The Keg Steakhouse + Bar opened the doors of its first restaurant in 1971 in Vancouver. Since then, The Keg has expanded across Canada and the US to include over 100 locations. I booked online for dinner, party of 6, it was a breeze. Parking is tricky with Montreal never-ending construction. We were seated right away. Outstanding & efficient service. I had the lobster bisque, it's my favorite & they make it so well. The bread is always fresh & hot off the oven with amazing butter. I had to control myself & not take more bread 😂 as I was offered. We all ordered the steak to be medium. Mine was more toward medium-well but was good. The top sirloin was fantastic. The fries were great, not greasy, perfectly salted. The Pina Colada was very well made, 10/10. We were full so didn't have dessert or coffee but will do that next time around. A solid recommendation if you're in the mood for stake, just emphasize how you want your meat done.View more

My family & I never bother looking for restaurants when it's someone's birthday we are at The Keg because we are never disappointed but we unfortunately had a different experience at this location. Our steaks didn't feel & taste fresh & my medium well steak was well done, dry in the center & tough. The calamari was great as usual though. One of my sisters steaks was bitter to taste & overcooked so she had it redone... now her new steak was good & tasted fresh & exactly like it should have (Glad she had a good steak). I'm giving the restaurant a 3 simply because I can't remove points for service & atmosphere.View more

Our dinner here was fantastic! My husband's escargot was the best he's ever had. The lobster Bisque was also outstanding! We each had the ribeye steak, which was cooked to perfection & very flavorful! We enjoyed it very much!View more

If I could give 10 stars I would! Best steaks I've ever eaten in my life! The environment is beautiful, luxurious, & at the same time cozy. Perfect for any occasion. The service is extremely professional & friendly. We went with friends, & we had a little mix up with the order, & some dishes were wrong. Because some of us got his order later & the whole company couldn't eat all together, staff apologized sincerely, redid all the dish (not just the steak but also replaced potatoes that were getting cold) & gave us each a dessert option on the house. Very slow service - waited over half an hour to get our apéritifs & then starters came straight after & before the wine. Steaks were ok - nothing special & chips were past their best - warm & soggy. Generally disappointing& all round average. They need more staff & I expect a steakhouse to do better with their steaks.View more

Incredible service!! Our server, Angelo, was delightful, & went above & beyond to accommodate every one of us. Claire, the manager, was terrific & explained how the chefs would prepare our food according to our dietary needs. Edit March 2024: We came back & this time The Keg stood up to their standards. They do serve beets as a standatd side for steak but at least they tell you in advance now. From easy booking, to attentive service & excellent meal, our family had a great time! Thank you! Dissapointed! For our 15th anniversary, it used to be our "go to" place, & we were always beyong satisfied. Sadly this year: our waiter was polite but very rushed, running away while we were trying to ask for something, kid's burger was miserable & therefore not eaten, lobster bisque painfully salty, teriyaki steak a burnt shoesole (asked for medium), & overal the food quality went down to cafeteria level. Very sad, we are not coming back.View more

Food was excellent, atmosphere was excellent...the service was great until it was time to pay. Why? Because when the server gave me the pay machine, it was already set on the « tip » page as if the server was EXPECTING a tip...that's a huge "faut pas" in the service industry. « Great service » requires that you do not ask for tip (subjectively or directly), you let the client decide. So when it's time to pay, enter the amount of the bill, then give the pay machine to the client while it is still on the « amount to pay » page from which the client can confirm that the right amount was entered by the server, then the client will proceed himself/herself to the « tip » page. It's very disappointing coming from such a fine restaurant, renowned for their steak & service. Hopefully this trend stops or our group will not eat at this location again. Sincerely.View more

Sat in the lounge Feb 15th for a 9pm reservation. I wish we remembered our server's name but he was wonderful! We were sat on time, in a booth, which I asked for in the reservation notes. $150 for rib steak, 14oz prime rib & sangria pitcher before tip. Quite pricey to me but I don't go to these type of places, I was given a gift card, so maybe that's on the cheap end of steakhouse prices? I'll leave that for you to decide. I'd definitely go back if given another gift card (or if I had the money to spare) & I must say it was the best steak I've ever eaten! Perfectly rare throughout, verging near blue rare close to the bone which is my preference. Their steak knives are incredibly dull though, pretty difficult to cut with. Sangria pitcher was huge & strong for the price. My partner liked the prime rib but said he preferred the steak I ordered- from trying the prime rib, it was a bit dry & I wouldn't really recommend it if you're craving steak. However it was the last of that size for the night, so it's probably better earlier in the day. The red wine sauce was great. Again, our server was absolutely fantastic & made sure the kitchen had the prime rib in the size we wanted. So in short, if you're comfortable with the price, I'd recommend this place.View more

We celebrated my husband's birthday last night at The Keg. This was our first disappointment at The Keg The restaurant was empty. Our waiter, Daniel, was excellent & very attentive. The sour bread was spectacular, as was our appetizer- the Blue Cheese wedge salad. My husband & our friend each ordered the steak with a lobster tail. I ordered the prime rib. We all requested medium rare beef. Although the meat came as requested, the rib was dry, with no juice & cold. Both men mentioned the lobster was delicious, but their beef was tough. Daniel surprised us with a delicious Mocha ice cream birthday wedge for dessert, which was very much appreciated. This was the only time in decades that we were disappointed in The Keg.View more

What an amazing place in old montreal. We went there since their place in downtown was close. Loved everything about this place - inside & outside. The area has an awesome vibe. So does the restaurant itself. Food was awesome, service was great, ambiance was perfect. Would love to go back someday. Although I ordered blackened chicken, steak here was excellent as per others in the group.View more

5-Stars all round this was an amazing evening. Visited with work colleagues early Nov 23. Service was excellent. I really liked that the servers knew the menu & could recommend dishes. Main course I had the prime rib which is probably one of, if not best steak I have ever tasted. So beautifully cooked, great marbling & horseradish cleared my head. Thanks to the team. While away on our anniversary weekend, we needed a new place to eat. We stopped in, steak & bar sounded good. The steals were cooked to perfection. I'm not sure if this is a Canadian thing, but there were no condiments, ketchup, steak sauce, salt, or pepper readily available on the table.
