My husband & I came here tonight for the second time, glad to see a familiar face as our server. Mia was wonderful as last time, & took care of us through our delightful dining experience. We had coffee, appetizers, wine, meals, & dessert, all to perfection. Attended by very pleasant staff & lovely atmosphere, our second visit here guaranteed us a third in the future.
The burrata & grilled bread were honestly incredible, though everyone knows I am the real catch of the evening. If you think you can handle dinner with a girl who actually knows baseball, say hi. I might just let you take me out for a rematch next week.
Great food & even better staff! The tuna tartare was excellent, & the champignon tartelette was a standout. It does get noisy, but that's the only downside - well worth a visit.
Le Serpent is a gem inside of an industrial shell of a building. Beautifully lit interior with lots of natural light, Le Serpent shimmers. The space is clean, hip & buzzing.
The service is top notch. Every server is attentive without being over bearing. You get a true sense that everyone is attuned to your dining experience.
Lastly, the food. Wow. Italian Mediterranean Fusion. Light. Fresh. Sometimes subtle. Sometimes blossoming with rich flavours. I cannot say enough about the brilliant artistry, care & creativity of their menu offerings.
5 x 🍝 🍝 🍝 🍝 🍝
Food
The standout dishes at Le Serpent were the mushroom tart & the crudo, both fresh, flavorful, & easily the most memorable parts of the meal. While the rest of the menu was solid, nothing else truly stood out or left a lasting impression. Overall, the food earns a 7/10.
Atmosphere
The ambiance was more disappointing than expected. The industrial decor felt bland & uninspiring, outdated. The music did little to enhance the dining experience. Rather than feeling inviting , the space came across as tired & lacking energy. The atmosphere receives a 4/10.
Overall Impression
We left Le Serpent feeling underwhelmed. While there were a couple of highlights, the overall experience didn't quite meet expectations. Given the abundance of excellent dining options in Montreal, Le Serpent doesn't stand out enough to warrant a return. I would recommend exploring other restaurants in the city before considering this one.
Had a nice meal there, Good portion overall, finished everything, felt full but not stuffed
Good service. The ambience & lighting is nice.
We were 2, we had: crudo to start, zucchini flower x2, bucatini pork confit, special (some sort of bell pepper pasta with shrimp, I think lemon flavour in the sauce).
The flavours are complex, well balanced overall, ingredients felt quality.
Crudo was nice, one of the fish had yuzu that at times would overpower the fish. Mix of 3 fish, tuna, salmon, I can't remember the last one (that one had the yuzu accent).
The zucchini flower was delicious. Nice sauce on there, light, crispy (had some batter).
The bucatini pork confit, the pork confit is blended into the sauce for a creamy rich sauce, tasty, the black garlic & soy are in the sauce & not highlight flavours, adding umami & complexity in the background.
My friend had the special, which was a pasta I have never seen before & could not find online so I don't know if they just made it, looked like bell peppers, I think there was a hole in the middle so sauce could accumulate in there, it had shrimp, I think there was some lemon in the sauce but it wasn't overly acidic, some brightness to it, I did enjoy the bite I had.
Even though I really enjoyed everything & I will probably go back at some point, it also wasn't a WOW I must tell everyone about this place type of thing? But I did recommend it to some people next time they're in town.
Our bartender, Vicky, gave us wonderful suggestions for our appetizers & entrees. We had the Foie Gras-it was so good, we ordered another! Dinner was the Buccatini pasta & lobster risotto! Both were fabulous!
