Ukiya Izakaya comes across as a lively, cozy Japanese tapas spot with a wide shareable menu that includes ramen, bao, skewers and sashimi, and drinks ranging from bold cocktails to generous mocktails, with many reviews praising the friendly and attentive service and the value for money. The all-you-can-eat option and happy hour are repeatedly highlighted as appealing deals, though a few notes mention limits on the buffet offerings and some dishes arriving slowly. Diners frequently praise standout items such as grilled eggplant, marinated beef short rib, grilled mushrooms, takoyaki and a flavorful ramen bowl, while a few dishes like certain fried items or miso soup receive more mixed reactions. The atmosphere is described as welcoming and cozy, with a modern pop vibe and a lively bar scene that suits groups and dates. Service is praised for friendliness and speed when not overwhelmed, though there are occasional complaints about slow service during busy times or gaps in water refills. Prices are considered affordable for the quality and the all-you-can-eat tapas concept, making it a popular choice for those seeking variety and good value. Overall Ukiya Izakaya is seen as a reliable, enjoyable spot that many would return to for drinks, tapas selection and consistent flavors, while some reviewers suggest improvements in menu breadth for vegetarians or in keeping menu images up to date.
ThAnd snow my kind of Japanese restaurant- no sushi at n the menu! Sure they have sashimi, & nothing against sushi per se - when it's done as a high level food experience (almost never in the west), it's excellent; usually, it's fast food.
In this down tempo At Denis eatery their menu has a huge array of fair priced appetizers that are more than filling (& perfect for sharing) as well as ramen & bao & larger plates.
Their sake based cocktails & large selection of sake are impressive. & highly recommended are the grilled oyster mushrooms.
For me, attention to detail is what takes this place to another level - no ice in the water they serve you, the miso soup is dark, food is sometime served on long wooden planks for large groups. Awesome!

IT WAS AWESOME! THE FOOD WAS REALLY GOOD & IT FELT LIKE I WAS EATING THE BEST RAMEN LIKE IN NARUTO & DONT GET ME STARTED ON THE DRINKS WERE SO GOOOD! GET THE RED DRAGON & FANTASY OCEAN🙏🏼
I watched a Montreal youtuber & she recommended this restaurant. So when I was visiting Montreal I figured I'd come & check it out. I was not disappointed. The service was great, even though it was around lunch time I came. The food was great. Try the Ramen bowls. They are awesome. Not overly salty. Very nice balance.

**Amazing Dining Experience!** I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ukiya, & it was truly a fantastic experience. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was warm & inviting. The staff were incredibly friendly & attentive ❤️ The menu offers a great variety of dishes, & everything we tried was absolutely delicious. Their ramen was a standout, bursting with flavor & cooked to perfection. The passionfruit mojito was also exceptional & made for a perfect end to the meal✨ Anddd their oysters are 1$ each!!! It was really good. i went with friends & the vibe was impeccable. I would recommend the chicken ramen with the mojito passion. There's vegetarian options too, which makes this place even grater, as we have struggled in the past to find food that would fit for everyone in our group!
It had been a while since I had Japanese food so I had a craving for some. This was one of the first options that came up on Google so I came for a dinner with my mother after seeing the high reviews. It turned out to be a great find. We ordered a variety of dishes as appetizers & all were delicious. I loved the Gyoza dumplings but the beef skewers were a hit as well. My other ordered salmon & I had shrimp tempura Ramen. We both enjoyed our choices. After that we ordered a matcha cheesecake & a yuzu one for dessert. While both were tasty my preference was for the yuzu cheesecake. The citrus flavours added a nice contrast. Not only is the food delicious but the prices are shockingly reasonable. Eating out has become expensive in Montreal post-pandemic but the prices here were what I would have expected to find pre-pandemic. Given the quality I felt that the value proposition here was excellent. This is a great choice when you are in the Plateau. I'll be adding it to my list of places worth a repeat visit.
Très bon ramen mais petit bémol pour le maïs (ça je comprendrai jamais ^^), accompagné de Umeshu c'est toujours gagnant ! Serveur super sympathique & ambiance décontractée
