The Keg in Old Montreal never disappoints! From the moment we walked in, the service was warm & attentive. The ambiance perfectly blends cozy & elegant, with beautiful stone walls & low lighting that make it feel extra special.
We ordered the filet mignon & rib steak ; both were cooked to perfection & full of flavor. The sides were just as impressive, especially the garlic mashed potatoes & seasonal vegetables. The cocktails were also excellent, & their wine selection paired beautifully with the meal.
What really stood out was the service , our server was friendly, knowledgeable, & timed everything perfectly. Whether you're celebrating something special or just enjoying a great night out, The Keg in Vieux Montréal is a top-notch choice. Highly recommend making a reservation!View more
Top 3 one of the best steakhouse in Montreal, all beef are dry aged to the perfection with a very good portion of food, you will not leave this place hungry, that's for sure. Overall, service was impeccable with a very chill atmosphere! Highly recommend the rib steakView more
Great steak!! The Rib Steak is to die for, but better be hungry, it is huge.View more
The Keg was easily the best meal my group had on our weekend in Montreal. The four of us all got steaks & a couple cocktails. Between us we had a prime rib, a top sirloin, & 2 filet mignon. They were all top quality & well prepared. One of our group had a food allergy. The manager came to our table to assure us of the precautions the kitchen was taking to ensure the food was safe for her allergy. The service was great. Prompt, friendly, & attentive the entire time. The atmosphere in the lounge was relaxed but upscale. Overall wonderful experience!View more
Best rib steak in mtl, ask for rare Chicago style, if you have a chance to be served by Greg at the bar, you guys are in for a treat & if you're from out of town he has great cool spots for you to try!View more
At a steak house we surely ordered beef steaks without hesitation. Keg classics sounds like combos which include salads & accompaniments such as patatos or mushed califlower along with the main course steaks. Besides the "combo" appetizer or soup are additional orders not including in Keg Classics. We ordered escargots as appetizers & top sirloin 6oz & prime rib 10 oz. The foods are very presentable in good looking. & beef "medium" cooked as we requested. Only two regrets: the first, Prime rib steak was roasted not grilled compared to grilled top sirloin steak; the second, the garlic mushed patoto, twice cooked patato & escargots are bit too salty. But overall, everything is good. Service is OK too.View more
Great location, great ambience, great service & great food. Located in one of the best streets in Montreal for drinks & food, the place is really big with seats inside & outside during summer. Love their Prime rib & it comes with lots of sides, the twice baked potato is my suggestion, even the salad is a treat. There is seafood available if you want to mix it up, also a great option. Good wines & beers too. Definitely on the expensive side depending on what is ordered but worth it.View more
Food mostly ok, but the lukewarm IPA beer was terrible. Tartare to start nothing to write-home about, the steaks & ribs were excellent. The place is too big, dark & loud music, very generic atmosphereView more
The best steak I've had at any Keg location in Canada. Was not expecting much as it's in the tourist area in Old Montreal. Blown away by the service, food & quality. I was I wasn't so full before I got there. My wife & I shared the 20z Rib Steak. YumView more

We visited this location on the 13th of June, 2024. It was my husband's bday & he loves the prime rib. This time, however, the prime rib was not good. We each had one & they were tiny & not the same usual amazing flavours. On top of that, the fire alarm was screeching & blaring for 15 - 20 mins. They gave us our soft drinks for free & the bill with tax & tip was still 130$. Very disappointed.View more
Qualité de la nourriture correct, service impeccable & ambiance bonne. Frites congelées & rib steak manque de saveur. Pour le prix affiché ça pourrais être mieux.View more
There's nothing like a great rib steak! This is the place!!View more
Great food. Slow service, especially when leaving. Took nearly 20 minutes between asking for the check & it being brought to our table. Otherwise great eatery. Best thing we ate by far was the Gruyére Mushroom Dip. The bread was fresh, light & crispy. The dip was perfectly spiced creamy & decadent. The ribs were good but the side sauce outshined the meat in that dish. The fries were soggy & under seasoned.View more
Sat in the lounge Feb 15th for a 9pm reservation. I wish we remembered our server's name but he was wonderful! We were sat on time, in a booth, which I asked for in the reservation notes. $150 for rib steak, 14oz prime rib & sangria pitcher before tip. Quite pricey to me but I don't go to these type of places, I was given a gift card, so maybe that's on the cheap end of steakhouse prices? I'll leave that for you to decide. I'd definitely go back if given another gift card (or if I had the money to spare) & I must say it was the best steak I've ever eaten! Perfectly rare throughout, verging near blue rare close to the bone which is my preference. Their steak knives are incredibly dull though, pretty difficult to cut with. Sangria pitcher was huge & strong for the price. My partner liked the prime rib but said he preferred the steak I ordered- from trying the prime rib, it was a bit dry & I wouldn't really recommend it if you're craving steak. However it was the last of that size for the night, so it's probably better earlier in the day. The red wine sauce was great. Again, our server was absolutely fantastic & made sure the kitchen had the prime rib in the size we wanted. So in short, if you're comfortable with the price, I'd recommend this place.View more
We celebrated my husband's birthday last night at The Keg. This was our first disappointment at The Keg The restaurant was empty. Our waiter, Daniel, was excellent & very attentive. The sour bread was spectacular, as was our appetizer- the Blue Cheese wedge salad. My husband & our friend each ordered the steak with a lobster tail. I ordered the prime rib. We all requested medium rare beef. Although the meat came as requested, the rib was dry, with no juice & cold. Both men mentioned the lobster was delicious, but their beef was tough. Daniel surprised us with a delicious Mocha ice cream birthday wedge for dessert, which was very much appreciated. This was the only time in decades that we were disappointed in The Keg.View more
I visited The Keg for the first time ever one weekday evening & I was greeted by friendly front of house staff who got us seated at a table within a few minutes. Our table waiter was pleasant & took time to go through the menu with me. After deciding on our dishes there was a fair bit of wait time between the appetizer & the main, there seem to have been a shortage of workers on the floor. The blackened chicken was terribly salty (I am sure it would have had good flavour if it wasn't for the amount of salt used) The BBQ ribs was not that flavourful either, but the mashed potato, fries, was good. The corn biscuit was too hard but has a decent flavour to it. The Atmoshere was dimly lit which was nice, but even though it wasn't noisy, the sounds of dinnerware breaking (more than once) was enough to ruin the ambiance. The location is nice, but for the price & quality of the food I personally would not be eager to visit again.View more
5-Stars all round this was an amazing evening. Visited with work colleagues early Nov 23. Service was excellent. I really liked that the servers knew the menu & could recommend dishes. Main course I had the prime rib which is probably one of, if not best steak I have ever tasted. So beautifully cooked, great marbling & horseradish cleared my head. Thanks to the team. Really great night out in Montreal as a visitor.View more
