It did not disappoint at all. The menu is creative & the ingredients clearly tasted fresh. I was particularly impressed with how the staff handled the busy rush during peak hours. You can tell they put a lot of care into the presentation of the dishes. A great addition to the local dining scene that I plan on visiting again very soon.
Just got back from Beba, where we had a wonderful meal.
We ordered a la carte, we enjoyed every dish, but our favorites were the fresh pasta with porcini & the guanciale cotto.
Flavours are bold, execution is spot on, & I found the cuisine to be very generous. I'm not referring to the portion size (it was perfectly adequate), but rather in their use of premium ingredients.
Pistachio? Tons of them. Morels? Here's a few handfuls. Great tuna? Covers half the plate. I've rarely seen such a generous use of quality premium ingredients. If an ingredient is mentioned on the menu, don't worry, you'll find it in your plate.
Also, the desserts. Wow. We had the flan & the pistachio semifreddo. Both were great, but the semifreddo was absolutely amazing, perfectly balanced & light.
On the negative, the wine list is a bit underwhelming (but cocktais are good), & I found the red wine to be served too warm, should have been served 3-4° colder.
Will definitely come back.
Beba- Michelin level on its day. A small, but intimate space, & compact kitchen means that inconsistencies arise day by day. However, to me, that makes the experience more exciting, knowing I am having a unique meal rather than one that has been practiced thousands of times.
The food was terrific, with a focus on local ingredients. The Mackerel, was a standout smaller dish & was a unique fusion between Eastern sushi & western flavors & techniques. We also had a confit beef cheek with morel mushrooms that was the best bite I have had this year.
Drinks were unique & exciting, & the server did not push us to order alcohol, which I feel often happens at too many smaller/more expensive meals.
While you should expect to spend $100+, I felt that the priority of highlighting fresh local ingredients was worth it, & felt that Beba never skimped out on the expensive ingredients in a dish (peep how many morel mushrooms we got!).
Excellent food & seasoning. Mackerel is one of my favorite entrees, fatty, creamy & hint of horseradish balances everything. Octopus is perfectly cooked & full of umami flavor. Beef cheeky & mochella are the best combo, red wine sauce blends all ingredients together. Flan is out of the world, smooth, rich, flavor explodes in you mouth with each bite. Cute & nice staffs, amazing services. Definitely worth visiting if you are looking for a nice fine dining experience.
We had a fabulous experience at Beba, the food & staff were exceptional. The fresh ingredients were served in unique & creative ways. The wine list was excellent. The staff truly made us feel appreciated & welcomed. We loved every minute!!
I liked that the staff were welcoming & I could try various dishes without having to pay for the full size by getting smaller portions. The foods were prepared & served to bring the most out of each ingredient's characteristics & flavors. I liked the cozy neighborhood-spot vibe but it could be bad for a big group. Will visit again.
Very impressed with everything from the quality of the ingredients to the execution of the dishes & an amazing service. Highly recommend asking for the tasting menu if you are a first time visitor.
Quite easily the best meal I had during my stay in Montreal! Restaurant Beba was ranked the 7th best restaurant in Canada & the 50th best in North America in 2025 & for good reason. The service throughout the entire night was phenomenal-every worker was so friendly & knowledgeable about each dish. In a way, dining at Beba felt like eating in someone's home with the way we were treated so kindly & enthusiastically. Definitely make a reservation as the interior is very small; we had a lovely time at the bar.
Their menu is incredibly inventive, mainly taking inspiration from the Italian & Spanish culinary traditions established in Argentina. Most of their dishes rotate depending on seasonal ingredients, but they always have their signature starters. They recommended trying four to five dishes for two, which was the perfect amount of food. We started with a duck special for an appetizer. The slices of meat were insanely tender & went so well over the fresh cabbage & dressing. Next, we had the beef tongue, which they were able to slightly alter to accommodate for my tree nut allergy. Once again, the meat was so juicy & flavorful. We really enjoyed the blood sausage & rapini it came with as well. The brown butter sauce reminded us of movie theater popcorn in the best possible way. Our third dish was the pappardelle. It was cooked al dente with just the right amount of firmness & bite & tossed in the creamiest cheese sauce with duck ragu. The overall dish was meaty & hearty while not feeling too heavy or greasy. For the largest shared plate, we opted for the Guinea fowl. The skin was wonderfully crispy while the meat remained juicy & savory. The oyster mushrooms & sunchokes were great complements that cut through the meatiness, & every ingredient tasted magnificent when slathered in the herbaceous salsa verde. We finished our meal with the flan-one of the best I have ever had without a doubt. The custard base was so bouncy, rich, & creamy. It was topped with the most delicate whipped cream that wasn't overly sweet & the best dulce de leche I have tasted in my life. The thick caramel's nuttiness & richness made me speechless. I could eat hundreds of these flans without ever getting tired of the dessert.
Restaurant Beba delivered us a perfect experience. Each dish was brought to us at a good pace, allowing us to enjoy every bite with no rush. The amazing service, atmosphere, &, of course, food has guaranteed that I will return the next time I'm visiting Montreal. If you want a meal you will never forget, Beba is the place to go!
I enjoyed the appetizer, especially the mackerel that everyone talks about. The blend of different ingredients meshed together very well, & they were fresh & you can tell each ingredients are carefully picked. Main course is somewhat less interesting.
One thing is though, I called specifically to ask for a spot away from the bathroom & they put us right in front of the staff bathroom with a lot of traffic & I had look at the toilet over 10 times during our meal which was very unappetizing.
Beaucoup de saveurs mais peu de subtilité car la sauce, trop abondante, éclipse la texture & le goût des ingrédients principaux.
Environnement bruyant. Service impeccable . La présentation des plats sans originalité Finalement trop cher. .
