We got the chefs menu. The food was exceptional. Caviar knish, montadito with mackeral, & dates were standouts. You cant go wrong with their dishes. We liked it over Joe Fish which was also really good but the food at Beba is certainly more creative. Staff were excetional, attentive with our every need. Never had an empty glass. Only suggestion is to turn up the AC on a warm summer night as it got warm during the dinner service.
Had pretty high expectations for this restaurant & the service was excellent. The server explained every dish to us & we were seated by the open kitchen.
The Montadito was delicious, it comes with 2 per order & had a great balance of flavour. The textures worked very well together & the mackerel was delicious.
The Involtini was interesting & pretty good, there was a lot of flavour & was unique.
We had the bone marrow next which was amazing, especially when you get a bite with the anchovy with everything else - it was an explosion of flavour.
The rabbit was… ok. I usually love rabbit but while the texture was good & not dry, there wasn't much flavour even when I tried to have it with the pancetta & peas. I saw similar reviews about the pork.
If I return, I'd probably order more of the other dishes than focus on the main.
I have been hearing a lot about this place lately so I finally made a reservation to see what the hype was all about. It did not disappoint at all. The menu is creative & the ingredients clearly tasted fresh. I was particularly impressed with how the staff handled the busy rush during peak hours. You can tell they put a lot of care into the presentation of the dishes. A great addition to the local dining scene that I plan on visiting again very soon.
Gabrielle & the rest of the staff did an incredible job. The food was just amazing. Those pork dishes were out of this world. & the price was very reasonable for a restaurant of this level. In short, do not miss an amazing culinary experience.
Delicious food & amazing service. Reservations highly recommended as they are extremely busy & popular.
The Montadito was probably my favourite dish & the cocktail was absolutely amazing (vermouth & olives). My server/bartender was on top of everything despite how busy he was. The rest of the staff are also extremely attentive, clearing plates immediately, refilling water, wiping down the table, etc.
It was only me at the bar & I was given the option to have half portions while also having more room to try other dishes. I decided to order everything full size, no regrets, but for my next visit I'll definitely take that route. There were so many other dishes I wanted to try after watching the other guests eat!
Overall I highly recommend this restaurant. If you are in Montreal this is a must try. I will definitely be back!!
The food was good but a bit too spicy 🥵 for my taste & they unfortunately don't mention it. For the first time in my life I was shocked how spicy 🔥 two different pasta 🍝 dishes can be. Besides that the food was actually very good. I would of really appreciated a warning ⚠? in the menu or from the staff about the heat level. Otherwise the service was great & the over all vibe was ok.
In this category of elevated comfort food, Beba is the place of excellence to visit. Phenomenal dishes, impeccable service. I went 2 nights in a row. The 3rd visit a few months later didn't disappoint. So did the 4th, the 5th visits. Each & every time, I tried new dishes with unique flavours that just hit right.
I liked that the staff were welcoming & I could try various dishes without having to pay for the full size by getting smaller portions. The foods were prepared & served to bring the most out of each ingredient's characteristics & flavors. I liked the cozy neighborhood-spot vibe but it could be bad for a big group. Will visit again.
Every single dish I tried was delicious. I really appreciate that they offer portion options for solo diners & it made it so much easier for me to be able to try a wider variety of dishes.
One thing that truly surprised me was the appetizer with dates & foie gras. I'm usually not a fan of foie gras, but since it was so highly recommended, I decided to give it a try-& it's definitely the one that suits my taste the most.
The steak & the clam & beans dish i had that day were also excellent. I'd love to come back & try their new menu!
