deer tataki, Smoked bison carpaccio, French rack of piglet, Duck breast, Seared cod fillet, Homemade desserts, House cocktails & Private import wine.
Located in the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel on the 6th floor of Complexe Desjardins.
In summer, the Bivouac Terrace offers a breathtaking view of the city and is perfectly located to enjoy the lively Place des Festivals. In winter, the Refuges du Bivouac offer to set up a camp for an evening under a beautifully decorated and heated dome that can accommodate up to 10 people, in the heart of the entertainment district.
Across the reviews, Bivouac stands out as a dining destination with inventive, well presented dishes that showcase local ingredients, attentive professional service, and a refined yet welcoming atmosphere. Guests praise the varied menu and thoughtful wine pairings, the impressive setting both indoors and on the terrace, and the team's care in accommodating accessibility and celebrations. The experience is described as memorable with standout moments, from intimate bubbles and elegant decor to reliable comfort, making it ideal for pre-show meals, special occasions, and relaxed evenings alike.
Very cool setting. The food is okay. I had the salmon- it lacked complexity & a memorable finish. The creme tansy was subtle, the pickled radish was delicious. My cocktail was overly sweet.
We were so disappointed with Bivouac, the promise of cuisine Boreal was so exciting, it ended feeling like a marketing move.
This was ultimately a hotel restaurant, & while we thought that maybe it would be, we were wrong. The design the vibe, the crowd etc.
The food was simply bland, low on flavour..the risotto was so ordinary, nothing about it was special, we kept adding salt because it had no flavour. No interesting he's or spices to make it Boreal. The Beef filet was very ordinary again nothing special,. felt like a70s hotel steak. The mushroom trio we were excited about when we ordered it, & it was flat, & no flavour, again nothing boreal about it, & we had to put salt & pepper for flavour
The whole meal was disappointing, & we felt conned that we fell for the idea of a cuisine boreal Quebecoise

What a beautiful restaurant right next to Place de Arts. The dim lit sexy ambiance, along with a large terrace overlooking the downtown core. Anywhere you sit, will be an amazing experience.
The service was professional & warm. The food takes on a high-end Quebec menu. The food is flavorful, incredibly presented & lots of options for food allergies. Highly recommend this place
Chic, elegant & beautiful restaurant ans bar. Recommend for any kind of gathering. Some nights they have a DJ so it's very fun at the bar. The drinks are delicious 😋
The starters were delicious & creative. The main courses were equally good & the selection of wines was good, although a few more options for the wine by the glass would have been nice; a Sauternes with the foie gras always a favourite.
The atmosphere was a bit flat but likely due to there not being a lot of people that particular night. But having a quiet table, where one doesn't need to compete with loud music like many annoying places these days, was a real treat!
We would definitely consider returning.
We had limited time before the concert, but amazing staff managed to give us a wonderful meal in the time we had. The food was delicious & the kindness & helpfulness of the staff even better!
Note de 230$ sans satisfaction
