Afficher toutpasta(40) italian(37) recommend(33) dishes(20) tasting menu(18) pates(17) attentive(16) tiramisu(15) kitchen(14) chef(13) fresh(11) bar(11)My friend & I visited Stellina on Sunday night with a last minute reservation & the only seats available were at the bar, which offered the perfect view of the open kitchen. Watching the chefs work was a treat in itself. The kitchen was incredibly organized, with each dish prepared with such attention to detail that it was almost like watching a performance. You could see the professionalism in every plate they sent out. We started with the Funghi Saltimbocca antipasto. For our main dishes, we went with two pasta selections: Taglioni & Rigatoni alla Carbonara. The carbonara seemed to be a crowd favorite; we saw it coming out frequently & quickly understood why. Rich, creamy, & delicious, it's a must-try.
Nice comfortable restaurant atmosphere with very nice cocktails. However, the food quality was mediocre at best with most dishes being over sauced, & filled with an excess amount of ricotta cheese... very unnecessary, The beauty of Italian food is in its simplicity..& pasta being the simplest to cook.
Service was fantastic , intimate ambiance & pasta so simple yet so complex it was like i was back in Italy.
Can't say no to homemade pasta! The food is delicious & you can taste the quality. Will definitely revisit. Thank you!
Would have given 5 stars but hear me out. I come regularly for the Agnolotti, but last time I was here there was a bone in my pasta which almost broke my tooth, & when I asked the server, he just looked at me & said "oh" before leaving. He did not ask me to change my plate, did not offer anything else, nothing...for a 35-40$ small plate of pasta, you expect way better service. Very disappointed in my last experience, which left a sour taste in my mouth. Debating whether I'll be back or not.
Great wine collection! Pastas are delicious but menu options could use some improvement. Espresso martini is a must try!
I had the lobster pasta, it was good but not worth $70 not much lobster in it. The service was great however. Focaccia was also not my favorite. We saw someone near us get the tasting menu & I would opt for that instead. Especially if they still have lobster left.
Superbe restaurant. L ambiance est bonne quoique le volume de la musique est passablement élevé les soirs de week-end. Le service est bon, les pastas sont delicieuses, bonne carte des vins. Les portions sont petites donc je suggère de commander plusieurs assiettes & de partager.
We live in the neighborhood & we were definitely sleeping all this time for not going to Stellina! Both of the pasta dishes were beyond, the entrées very fresh & savoury & so were the cocktails. I'm also vegetarian & they accommodated me very easily :)
Beautiful restaurant, however, me & my girlfriend didn't like the drink or the food that much. We ordered a Limoncello & thought it was very plain, not really what we expected. Same thing with the pasta. The waitress was very professional & kind, the food didn't take long & the atmosphere was great.
Beautiful dining room, incredible Italian food! So many fun pasta shapes & dishes, was hard to choose what to get so will be coming back to try another! Tiramisu was also one of the best I've ever had
The person who left the review below me is angry she got carbohydrates served in a restaurant specialized in pastas. The food is amazing & the burrata was the thing we liked the most. Recommend so much if you're visiting Montreal even if the price is a bit high.
I love the concept & ambiance of this place. Sat at the bar, & the drinks were good. However, the food wasn't up to our standard. We disliked half of what we ordered. Despite calling ahead to ask about vegan options, I found there wasn't much choice upon speaking to the chef. I ended up with a mediocre pasta with tomato sauce, which I had to heavily season with hot sauce for flavor. The salad I ordered as an entre (INSALATA) cost $22, which I found ridiculous for the portion & ingredients. My friend had the bone marrow & oxtail pasta called'Angolotti'; he said it was bland, lacked flavor, & the portion was insufficient for the $35 price tag. When our bartender/waitress asked how it was & we expressed dissatisfaction, she simply took the plate away without further inquiry. Another friend had a creamy pasta that he found overly rich, & he informed the waitress. They also ordered the octopus entré ($28) to share, which they both disliked. The waitress kindly removed it from the bill but only compensated one of them with bread & a sauce, & then charged us for this'compensation.' They also shared the mushroom & prosciutto entré (funghi saltimbocca $23), which they found okay. Some of us left hungry. The service was decent, with hardworking waitstaff & an okay waitress/bartender. Overall, I recommend this place for drinks with friends. However, the food was not great & overpriced. I might return to try the actual menu once my vegan diet is over. For now, I'm giving this restaurant 2 stars. I hope this review helps both the business & the customers.
2 stars just because the service was good. The food was awfully bad. No taste. The pasta was really bad. There are much better places for the price (even for less).
Quite possibly the best pasta I've ever eaten & I've taken a two week trip through Italy!
3.5 stars Let's start with the service, the waitress was amazingly nice & patient with us. She took the time to give explanations & her recommandations. As for the atmosphere, it feels very elegant & cozy, we loved the whole decor. For the food, the pasta are homemade on the spott, & it really shows. However the price to portion ratio was not satisfying for us. I ordered the agnolotti for 35$ & I had about 10 pasta in my plate, & the food was not hot. I understand that we pay for freshness & quality, but the portion just was very deceiving for me. However, my friends ordered the lobster pasta & that portion was rather reasonable for 2 persons (it was meant to be shared), but it was 40$ per person. So the food was good, but nothing out of the extraordinary. There are better italian places in Montréal which are more worth the price.
**Stellina: A Taste of Authentic Italy in Montreal** Nestled in the vibrant culinary landscape of Montreal, Stellina stands out as a delightful haven for lovers of authentic Italian cuisine. From the moment you step inside, the aroma of fresh herbs & simmering sauces transports you straight to the heart of Italy. **Food: 4.5/5** Stellina boasts a menu that captures the essence of Italian flavors, & the dishes served during my lunch visit did not disappoint. The pasta was cooked to perfection, & the sauces were rich & full-bodied. The simplicity & authenticity of the ingredients shone through, creating a memorable dining experience. However, the menu, while delightful, could benefit from a touch more variety. **Service: 5/5** The service at Stellina is impeccable. Attentive, friendly, & knowledgeable, the staff contributed significantly to the overall positive experience. Recommendations were spot-on, & the pace of the meal was well-managed, allowing us to savor each course. **Ambiance: 3.5/5** While the restaurant's interior exudes a cozy & intimate atmosphere, the noise level during lunch was notably high. The clatter of dishes & the hum of conversation made it challenging to engage in a quiet tête-à-tête. If you prefer a more serene dining experience, an evening visit might be more suitable. **Overall Experience: 4/5** Stellina is undoubtedly a gem for those seeking an authentic Italian dining experience in Montreal. The flavorful dishes & top-notch service make it a standout choice for any food enthusiast. While the noise level during lunch was a minor drawback, it did not overshadow the overall positive impression left by Stellina. For an Italian culinary journey that feels like a trip to the heart of Rome, Stellina is a must-try in the Montreal restaurant scene.
We went to Stellina for lunch. The food & service were excellent. The pasta was just perfect. It also looked tpo pretty to eat.
I recommend to ask to sit by the kitchen bar. It's a dinner & a show in one. The chef's are simply amazing & entertaining. The food is flavourful & portions are decent. We tried the $80 tasting menu & the server picked out some great choices. The ravioli & the pasta with cream sauce & 36 month old aged parmesan is to die for....all the antipasto choices he gave us were incredible. They have such a passion to make you a great meal & bring an authentic atmosphere & recipes to the table. Bravo & I will definitely be going again before I leave Montreal.
