Used to love this place, but i guess 27$ doesn't even get you a fresh smoothie bowl anymore. Received a smoothie bowl that was very clearly prepared days ago & frozen - then not even properly thawed i.e. some of the fruit toppings / the sides of the smoothie still frozen solid. Considering the already very steep prices I do not expect corner-cutting like this.
Love Spirulina! First time at this location I ordered my regular Strawberry peanut butter smoothie & the muffin however I was waiting very long for my smoothie! They kept trying to make it because it was liquidity.. the employees had their backs turned to the customers just a little unprofessional I find

I've usually loved Spirulina but this new location could definitely make its experience better. First of all, the wait was so long! Tell me why I am waiting for a smoothie for 25mins. Especially since they are in premade Ziploc bags…Like come on. Not to mention I paid 14$ for my smoothie. Also, when the employees call out your name, you can't hear anything, so people don't even come get their drinks; they just stand there & people accumulate in front of the counter for no reason. The employees looked overwhelmed, there were like 20 receipts on the counter & I honestly feel bad for them. The place is cute but the experience is horrible.
I've loved Spirulina Cafés for years & have always had great experiences at other locations, which is why this visit was so disappointing.
I placed a pickup order at 11:50, & only received it at 12:20, meaning I waited about 20 minutes past the pickup time. At one point, there was even confusion about my order being cancelled, which may have caused a small delay - but even taking that into account, the wait felt excessive for a simple smoothie & a salad that is usually pre-prepared. Knowing this cafe in its other locations, I know it is not normal. Because of this delay, I ended up missing an appointment.
What was especially frustrating is that customers who ordered at the counter after me were served almost immediately, while my prepaid pickup order seemed to be overlooked. For a café meant to be convenient & efficient for people grabbing something quickly, this really defeats the purpose of ordering ahead.
That said, I genuinely felt for the staff - they seemed very understaffed & overwhelmed, & it didn't look like they were set up to handle rushes properly. I want to highlight Creation, who was very kind, helpful, & professional despite the situation. Unfortunately, the experience at the cash felt less helpful overall, even considering how busy it was.
It's just unfortunate because this location is so well-situated & has the potential to be a great grab-&-go spot, but if service continues to be this slow, it becomes impractical to stop by.
I really hope this location improves its organization & pickup order process, because Spirulina has always been a go-to for me, & I'd love to see this location meet the same standard as the others.
Spirulina has been our go-to for healthy lunch or smoothies for 2 years but this new Sherbrooke location is amazing! Lots of seating, light, airy ambiance & the menu we love. There are also lots of new items for sale here too in the expanded space. Whether you need a snack, coffee, matcha, smoothie or a proper lunch, Spirulina is an excellent choice.
