I don't think of myself as a foodie - I have a lot of food restrictions (gluten & dairy free :( ) so it's a tough thing to participate in but I had family in town who really wanted to go here. I am always hyper aware of what a pain it is to accommodate food restrictions (I'm so sorry :( ) so I had written in advance to ask about the menu. The response couldn't have been more gracious & the server went out of their way to ask a lot of questions. So for the allergy & intolerance buds, this place is a win. Someone was getting trained in the kitchen while we were there & it was comforting to see the amount of patience being demonstrated towards them. Open kitchens put extra pressure on people but everyone seemed to be communicating kindly. (One of many ways that Beba comes off as progressive & fresh - it's hard to imagine one of these chefs having an old school meltdown) They made service look effortless even though it surely isn't considering the care put into the food. The cocktails were perfect. They seemed to be mostly *slight* twists on classics. No smoke bubble bullshit just like a hint of lavender. The (modified) food I had was great & I can only assume that in it's intended dairy & gluten having form it's even better. I have to say I didn't feel quite cool enough to be there but that was entirely on me. It's beautiful inside - from the tableware to the customers - & outside where there's an adorable little patio area). My thought leaving this restaurant was that the staff deserve to be proud of themselves & of their workplace. There aren't a lot of restaurants able to convey this level of grace & elegance. Thank you for all your hard work.
Sophisticated atmosphere w coziness that makes you feel like you are at your local jaunt. We sat at the bar & Antoine provided terrific insight & direction into our dining experience. We started w the knish, the caviar is superb! Followed by the involtini, pasta special & guinea fowl wings...all delicious...& accompanied by great 🍸cocktails...c'est Magnifique!
Not sure food is the star here given extensive wine & cocktail menu. While small & Cozy, feels more like a bar than restaurant. Food ingredients were top notch, but presentation was "flat". Service, while efficient, lacked warmth & a certain degree of class given the prices.
Food was delicious & of high quality. Stands on its own alongside other greats in Montreal (like Vin Mon lapin for example, which we had just visited the night before Beba). We had tartare, mushrooms, ragu, & asparagus. Cocktails to start & a beautiful bottle of wine. Our server was sensational. A father who apparently lives down the street, he was kind, very engaging, providing all the rich detail tailored to the guests level of interest. The location & clean/crisp but warm/cozy interior makes it feel like a neighbourhood gem rather than a well trodden (or tired) institution. We had exactly the kind of fantastic dining experience that keeps us coming back to Montreal. Well done Beba!
Michelin Stars will be calling out its name - Beba - oooooommmmmmgggg- I had to write this as soon as I came home !!! At tonight's dinner the 4 of us are very very seasoned foodies & we all agreed that this dinner was absolutely more than outstanding -Each & every dish was exquisitely prepared with the very finest & freshest of ingredients - From the duck confit on a bed of fresh tagliatelle to the grilled octopus to the chocolate valhrona tart topped with roasted hazel nuts - it was all sublime - The cocktails were refreshingly delicious - All of the above was complimented with very warm, attentive & impeccable service - Camille explained everything on the menu & Evan definitely mixed love into our drinks - they took great care of us - every detail was addressed seamlessly . You feel & see a very cohesive team impassioned with their work from the chefs to the serving staff . I will joyfully & unhesitatingly recommend this to friends & families as will our friends that joined us this evening ❤️
We had a wonderful dinner here on the patio! The food was great but the service was even better. Evan did a wonderful job & was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. He was super kind & made us feel relaxed & comfortable. The cocktails were also excellent! I am gluten free & they were also very accommodating for this. Overall it was a great night & I highly recommend!
Finally had a chance to try Beba, I really wanted to like this place the atmosphere & especially service is top notch wow! Cocktails & especially the desserts were also top notch unfortunately the rest of the food was good but not great. I know they vary the menu throughout the year so very possible we got unlucky on the dishes given the rave reviews from others. Great experience overall though would go back to give another chance for sure!
Finally. A good "fancy" restaurant where the portions were good for the price. You get exactly what your order with no frills. Just good quality ingredients. Cocktails were on par with high end cocktails bars but at a more reasonable price. Seasonal menu makes me excited to come back!
We visited Montreal for a long weekend & this was to be our "big dinner" out. We were please to get reservation for a Sunday evening. The staff was quick to get us seated. The staff was very pleasant & it was great to see the chef working closely with the others, providing feedback & plating. The menu was thoroughly & expertly explained. We ended up getting the empanada, mackerel, radicchio salad, & fluke. I had the fallback cocktail which was very nice. My wife ordered the vermouth & olives as it reminded us of a trip to Barcelona. That was fantastic & we ended up ordering another round of these. The empanada was okay, but that was it. I've easily had better at farm markets & home. We must have missed where it said the mackerel was "lightly cured". My wife is not a fan of uncooked food but she choked down what she could. It thought it was okay. It was slightly fishy but well prepared & the sesame bun on which it sat was good. The radicchio salad was excellent & was possibly the best dish of the evening. The dressing was perfect in taste & coverage. The hostess suggested a smaller version of this salad based on what we ordered which was ample & much appreciated. The fluke was also excellent & I would definitely recommend it. The whelks, clams & fish were delicious, as was the pasta it was with. Service was spotty. The empanada came out pretty fast. The mackerel followed shortly after. We then waited for probably 30 minutes. Our salad sat on the counter for almost half of that, & was then served at the same time as the fluke. When we ordered our second round of drinks the bartender was nowhere to be seen. It took 20+ minutes to get two vermouth & olives. We were quite full at the end of meal & skipped dessert. We were just over 2 hours & $160 into the meal & honestly just wanted to get going. We were not rushed in way. Communication would have been ideal during the waits. Overall we weren't that impressed & left a little disappointed given the time & money spent. We're still glad we went but would most definitely find something else on our next visit.

