Satu Lagi specializes in the vibrant flavors of Indonesian cuisine through a sophisticated tapas-style approach. The menu highlights bold spices, authentic aromatics, and traditional cooking techniques reimagined for sharing among small groups. Signature offerings often feature complex sambals paired with expertly seasoned protein dishes and fragrant rice preparations. Guests encounter a fusion of cultural traditions that emphasize texture and deep, layered seasoning profiles across every small plate. The environment prioritizes a focused culinary experience where each dish represents a specific regional influence from the Indonesian archipelago. This venue balances communal dining dynamics with a commitment to culinary precision and cultural authenticity. Every component on the plate serves a functional purpose, ensuring that the interplay between heat, acidity, and savory depth remains the primary focus for all patrons seeking genuine Southeast Asian gastronomy.
Satu Lagi consistently impresses guests with its vibrant, high-quality Indonesian and Malaysian fusion cuisine, frequently earning praise for its fully gluten-free menu and welcoming atmosphere. Diners often highlight the flavorful satay, fried oyster mushrooms, and pandan creme brulee as standout dishes that deliver an authentic and memorable gastronomic experience. While some patrons find the portions small or the pricing premium, many view the restaurant as a must-visit destination in Montreal, especially for those seeking creative, allergy-friendly options, professional service, and a beautiful, cozy setting perfect for special occasions.
Amazing! Very hard to find Indonesian & Malaysian food, & this place is a great offering of these cuisines. The fried mushrooms, the green beans, & the shrimp in the tomato sauce were highlights, but literally everything was outstanding. The chefs choice menu is a must. &, everything on the menu is gluten free, which if you are dining with someone with Celiac, like I was, is absolutely unbeatable, especially for Asian food, which often is not GF. Recommended fully!!
I took my Dutch, gluten-intolerant father here, & he loves Indonesian food. We all had a great time! The food is a mix of Indonesian & Malaysian. They have an awesome Chef's Choice tasting menu that I highly recommend, you get to try everything for a reasonable price. The food was SO tasty! Nice mix of spice levels on different dishes. Highly recommend!!!
I'm Indonesian born & arrived in Canada when I was 9 years old & I grew up with Indonesian food. This restaurant is by far better than any Indonesian restaurant in Toronto, where I reside. The chef was kind enough to make the outstanding fried fish - Ikan Goreng (a dinner menu) for lunch. We also had amazing fried chicken that was so crunchy. Gado Gado (veggies) with peanut sauce was so tasty. Nasi Lemak (Rice & Beef Rendang) was just like my mom's & so authentic. The chicken satay (skewers) were perfectly grilled. Great job chef! Terima Kasih (Thank you)!

Had a great dinner at Satu Lagi! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was cozy, & the service was excellent. A special thanks to Claudia, our waitress, who was so friendly, attentive, & made us feel very welcome throughout the evening. We'll definitely be back!
I really liked this restaurant. The food was tasty & the service was excellent. The only issue was that the portions were very small. I ordered three starters & rice & I still wasn't really full. The other issue was that it was extremely hot inside. I'm not sure if they don't have AC or they just weren't using it, but I was there during a heat wave & several of us were having to fan ourselves to stop sweating!
Visited Satu Lagi for lunch & had a great experience. We ordered the chicken satay BBQ & beef satay BBQ, both of which were delicious, especially with the rich coconut peanut sauce on the side. The Jamur Jamur (BBQ oyster mushrooms) was aberate ant its best & something I wouldn't order again.
I ordered the Chili Lemak & the Chili Maple Ayam Goreng. A heads-up: the chili sauce served alongside them is insanely spicy, so use it sparingly if you're sensitive to heat! The coconut rice was an excellent pairing with everything we ordered.
For drinks, we had the pandan mango beverage. It looked beautiful but was fairly average, as I couldn't taste much pandan nor mango. The Indonesian coffee was decent. The real surprise was the laksa-it was excellent & one of the highlights of the meal.
The restaurant has a great vibe, is spotless, & the service was top-notch throughout our visit. As far as I know, it's probably the only Indonesian restaurant in town, & it's definitely worth checking out if you're craving Indonesian flavors.
Absolutely delicious. We went for dinner & did the chef's tasting menu. Everything was fresh, interesting, tasty, & most importantly 100% gluten free. The cocktails were well balanced & yummy, we tried a few. The fried chicken was a standout as well as the creme brulee. We will definitely be back next time we are in the city. If you are gluten free you don't want to miss this spot.
Incredible service & food! It is a completely dedicated gluten-free restaurant, but the quality of the food was that of an exceptional regular restaurant. A must try spot for celiacs in Montreal!
