Ukiya Izakaya offers a lively Japanese tapas vibe with a broad, affordable menu that shines during happy hour and all you can eat options, while a number of reviews praise the friendly, attentive staff and stylish, cozy atmosphere. The food is generally good and varied, with standout bites like grilled eggplant, beef short rib in a rich sauce, tasty dumplings, takoyaki and sashimi, and many notes on generous drink selections from cocktails to sake, though some dishes can be over fried or under seasoned and a few orders arrive late or are incomplete in the all you can eat format. Service and speed are inconsistent, with some visits described as fast and welcoming and others marked by slow service or misordered tables, and a few diners felt portions or quality did not always meet expectations for the price. Overall Ukiya Izakaya is seen as a reliable, sociable spot for groups or casual meals, strong for drinks and sharing plates, but potential guests should temper expectations on consistency and dish execution.
We booked a large group for the same night, & they were very accomodating & kind about making the reservation. The atmosphere was nice & we all had a good time socializing & catching up. Service was friendly, however, very slow. It took us about 1 hour to get edamame appetizers, & the rest of the food came out astoundingly staggered, leaving some members of our party hungry while others ate. The food itself was extremely underwhelming, & not worth the price. I'm 90% sure the dumplings & takoyaki were made from frozen, & if not, they tasted like they were. Would not return.
My partner & I decided to go after seeing the happy hour deal, not realizing how new it was & ended up waiting in line for over 3 hours. ...we didn't get the deal. But still ate there since we were so hungry & wasn't craving anything else. The food was really good, but the service/staff is a little unorganized & was not prepared for the large crowds. It was our poor servers FIRST DAY, felt so bad but she was very sweet & great! If I learned anything, ALWAYS MAKE A RESERVATION
We were a group of 6 for the happy hour special. Drink & food for $20, great deal. Restaurant was very busy, lineup was 30 or 40 people at some times. We put our phone number down & grabbed a drink next door & came back when we were called. The salmon tartare bites were good. Also the chicken wings. They are so busy during happy hour that service can be a bit slow at times, so plan your orders.
We came for the 3-7 deal, either make a reservation or expect to wait over an hour but it was definitely worth it! The chicken wings were absolutely delicious, crunchy but still juicy, & the tartare was also very tasty. The service was really great, they were really accommodating & patient. Can't wait to come back!
