I was expecting to enjoy a great Canadian experience, but was disappointed. I wished there were more choices on the food menu, especially considering how the drinks menu was very long. I didn't see any difference with many other Montreal restaurants, considering the restaurant reputation & very high prices. I am certain I will not never go back there.
We had high expectations & this restaurant did not disappoint!!! Amazing food, great drinks, wonderful service. We sat at the small bar & got to watch the chefs work. Once you taste the nigiri foie gras you will never want to eat anything else. We even had dessert — a maple bread pudding. Outrageously delicious.
10/10 everything was phenomenal: food, drinks, staff, atmosphere & everything else

This place is The Bomb. Period, end of story. Every dish is perfection. Service- perfection. Drinks - perfection. Surroundings - just right. Not too fancy, not too rustic. Intimate companionable. When you enter the space, the smell alone will make you drool. There's a reason they're always booked way in advance, so if you're thinking about going - assuming you can afford it, because quality like this comes at a price! - then what are you waiting for? Make a reservation & GO!
As always, Au Pied de Cochon delivered! From the amazing staff to the innovative food & drink menus, what more can I say? Five stars, highly recommend!
I am a long-time fan of Au Pied de Cochon & my previous dinner at the restaurant was fantastic - everything that I had hoped it would be. On this trip, I was bringing my husband to Montreal for the first time & kept raving about how good the food was here. However, it was an incredibly disappointing evening. We were not notified that we would be sitting outside when we made the reservation. There were many large hornets - I killed two, but they kept coming. There were no hornet traps or anything outside to prevent this. While the pate was good, it looked like it had been literally dumped on the plate with a glob of rhubarb compote. The famous duck in the can was really tough - we couldn't cut it until we asked for a steak knife. We let the server know & she kindly comped a dessert - however, we would have preferred that she take away the tough duck & replace it with one that was properly cooked. The broccoli & tofu was basically mushy broccoli in an oily goo of peanut butter. Maybe because we come from Vancouver where the Chinese food is exceptional, but we were really kind of surprised by how bad it was. The dessert was really good. Our server was lovely & the drinks were good. I would like to think that this lack of quality was all due to our trying times & look forward to going back on our next trip to Montreal.

Je suis allée avec la famille pour l'anniversaire de mon conjoint. C'était notre troisieme fois & la famille première fois.
Le service n'était pas là. Manque d'expérience de la serveuse ou manque de support? Les aines de la famille s'attendaient à recevoir le menu. On nous demandait se que nous voulions comme drinks à la terasse... Bein on sait pas qu'avez vous. On s'est fait dire: tout... c'est quoi tout? On savait pas comment fonctionnait le code QR & les personnes qui nous ont accueillis nous ont pas expliqué.
Arrivée en dedans il faisait vraiment froid. Tellement que nous utilisions les serviettes de table comme châle au su des swrveurs qui n'ont pas fait de cas! 😅
La bouffe etait bonne mais les portions plus petit de se qu'on nous avait prévenu.
Note il y a une toilette pour toute la place & ce n'est pas indiqué elle est où. On dirigeait quelques gens por la salles de bain ou on voyait les employés leur indiquer la place mais si c'était clairement indiqué ça serait apprécié.
D'autant plus, il y a eu des oublis tels que les étincelles de fête pour mon conjoint ( qui avait été prévenu en avance par courriel er verbalementà la serveuse) & du café.
Belle place & bons produits mais le service n'était pas au rendez-vous.
This best culinary experience of our lives. The food was so good it brought my husband to tears. There's so much love, thought & soul in the food & you can feel it in your heart. We bought two rounds of drinks for the amazing people who run this place because it was so good! We are honoured to have had that experience, quality, service & atmosphere. Our lives have changed.
