The Restaurant de l'ITHQ on rue Saint-Denis is open year round, morning, noon and evening. Through its refined cuisine, prepared with the freshest Québec products, the Restaurant de l'ITHQ is a testament to the quality of the culinary training provided at the leading hotel school that is the ITHQ. The service staff's know-how, particularly in terms of food and wine pairing, further enhances the patron experience. Its peaceful and cosy ambience, bathed in natural light, is heightened by a splendid view of Square Saint-Louis, which is located right in front. During the week, the kitchen and dining room welcome ITHQ students who are nearing completion of their program and, under the vigilant eye of their professors, are putting into practice what they learned in class.
Reviews of Restaurant de l'ITHQ emphasize a refined yet welcoming atmosphere where student servers, guided by professional staff, deliver attentive, thoughtful service and clear explanations of courses and wine pairings; the cuisine is praised for creativity, seasonal local ingredients, beautiful presentations, and the option of tasting menus with wine pairings that many describe as memorable, along with a strong focus on showcasing Quebec products. While a few notes mention occasional pacing issues, small portions or dishes that are too salty, and some variability in value for price, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive and many say they will return, often combining the meal with a stay at the adjacent hotel.
The atmosphere may have been sparse because of the heavy rain but the restaurant was pretty empty. The service was excellent, attentive & friendly with explanations from the young staff. The food was good & you have to bear in mind that for this type of dining the good price was good. We found the offering a bit « bread heavy ». Sourdough with the first delicate taster & bread on the starter as well as croutons on the main but this might be a Canadian thing. Very glad we went.
Very nice atmosphere, service, & well thought out menu. This is an elegant & relaxing place to dine. Very nice to have an amuse bouche before dinner. The service was attentive, the plates beautifully presented, the service was also professional & discreet. The music selection was sedate & appreciated. The music did not overwhelm the atmosphere nor muffle conversation. Appreciated table linen & comfortable chairs. A nice place to celebrate life milestones.
The cocktail tasted like cranberry juice.
Wine & cheese were amazing.
Appetizers (mushroom cavatelli & tomatoes) were fantastic as well as the tomato gazpacho with shrimp & bread.
The entrees were severely disappointing! Halibut was nice quality but the dish in general was nothing I would brag about. The guinea fowl was not desirable & we left half of the dish.
Dessert was forgettable.
Such a shame to spend $ for disappointment.
All presentations were excellent.
Service was absolutely perfect.

Food average - scallops cooked right, great temperature, golden crust colour but not the taste not crispy crust with the sear; turbot side cauliflower reduction & cauliflower couscous?!
Service below par, zero explanation on the dishes when they were bought to table (almost no service except when 1st seated, felt like fast food after tbh. I've been tipping 20%+ in my 3 days in montreal even at schwartz, but here, tho i did 15% but 10% should have been it with the service they have provided);
Menu/bill with wrong price (tho corrected at the end, but sorry, this mistake at this level of restaurant is unacceptable)
To give you an example on food,'cauliflower couscous' with turbot with cauliflower garlic mousse, taste good separately, but should be 2 diff components on a dish at this level of restaurant. This simply shows you the executive chef or whoever designing the menu is not qualified to be at this level of restaurant especially this is part of the hospitality school 🤷🏻?♀?. Also that they don't expect the Cauliflower is good so had to add the reduction of the same on the side to enhance the flavour further? Lol
Portions are small, I moved on to another Michelin selected restaurant to eat more to be full.
All full timers the day I visited. Best of luck to students learning anything from this crew.
