satay(49) recommend(48) indonesian(47) fried(45) gluten(44) cocktail(44) chicken(42) dishes(36) beef(34) flavour(33) sauce(32) rendang(31)We were happy to eat here, but I don't think we would be back again. Much of the food was good, but none of it was outstanding. The fried chicken in particular was way overly sweet - honey drenched - & the other dishes were good, but nothing wowed us except the lemon grass appetizer & the fried mushrooms. The service was perfectly good but impersonal. The atmosphere would have been good, but that they played 70s American rock ballads, & it just felt very incongruous in an Indonesian restaurant. Not being Indonesian ourselves, & not having an Indonesian server, it was hard to tell what was authentic & what was not.
Loved this place! Delicious, beautifully presented food, terrific service & lovely atmosphere. Perfect for a date or a night out with friends.
Whoever hired Leo, their new bartender, deserves a raise. He's a gem! I sat at the bar as a solo diner & got a front seat view of the artistry that Leo has going on behind the bar. The food was excellent, but the cocktails stole the show. Be sure to try the fresh watermelon however Leo is shaking it.
Such excellent food & service. Highly recommend! Every meal is delicious.
Nice restaurant, great service, but a bit pricey. creative takes on Indonesian cuisine - I liked the idea of serving sambal as an appetizer. However, coming from the Netherlands where Indonesian food is common, I found the main dishes rather'underwhelming':
The Rendang lacked its usual bold flavors & tasted like a mild beef stew with coconut/peanut. The Marinated Beans were tasty but undercooked & rather pricey. Still worth the visit though…
Special note : their online reservation system asked if it was a'special occasion' - it was my anniversary - but there was no follow-up at the restaurant. Better to skip the question if it doesn't lead to anything...?
As someone who is Gluten-Free & Lactose-Free, finding this restaurant felt like winning the lottery. The atmosphere was absolutely stunning & we were immediately greeted by the kind, friendly & knowledgeable staff. Our server gave us excellent recommendations & as the food arrived to our table, every dish was better than the last. To eat as much as we did & feel so amazing after goes to show how good quality the food & chefs are. The attention to detail did not go unnoticed & we will 100% be coming back. Thank you to the incredible team at Satu Lagi. We will be telling everyone we know about this incredible spot!!
