Absolutely stunning plates with fantastic Quebec fare. I was going to get the Duck in a can, but the chicken & Morels won me over. I have no regrets getting this dish as it was more like a deconstructed chicken pot pie. Fantastic from start to finish. The drinks were fantastic as well. Highly recomend a reservation & going if you are visiting Montreal.
Is the theme tacky & completely went over my head??
The food was all over the place. The best thing we ate here were the French fries. Yes they were really good, but disappointing this was the best thing. Foie nigiri is super tacky - bamboo leaf, bamboo platter, big Asian soup spoons, what was even the rice, foie cooked ok. Sauce comes in a small squirt bottle. lol.
Duck in a can - duck overcooked like a tire, foie somehow undercooked pink & stringy?? The sauce it came in was delicious but more than a few bites will put you in the grave. Sweetbreads dish I couldn't take more than 2 bites of.
Spicy martini was gross, congealed olive oil all over the glass. Straight to jail whoever created that! Drinks took a long time, all appetizers arrived before, service friendly but super super slow. Was the staff drinking? Lol maybe just having a good time & urgency not the key here. Even to get the bill was along wait. Absolute tourist trap. Would not recommend.
Absolutely amazing meal & cocktails. The foie gras apps were especially memorable as was the spicy cilantro drink. Fantastic server & a handsome space.
Believe the hype. I've eaten a lot of good food at a lot of good restaurants, & this enters the pantheon of the greats.
The sweetbreads sando & four gras nigiri were transcendental. Cocktails & drinks selection were on point & perfect for cutting through the richness.
The only thing better than the food was the world-class service provided by William. He was warm, personable, knowledgeable, & had a sense of humor. I hope he's getting paid well because he's providing outstanding value for the business.
This was a lovely experience for my partners birthday dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed the food & drink, the staff were charismatic & engaging, & the patio/terrace was lovely even though it is so late in the season. A fantastic experience!
This is a phenomenal experience every time. The food & drinks are incredible, but the extra layer of service that the staff add on makes this feel like a truly luxurious experience.
I really did not enjoy my experience here, but the excellent service & friendly server kept this from being a 1-star review.
The atmosphere is cozy & inviting, but the service was extremely slow. We waited over 3 hours for our food, with no explanation given when we asked. The drinks were decent, but nothing memorable.
The biggest letdown was the food. For a bill over $500, we expected far better quality. The foie gras poutine was the only standout dish. The duck in a can was okay, but far from exceptional. The steak was a disaster. It was chewy, poorly cooked, & still had silverskin. For a dish that cost $180, it was truly disappointing. The flavor & execution were lacking on this dish. I could not even swallow the steak as it was so chewy that I had to spit every bite out.
On a positive note, dessert was quite good, & again, the service was excellent. If it wasn't for the server, we would've walked out.
Unfortunately, I won't be returning or recommending this place unless you have time to kill & don't mind overpaying for mediocre food. All of us went to get poutine afterwards, that's how disappointed we are with this place.
Fun fact, the $20 poutine place had way better taste & way better flavours then here.
I'm flashing back to a memorable night at this Montreal institution given their exceptional sense of hospitality. I had the daunting task of hosting a group of five ladies from New York who know a thing or two about great restaurants. Among the standout dishes were the foie gras poutine & the duck in a … can. Our waiter didn't miss a beat throwing in a round of drinks because he felt that the extra few minutes we waited for our food was too long. At the end of the meal, he offered us a maple sugar pie for the table & played DJ taking requests that led to a Tina Tuner singalong. Nobody at the table was celebrating anything in particular other than life in general. It was all just ducky!
Exceptional service at Au Pied de Cochon! The staff were incredibly attentive - checking in often & keeping our water glasses full. It's the small details like that which really elevate the experience.
The thoughtful presentation of each dish (& even the drinks!) was a standout. They walked us through how everything was prepared, adding a special touch to the experience. Even without speaking much French, we felt completely welcomed. A unique & memorable dining experience!
As for food, I would highly recommend the fois gras nigiri, stuffed pork foot, duck in a can.
We could only book the one bar seating left at 10PM on a Wednesday right after Holiday. There were quite a bit of empty seats when we arrived so me & my husband could be seated on a table. We snacked for dinner earlier already because the reservation was late at night. My husband wanted to order the beef tripes but was sold out. Dessert options of the day were not interested at all for me. My husband is allergic to alcohol & I am pregnant so we cannot drink. We ended up only getting couple of appetizers for a late night snack which were the duck temaki & foie gras nigiri. They were delicious & unique but the price value were not good. Paid $60 for just 6 bites. Glad that we finally tried the restaurant but probably won't go back. Would like to visit again for the two appetizers though if the price is better.
Amazing food & experience the food was delicius & staff were great. Everything is very much made for sharing. The Appetizer menu is my favourite be prepared for really rich decadent food! My only critique would be that the drinks were a pretty bland. The Moscow mule was delicious but the ciders & whiskey sour were only ok. It's also a bit of a cramped space so be prepared to be a little squished in.
We ordered 8 drinks & they are all taste amazing!! We love it! Also the foie gras nigiri! That's a must try!! We ordered 12 pieces & finished em all! Duck in can is very special, you will never taste it outside Montreal. Pork feet is my favorite!!very juicy very gravy!
Time after time, Au Pied de Cochon delivers. The food is classic yet imaginative, the staff is friendly & energetic & the drinks are a perfect pairing. The food, as always, was delicious. Thanks to Michael, Theo, Robert & the rest of the team!!
We have been going to Au pied for over a decade whenever we are in Montreal & it has evolved over the years yet maintaining its fabric. We had a few of the staple dishes & some new to us & it was all very good. The service is always prompt yet friendly. We were offered a special of the pigs head & we were abit reluctant but when we saw the other tables order come in we were kicking ourselves for being hesitant. The drinks were also different & innovative & their wine list is like 5 pages long!

This restaurant serves the best Poutine I've ever had. The restaurant is located in a really cool part of town & seems kind of like a hipster neighborhood. The staff & servers were as good or better than you'll find anywhere. It seemed like all the servers worked all the tables simultaneously. Any server that walked by would ask you if you needed anything, you had to wait for nothing ever. I've never been in a restaurant where the servers worked this way, & can only say I wish all restaurants worked this way. This restaurant provides a truly great dining experience with exceptional food, & exceptional drinks, everything about it is exceptional! I will never find myself in Montreal without eating here. Can't wait to go back! Make reservations, the restaurant isn't large & seems to be in very high demand. So sorry I forgot to take pictures.
Our first time & it was exceptional. Loved sitting at the bar & watching the extremely organized chaos going on in the kitchen. Food & drinks were delicious & I would highly recommend it.
We were greeted by very friendly staff. The server was very knowledgeable about the menu & wine list. He poured our wine for us but never returned to top up our glasses, leaving us to do this ourselves. The support staff were great about topping up our waters. We received our first dishes an hour after we ordered without any communication that they were running behind & our next round of food another 25 minutes after that. The restaurant did not seem busy enough to warrant this. The foie gras, sweet breads & maple sugar fries were excellent but the pork shank & duck in a can were quite greasy & heavy. The restaurant itself looked quite tired. The yelling & ringing of the bell when guests bought drinks for the kitchen was obnoxious & really took away from the atmosphere. Celebrating drinking on the job seemed out of place for a restaurant charging $40-50 a plate.
