Review Summary

Overall, The Rec Room at Royalmount is described as a large, lively arcade and dining spot that works well for families and friends, with a wide range of arcade games including VR, a bracelet and points system, and convenient food and drinks. Reviewers praise the variety of games, the fun atmosphere, and the option to spend hours with affordable unlimited play packages, while noting some concerns about price, occasional game malfunctions, and the ticket rewards being ordinary or not always worth it. Food receives mixed feedback, with some meals praised for quality and portions and others criticized as overpriced or inconsistent, including reports of slow or inattentive service at times, and a few menu items that disappointed. The bar service is frequently mentioned as slow or disorganized during busy periods, though the staff generally come across as friendly and helpful, and improvements have been observed with opening glitches and the new layout. Overall, it is seen as a strong entertainment choice in Montreal for families and groups, with potential for great birthday parties and events if game maintenance and service logistics are kept up.

Really great place but as an establishment with so many kids there why isn't there a snack bar? Slush, popcorn, chocolate bars , candy or at least a vending machine? I mean the one bar/restaurant is ok but ya definitely need a snack ba

Perfect Birthday Venue for Kids & Adults!

We recently hosted our son's birthday party at The Rec Room, & it was a massive success. The kids' party package is incredibly well-designed. Each child received a game bracelet with plenty of points, which kept them entertained for hours.
I was especially impressed with the food; even though it was from the kids' menu, the portions were generous-all the kids were full, & we even had leftovers! The popcorn & drinks were a great touch as well. We ordered from the regular menu for the adults, & everything was delicious. We ended the day by heading to the Cineplex upstairs for a movie. It was the perfect, stress-free birthday celebration. Highly recommend!

There were quite a few issues during our visit that impacted the experience. First, we were seated directly next to the stage. Despite the restaurant being mostly empty, our request to move was denied, which was disappointing.

Service was also lacking. Our server didn't come by for over 20 minutes-not even to take a drink or popcorn order. Partway through our visit, his shift ended, but no one informed us. We were left confused when we couldn't find him anymore.

We ordered several items from the shareables menu: the giant pretzel, lettuce wraps, jumbo chicken wings, & loaded nachos. While we also received a calamari plate by mistake, which we were charged for, all the appetizers were delicious. Most of our group ordered burgers for their mains. While the chicken sandwiches were tasty, all of the burgers were burned & had a strong burnt taste. Mine was so overcooked it had to be remade-& even then, I ended up not eating it. This was extremely disappointing. On a positive note, the mini desserts were enjoyable.

Overall, I'd return only for the shareables or non-grilled items. I wouldn't recommend the burgers or anything off the grill based on this experience

I had a good time with a large group including kids/teenagers on Friday night.

Positives:
- Food was surprisingly good. Tried the Cobb salad, fish tacos, nachos, desserts. Much better quality than Le Cage.
- Nice vibe. Great the kids could play games while enjoying a beer & free popcorn.
- Screens to watch the hockey game.
- Free parking.

Improvements:
- Service. Waiters understaffed so water barely refilled. A couple of orders took too long to fulfil, including missing appetizers, & cold food. Though they were gracious enough to refund the orders.
I found it bizarre there were a lot of bus boys/girls on the floor but the waiter had to be the one refilling water.
- No sound to the hockey game, even after the live band.

Overall positive experience, but I'd come back more often with friends if there were hockey/sports nights with the sound on. I think you're competing with le cage, Boston pizza & the likes especially on a week night. Your food is definitely better than the others.
