We were those people who couldn't figure out how to get in! Finally saw a review with a picture of the door. The drinks were amazing, & the ambiance was perfect for a relaxing drink after work. The architecture is gorgeous.

A unique experience at The Cold Room! As a true speakeasy, finding it was quite a challenge, which adds to its charm. The key is to look for a black door with an emergency exit sign featuring a rubber duck. Ring the bell & wait... it's worth it! The cocktails were well-crafted, but what really impressed me was the extensive selection of whiskeys, especially Canadian ones. The place was spotless, very professional service, & although the prices are on the higher side, the quality makes up for it. Definitely a spot to return to!
When I arrived at the set address for a friend's birthday, I got lost & ended up in the smallest bar restaurant in Montreal! So one thing about The Coldroom, is that it maintains the essence of what it means to be a speakeasy! When we arrived, we were escorted to our seats by our server for the night, our server was quick, efficient & told us all we needed to know about speakeasy culture an the menu items for the night. I opted for a drink similar to a Bloody Mary & I thoroughly enjoyed it! The snacks on the other had were just okay. The atmosphere was lovely & it's definitely a place I would return to with friends!
This is one bar I love. You have to look for the plain black door with a doorbell. Once inside you are escorted down a flight of stairs & into the bar. Atmosphere was perfect with the right balance of music. Everyone there is very friendly. Don't forget to bring your duck.

2024: friendly efficient service on a Tuesday. Drinks were great, I had the Money Talks & Rice to Meet You which were balanced & strong. Love the cute duck menu but not sure where they're going with the uninspired decor. Music wasn't memorable either. 2019: Great service & decent drinks but was a bit disappointed considering the amazing Christmas pop-up bar was created by the same people. Despite being a speakeasy, it didn't really have any sort of classy loungey vibe like all the others, & felt more like a pub atmosphere.
Fun little place. The speakeasy part of it just means they have an unmarked door (look for it across the street from Bevo) - they're not snooty or exclusive in any way. Good cocktails, full & with hip music, but not overly packed/loud - they keep a good balance.
A dimly lit, super cute speak easy that wasn't easy to find but not impossible! Loved the vibe inside that had quite a bit of seating both at the bar & table. Drink selection was unique & you'll want to have a bit of an adventurous palette.

Aube, Camille & Francis made our visit the best experience ever. They are super friendly, helpful & a lot of fun. The atmosphere is cozy & a great vibe. Francis is very knowledgeable on all things whiskey. Wish I lived closer, I would be a regular for sure!
Excellent speakeasy!! Very hidden (loved it) with a short walk down the stairs after ringing the doorbell. It's across from Bevo, you will probably miss it but that's okay someone will direct you. If you're serious about well crafted cocktails then you are at the right spot!!
Endroit cozy ou allez prendre un bon verre de whisky, ils ont une grande variété à déguster & les cocktails sont très bon. Parcontre j'étais venue une soirée seule & je n'ai pas trop apprécié la serveuse qui m'a servie. Elle est quasiment partie avec mon éventail après qu'elle l'ai complimenté comme quoi qu'il étais « très beau » après avoir pris ma commande sur la table.
