Downtown Montreal is home to a brand new occupant, and we’re here to have a good time. A social lounge, an artisan bar and a modern bistro, Bivouac provides an urban and boreal gastronomic experience to all who pass through its doors.
Here, the objective is simple: to introduce guests to a whole new world of tastes and sensations. Taking advantage of the best that the Quebec region and its artisans have to offer.
Bivouac is where guests can get away from the chaos of city life to explore, share and enjoy the quintessence of our nature, all during a meal.
Our Specialties
Oyster bar, Cold meats platter, Cheese platter, Salmon gravlax, Deer tataki, Smoked bison carpaccio, French rack of piglet, Duck breast, Seared cod fillet, Homemade desserts, House cocktails & Private import wine.
Located in the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel on the 6th floor of Complexe Desjardins.
In summer, the Bivouac Terrace offers a breathtaking view of the city and is perfectly located to enjoy the lively Place des Festivals. In winter, the Refuges du Bivouac offer to set up a camp for an evening under a beautifully decorated and heated dome that can accommodate up to 10 people, in the heart of the entertainment district.
Guests describe Bivouac as a refined and welcoming destination where service is consistently attentive and the cuisine feels inventive and generously portioned. The setting ranges from elegant indoor dining to magical winter bubbles and a terrace that glows under night lights. Dishes are praised for their presentation and quality, with standout seafood and well crafted wine pairings, though some reviewers note room for more variety in the wine by the glass. The staff are commended for professionalism and thoughtful service that makes celebrations and pre show meals feel special, while a few comments mention higher prices and occasional noise. Overall, Bivouac comes across as a standout choice for memorable dinners, gatherings, and special occasions, offering a memorable combination of food, wine, and ambiance.
The ambiance is lovely. However, the food was very disappointing. The scallop entrée was good but the main course, especially the rabbit seriously reminded me or airplane food & not in a good way. The rabbit itself was flavorless & overcooked while the potatoes were just bad & came with two sad unseasoned steamed broccolis. If you had told me it came out of a microwave I would have believed you. I wouldn't write this review but it markets itself as a high end restaurant with prices to match. The service is good but the food needs some serious work.
Located in downtown, in the heart of Place des Arts, Bivouac is a great & must-go restaurant that won't disappoint the most picky food. It has everything for success, great view, great services & motivated staffs, beautiful decor & finally amazing food. I will definitely come back.

The dome experience is unique! It is a private place where you can put the music that you want, heated & an amazing place to have a delicious dinner. The service was 5 stars, the tasting menu was unique & spectacular. All the dishes were fantastic! My only complaint is that I would like to be able to stay longer, since you can stay only until 11pm because the experience is so wonderful that it makes you want to stay longer. Best night ever!
The food was wonderful, especially the locally recommended dessert. The bartender was very good & gave me lots of ideas to come back in June for the Montreal Jazz Festival.