Amazing service, cocktails, wine & service. My wife with dietary allergies was easily accommodated. Heavily recommended.

Magnifique soirée, belle ambiance, bons cocktails, délicieux plats à partager, bons vins, super service d'Antoine... À refaire certainement!

I have nothing negative to say about my experience last night. From the moment we walked in to the moment we stepped out, the service & overall culinary experience was unparalleled. We ordered the Guinea fowl liver tagliatelle, the mackerel, the homemade coppa & the rabbit. Their seasonal menu is not for those with close-minded palates. The combination of flavours was incredible & we were treated like royalty. The cocktails were also made to perfection. Would highly recommend for those who are looking for a funky & delicious meal!
Beba in Montreal is intriguing! The vibrant atmosphere with a focus on cocktails & evolving menu items reflects the establishment's commitment to providing a unique culinary experience. The diverse fusion of Italian & Spanish influences in the dishes, such as the changing daily fillings of empanadas & the creative knish with potato & caviar, the potato is so good. The guinfowl dish, with crispy skin, mashed potatoes, & mushrooms, have left a particularly positive impression.
Cute decor, loved the 80s music. Stellar service. Explained all the menu items & water was always full. Checked in regularly. Mushroom, sunchoke, & olives were a nice appetizer, especially the high quality olives, but not really much for presentation or portion of mushrooms. Like it was literally just poured on the plate. Pork steak with gnocco & rapini was perfect. Pasta & beef roast was delicious but not much for presentation. Chocolate torte had plenty of hazelnuts & olive oil which made it crunchy & smooth. Tea for One, Italian Buck, & another cocktail were well crafted.
Staff are attentive without being overbearing. The atmosphere is somehow welcoming, casual & sophisticated at the same time, not pretentious at all. Food is amazing!! I've been a few times & each time I've said "this might be the best.. pork... brisket... tagliatelle ... I've ever had in my life." The cocktails are delicious & well balanced + good wines, beers & other spirits by the glass (great selections of digestifs). Definitely $$$ but well worth the money for the impeccable service & food. It is definitely a first choice for me for special occasions!
I recently dined at Restaurant Beba & had a mixed experience. The food was pretty good with decent flavors & presentation, but I felt it was a bit too expensive for what it offered. On a positive note, the service was nice - the staff were attentive & friendly. However, there were moments when the staff engaged in conversation a bit too much, which some diners might find excessive. I didn't try the drinks myself, but my friends who did were quite impressed. They mentioned that the drinks were one of the highlights of their evening. So, if you're into cocktails or specialty beverages, this might be a great place for you. Overall, the staff were friendly & the atmosphere was welcoming. While I appreciated the quality of the food, I believe it could be priced more appropriately. Would recommend for a nice evening out, especially if you're keen on trying some unique drinks.
Bravo! Everything was absolutely perfect, went for my birthday. The food was phenomenal – fresh, local, decadent & refined with happy little surprises along the way – great wine selection & cocktails, stellar service (shoutout to Evan especially), & a playlist whose mild & pleasant dissonance with the fine dining digs are the perfect final touch to create its charming, warm & laid back ambiance. An absolute must-go, not to be missed!
Absolument ! Surtout qu'ils change régulièrement leur carte.
Absolutely incredible meal at the bar! Great cocktails, unique wine list, & of course, the memorable food. The empanadas & knish were great, but the lamb ribs stole the show. Would return next time I’m in Montréal!
Was not sure what to expect from Beba, but had an amazing time.
It is tapas style, where it is recommended to share all the plates, though they do have larger plates that you could order as a main.
We had empanadas, chicken wing terrine, steak ham, salad, japanese white fish, homemade pasta & trout (for 4 peoole). Everything we ate was delicious, I would say the chicken wing terrine was the least impressive, it tasted more like a chicken/mushroom soup terrine, but was still very much delicious. The empanadas were very good, especially the aoli it was served with.
They have an extensive wine list, though we had cocktails. They were all delicious, especially the mocktail.
Our server Evan was delightful, ensuring we didn't order too much or too little & that all plates were brought out in a tasty order.
A great experience & I would definitely go back.
