We had the pabda & rui - & Shutki & alu bhorta. They were all exquisite. Great food, terrific service - just the kind of meal to warm our bodies & hearts on a cold Montreal day. I cannot recommend this place enough.
If you are looking for authentic Bengali cuisine in Montreal I would highly recommend Appayon! We ordered 1) Appayon special combo( 8.5/10) 2) beef tehari (8/10) (beef was soft & tender) 3) shutki vorta - (6.5/10) (it was not that spicy) 4) rup chada mach - (7.5/10) 5) beef bhuna (8.5/10) 6) dudh cha (8.5/10) Portion size is good & the food was really yummy! Staff & service was good . Price is reasonable. ** Their appayon special roast was too good just like Bangladesh's bie barir roast.
This spot has the best Bengali food ever, it has been meeting quality standards for years now. Very friendly & inviting & the prices are fair. I just drove from Ottawa to Montreal & got the chicken roast & the tea. Highly recommend.
Amazing food! Drove from New Brunswick for some authentic Bengali food 🇧🇩 we will definitely be back Godwilling!
Two years of wait later I finally made time to see the only Bangali restaurant in Montreal! Appayon is a hidden gem that transported us straight to the heart of Bengali cuisine. The flavors at Appayon are spectacular. Each dish bursts with authenticity, carrying the aroma of Bangladeshi cuisine. The menu is a delightful blend of traditional & contemporary dishes. We went as a group so we could try a variety of beef tehari, goru bhuna, morog polao & biriyani, all of which were perfectly crispy & savory. We also paired with fish, cutlets, kebab & bhorta, which were rich, creamy, & bursting with flavor. the chaa made my day! The portions are hearty, satisfying, & perfect for sharing. Whether you're a solo diner or part of a group, you'll leave with a contented belly & a smile. Overall, Appayon Restaurant is a gem in Montréal's dining scene. Whether you're a local or just visiting, this restaurant is a must-visit for any Bangali missing home. Gather your loved ones, savor the flavors, & let the warmth of Bangladeshi hospitality envelop you.
one of the very few Bengali restaurants in Mtl, was pretty excited when I first tried the authentic platter with white rice , alu bhorta & dal & they didnt disappoint. But as I started trying their other meals, altho the taste takes me back to my home country, the oil might take me to the hospital. Too much oil in every meal, muglai was overheated by dipping in oil again & the price is really really overpriced also mandatory tips was very disappointing too
Excellent choice of Bengali cuisine. Delicious food. Service is very good.
Bengali food is the best, hands down. The place is just a bit pricier than could be, & sometimes the amounts of servings feel a bit too little, but taste wise food is amazing. Also a lot of times some menu items are not available & that could be improved.
We recently had the pleasure of dining at Appayon, a hidden gem that transported me straight to the heart of Bengali Kitchen. The flavors at Appayon are nothing short of spectacular. Each dish bursts with authenticity, carrying the soul of Bangladeshi cuisine. Whether you're a fan of aromatic spices or crave comforting stews, this place delivers. I must appreciate their kind & friendly staff. The portions are hearty, satisfying, & perfect for sharing. Whether you're a solo diner or part of a group, you'll leave with a contented belly & a smile. So, gather your loved ones, savor the flavors, & let the warmth of Bangladeshi hospitality envelop you.
Was excited to try this Bengali restaurant. The restaurant itself isn’t attractive; it looks like a canteen. They didn’t not have any of entrees to serve. Then we ordered Kacchi biryani, made of mutton (special of the day). The spices were good, but the meat was too dry & the potatoes were under cooked. The chai was good though. As per service, it was very cold. They never checked on us if we were enjoying our food. When they charged us, they already included the tips which was very presumptuous & awful. P.S. the biryani was way too expensive. I think this was our first & last time here.
Unfortunately, the food is not fresh nor does it reflect true Bengali cuisine. It was really quite a disappointing dining experience. If you are looking for a quick affordable bite & not fussed about the quality or freshness of what you are eating, then this is the place for you. Watch out for the "service tax" that is included in the final bill.
