Review Summary

The Rec Room is generally considered a vibrant and fun destination for families, friends, and special events, offering a wide array of arcade games and entertainment options that appeal to all ages. While many visitors praise the welcoming atmosphere, clean facilities, and delicious menu items like wings and burgers, others report significant inconsistencies in service quality, including long wait times and unresponsive staff. Concerns were raised regarding the high cost of arcade credits, the maintenance of certain gaming machines, and fluctuating food quality, though many guests remain highly satisfied with the overall experience, noting that attentive staff and effective event hosting can make for a memorable visit.

Great food, affordable prices, cool atmosphere - but HORRIBLE service.

My boyfriend, another couple, & I came for a double date to take advantage of the summer promotion, which included a main course, dessert, & $15 in arcade credits.
The food was great, & everything started off well. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill when it came time to pay & receive our gaming credits.

After everyone paid, I handed the waitress my existing game bracelet so she could load my boyfriend & I's credits onto it. We waited at our table for about 10 minutes, but she never came back. We eventually went inside to see what was happening. She told us the manager was in a meeting & asked us to wait a few more minutes, even though several other staff members & what appeared to be other managers were available.

When the manager finally arrived, it took another 10 minutes just to figure out how to load the gaming credits onto our bracelets. By the time we received them, we had already spent around 20 minutes waiting.

After we finally started playing in the arcade, the manager came running around looking for me. She told me the waitress was new & had charged me incorrectly. We had to stop what we were doing & return to the restaurant while they reviewed the receipts. After another wait, she told me I actually owed $2 because I had used my existing bracelet.

This made no sense, as the promotion states that the gaming credits can be loaded onto an existing bracelet. If you don't have one, a new bracelet only costs $3. I still don't understand why I was being charged an extra $2.

The food & prices were excellent, but the lack of training, poor communication, & the amount of time wasted dealing with something that should have taken a minute completely took away from the experience.

The best place in ROYALMOUNT Mall with plenty of games for everyone, Huge wall mounted tv's & a friendly kitchen service for snacks. Job well done!

Don't recommend for a birthday party. Cost me $560 for 7 kids & half of them got sick from the pizza, which was poor quality & dripping in grease. Food was awful. It's way too loud. Games were just ok, nothing special. Staff were friendly & helpful.

Great service, Great food, Great atmosphere, & Great entertainment!
We had a great time for my daughter's birthday party. Kids loved playing all games & shopping. We as parents, just sit & eat & drink! $$$ was not bad at all. We had a birthday package deal!
The Rec Room Royalmount is located very convenient location for both Metro & car users! Simply eat, drink, & have a lot of fun, then go home with Metro! You don't have to drive to the bunny-land, West-Island, to have birthday party anymore.

I came with my friends to eat & watch a game & were surprised by how good the wings are! Our server Jorge was super attentive & gave us amazing recommendations, even told us we could use the scene + card which I didnt know before🤩 10/10 will come back!

This place could be better …

No ambiance of the game

Food was burnt & others that adding fancy stuff it was really bland & my chicken wings was overcooked & didnt want to ask for another one

Waiter even forced us to pay 18%

Lol what a weak move on his part

It might be a high end place but the quality & service was nowhere near the 18% tip that was automatically included in our bill.

Might be a scam but just wanted to let yall nnow about it

But the kids had fun with the arcades

Alot of choices but no intial d

Bummer lol

Id come back for the arcades but never for the food

I dont recommend this unless they improve

Love going here! It's a cool arcade for the kids. Just be careful with the machines, they sometimes charge you & the game doesn't load, so you have to go to the tickets kiosk & tell them, they will reload your bracelet :)) they have some VR games too which is cool. Nice place for kids, adults too if that's your thing 😍

Avoid live events. They hire disappointing hosts.

For trivia, the guy:
- handed prizes out to whoever he wanted without asking questions,
- selectively gave specific tables the chance to answer questions (preventing others from participating)
- tossed small trinkets (that we couldn't choose) to the other tables without saying a word to acknowledge them,
- set prizes aside for his friends
- kept some prizes for himself; some were never even on display
- he got lazy, drew out full boxes of prizes.
- Too invested in the game that he was barely present as a host. He also left the premises for part of the time (taking his coat off & sitting by the bar).
-> At that point, why bother hiring someone for trivia? Just ask the staff to do a raffle; it would have been more fair & less distracting/unfair.
-They should find a new host for their events altogether. I wouldn't go to any more events if they kept this host.

DJs: you have to wonder if they hire from the same family. Their DJs can't read a room if multiple tables just get up, & nobody who stayed dances, there's room for insight.

Food is pretty good. I wish they would bring back daily deals.
