My husband & I are visiting from out of town so we chose Sel Noir because we wanted a steak & something close by. The restaurant at first had a fine dining feel to it. It was nice BUT the wait staff changed my opinion. We were unsure of who our waiter was & it felt like you were more at a burger joint. We had three different people at our table. The girl who gave us our check came in for a minute (apparently it was her night off) & then left immediately after cashing us out. I guess she decided to help out for a second.
Secondly, our steak was cut in four pieces, not all the way sliced though. We both ordered ribeyes. In my fifty years I have never had a steak presented to me this way. Was the chef checking for the temperature or the wellness? Anyways we'll try another place next time.
Good & friendly service... nice ambiance... solid experience. Great cook on the steak. Enjoy the salmon gravlax & the burratta to start. Split the surf n turf for 2. Which is a very generous portion. Really nice crust on the tomahawk... ive been back a few times... really holds up**
Went back in November... it holds up. The new French onion soupnwith short rib is amazing.
We went yesterday for our anniversary. Was so excited to go here as my husband wanted steak. I'm unfortunately a vegetarian & they ran out of everything they had options for me to have. The waitress was so kind but, I don't think we would ever go back. No flavour not the best food. Not worth the drive. Great atmosphere & kind staff though!
A wonderful steakhouse experience with quality dishes & warm atmosphere. The steak was well-prepared & the truffle fries were a flavourful treat, but the true standout was the cheesecake; rich, smooth, & easily the best part of the meal. Highly recommend!
Excellent souper. Nous avons pris le filet mignon & le steak NYork. En accompagnement les asperges & la pomme de terre au four gratinée. Les cuissons étaient parfaites. Les asperges un peu croquante comme il se doit. Mais la patate… un pur délice ! Servis en 20 min, tout était parfait sauf la musique d'ambiance, mais peut-être suis-je trop vieille !
Had a great experience at Sel Noir! Went here for dinner with a group of 12 guys to celebrate a bachelor party. The space is beautiful & gives perfect steakhouse vibes. The staff gave excellent recommendations to feed us all within our budget. We ended up getting a few Rib Eye surf & turf meals for the table as well as an assortment of appetizers. The steaks were huge & all the meat was all beautifully cooked. The bone marrow beef tartare & grilled octopus appetizers were also incredible.
The wine selection was extensive & we all left there feeling like we ate a meal fit for royalty. 10/10 would recommend as the food & service is awesome. Will absolutely be going back. Thank you to all the staff for the excellent meal & hospitality!
Great Steakhouse!!! My son said it was the best steak ever!! Friendly staff & fast service. Definitely a place to return to.
This steakhouse is really great, the meat is tender & juicy, & it's cooked just right.
The service is excellent too, which makes the whole experience even better.
We had a large group attend & from start to finish the experience was perfect. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, & very responsive! One of the best meals I have had in a very long time & I highly recommend for anyone looking for a top quality steak experience in MTL!
First time going to this steakhouse & probably my last. The wait time for the food is ridiculously long. Probably had like 20 cups of water just waiting for it. The appetizers took 30 mins & the main course took even longer. Wasn't a big fan of the food either.
J'ai commandé le ribeye, je n'ai jamais mangé un steak aussi bon. Je recommande a tous !!!
Great experience ! started with the burrata which was very tasty & the bread that comes with it was very fresh along with the sauce beneath it & the pistachios , & i had the ribeye steak ( medium well ) which was perfectly cooked with a side of mashed potatoes . All in all a great experience & great service from Gabriel . I will come back .
We had the pleasure of dining at Sel & Noir, & it was nothing short of incredible! We ordered the Chef's Plate, a delightful surf-&-turf creation featuring perfectly cooked steak, succulent lobster, & tiger shrimps. The plate was accompanied by loaded baked potatoe, & crispy Parmesan fries-all bursting with flavor & cooked to perfection. Compliments to the chef & the team!!
The Carpacio was another highlight-fresh, exquise, & dressed to perfection. As for the cocktails, they were absolutely delicious & expertly crafted, adding the perfect touch to our meal. Compliments to the bartenders!

We were excited to try Sel Noir but we were very disappointed.
Ordered the Tomahawk steak & by the time it arrived, it was cold & tasted bland! No sauce was offered & after we asked for some, it took 15 minutes to get it. We don't mind paying premium prices but we expect premium quality & service. This was not the place for that.
The staff was not particularly pleasant, leaving us ignored at the door while they were chatting away in front of us. The only one that stood out was the young man serving us water & asking how everything was. The shrimp was tasteless & also cold. The carrots & mushrooms were tasty but not the reason you go to a steakhouse.
The atmosphere was the saving grace. Nice ambiance & if the food & service was good would make a great place for special dates & occasions. There are much better options out there.
