Beautiful restaurant with very attentive service. The vitello tonato, pasta carbonara, risotto & desserts were outstanding.
I am writing this review quite late, as my visit was about a year & a half ago, so things may have changed since then. Based on my experience, however, this was one of the worst restaurants I have been to in Montreal.
The pasta was not properly cooked, & our orders were mixed up. I asked for no bacon, yet my husband received the bacon free dish instead. We were also charged for bread, which is almost unheard of in an Italian restaurant.
Prices were extremely high for what was offered. With two pasta dishes & one or two appetizers, the bill was easily around 200 dollars. The only reason I am giving two stars is the location. The Old Port is beautiful, but I would recommend trying other restaurants instead.
The food is incredible, I highly recommend the bone marrow. We had 4 different pasta dishes at our table & this was the best one. The service however, was noticeably off & you can just tell they have communication issues between staff.
The food runners were amazing, but they did not know much about our food, & what was what, lol. They just brought the dishes out & you can tell the servers don't talk to them much, so hard to order through them. They were great though.
We weren't checked one once during our main course, which was really unfortunate because we wanted to order wine with our pasta, finally our server came once we were all pretty much done. After that we weren't checked in on again, & we wanted to order dessert. We flagged our server down (again) to ask for a dessert menu, which she just handed to us, & didnt say anything. Finally when she returned, we ordered one of the desserts (there's only 4, which is fine) & she said they were all out! It's like damn, why not say that as you deliver it. It would have been nice to have been talked to more & considered during our meal. Maybe it wasn't her day, we all have off days, but we left as a result & ended up going to Monarch a few doors down & the difference in service was night & day!
We shared 2 main dishes of pasta, & ended up ordering a third one after because of how good it was
The food is delicious, the best pasta in Montreal.
I recommend the tiramisu & the crudo.
The service is attentive at all times & very friendly. It's a shame that the noise is so loud that it's difficult to talk. But none of that matters because the flavour is exceptional.
Absolutely amazing little restaurant. Cute for a fun date night. The staff is phenomenal & we felt 100% taken care of every minute we were there. The food is delicious. My meal was a 4 star (Tagliolini) because as delicious as it was, it was basically just butter & Parmesan with pasta, though still very well done. My boyfriend's dish (Tagliatelle ragu) was incredible, I enjoyed it more than mine. The homemade pasta is so good! We had an entree of homemade focaccia with a prosciutto butter which was uniquely flavorful. Also shout-out to the bartenders who truly know how to make the best drinks. Will definitely be back to try more from the menu.
I've eaten at Stellina at least 10 times so far & it's by far THE BEST Italian food in Quebec!! I am Italian & I own Italian restaurants & outside of a burger or a steak I only eat Italian & Stellina is it!!
The design is the perfect balance incorporating modern design with the rich architectural elements the historic Montreal architecture provides as a base. Well done designer !! 👏👏
The pastas are best described with one word
WOW!!
I'll be back again for sure.
Tonight was our 3rd time here within the last year or so & this is the second time we've had a bad experience. The first time was lovely, the food was amazing & the service was solid. The second time the food came cold, but still it was an overall decent experience.
Tonight we came in & the pasta was hard, definitely undercooked & when we brought it to our servers attention at 10:10pm, she let us know that's how it was supposed to be. We explained we had been here a couple times before & there was a noticeable difference this time to which she suggested taking it home to cook it longer… it took from 10:10 to 10:40 to get our bill even though I would not consider this to be a busy night compared to the others visited. Overall I would have to say it's not worth it anymore & to spend your time eating better pasta in the city.
Stumbled across this restaurant en route to another. What a great find! Outstanding pasta dishes & attentive & professional service.
Dinner at Stellina was truly enjoyable. The service was exceptional-professional, warm, & clearly experienced. The staff made us feel welcome & taken care of throughout the evening.
The pasta was outstanding, full of flavor & perfectly cooked. We also loved the fresh bread & well-crafted drinks that complemented the meal nicely. But the real standout was the tiramisu. It was recommended to us, & I'm so glad we took that advice-it was absolutely divine & the perfect way to end the meal.
Stellina is a great spot for anyone who appreciates quality Italian food, thoughtful service, & a cozy, elevated dining atmosphere. Highly recommended!
Always have a great time at Stellina.
The food is delicious, the ambiance is warm & inviting, & the staff is lovely. I often come here to relax after work, but it's also a perfect spot for a cozy date night. I especially loved their burrata & pasta so fresh & flavorful. The dishes also came out quickly, which I really appreciated.
I'm giving 4 stars only because the beef/meat dishes aren't quite to my taste, but that's just personal preference. Overall, I really enjoy this restaurant & highly recommend it :)
Food was just ok & portions were very small. 2 out of 3 pastas were extremely salty. Only thing we all really enjoyed was the tiramisu. On the other hand service was great but will not be returning theres better restaurants
I only have good things to say about this place. It can often be a hit or miss with new Italian restaurants opening in the city since the MTL market is super saturated with them. We had a prior reservation at Dinette Marcella, which failed due to a reservation error on their end. We were able to secure a table at the Chef's bar at Stellina rapidly & without fuss. We were well greeted, & the service was super professional. The ambiance was lively, & our food was well-prepared & delicious. I would highly recommend it for anyone looking for high-quality pasta in a more upscale environment. Perfect for dates, groups or even solo dining. Keep up the great work, guys.
The dinner was good but not brilliant. My chocolate torta (tart not cake) must have been plated & then refrigerated: it & the caramel sauce were cold. Our two pasta dishes were good but, at $35-36 each, rather pricey. There are better Italian restaurants in Montreal.
✨Incroyable. ✨
The photos sure does not do justice for the taste of the food & the impeccable service. ( you get to see them whip up that amazing pasta bc of the open kitchen) & that Tiramisu… 💖
I was a bit disappointed with the food the plates & presentation were pretty but didnt blow me away. I thought they lacked in flavour & wow factor & the pasta was s little dry. The service was excellent our server was very friendly, good social skills & knew his menu very well. He made the experience nice but unfortunately i will not be going back since the food wasn't impressive.
We were recommended to Stellina From our hotel, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to our expectations. It looked OK inside, but the food was all right. We ordered two appetizers & two pastas, & the appetizers were better than the pastas. Unfortunately we waited like 50 minutes for the pastas, & then when they came, the Parmesan cheese was just slapped on one side of the pasta, & it was also very bland that I had to ask for some salt. The agnolotti was supposed to have some bone marrow? But I think it was like a tiniest piece of it. Overall, I had very high expectation of this restaurant because it was recommended to us from our hotel, & yeah. For their price, we Expected a little more. Womp womp. Their drinks were good though.
