Review Summary

Reviews describe Pubjelly as a vibrant, high energy dining spot with a warm atmosphere and a focus on sharing plates and standout service. Diners frequently praise the food as excellent or phenomenal, with favorites including seafood options like lobster croquettes, grilled octopus, and beef tartare, along with crafted cocktails and strong wines. The service is repeatedly described as attentive, coordinated, and genuinely friendly, creating a welcoming environment even on busy nights or for groups and families. The vibe mixes energy with romance and an unpretentious, world class level of hospitality. Some notes mention occasional price concerns and variable value, occasional delays or long waits during peak times, and a few dishes that did not meet expectations such as overcooked potatoes or a less successful pizza, yet highlights and menu versatility keep guests returning. Locations described as lively and picturesque in the Old Port, with reservations recommended for the terrace on warm days. A recurring theme is the effort and teamwork of staff across the floor, kitchen, and bar, delivering a consistently positive experience and a reason to return for both new and repeat visits.

I had ordered their steak tartare, fried cauliflower & a negroni. The steak tartare is a large portion, was super fresh & perfectly balanced. Unfortunately there is no crostini ots however I had eaten it with the fried cauliflower I'd ordered. The cauliflower itself lacked salt & seasoning, however, the green onion tapenade made up for it, wish there would be more. The honey was a good addition. Negroni was a negroni, can't complain. Service was quite cold I'll be honest, usually when I visit MTL it's always a wonderful welcoming city however on every occasion I've gone to pubjelly, I'm met with cold service. A bit on the pricey side.

In 2024, I had my first dinner at Pubjelly & tried their mtl a table menu. I enjoyed it a lot. Don't know why it took me so long to go back but glad I suggested to meet my girlfriends here tonight, because food was great! Cauliflower & scallops were my favorite 🩵

Started off with the beef tartare & tempura cauliflower & house focaccia. It was the star of the night. The portion was generous enough to share.

Had dirty martini it was good. The staff were on point & really nice.

Had been hyped up on this place for a while, so decided to try it on a weeknight. Rather crowded for a random Wednesday. Had a dinner DJ, as places do, but pleasant tunes & was an appropriate volume. Service was okay. Had to wait 10-15 minutes just to order drinks & another 10-15 to get them. I tend not to rate on service unless it's egregiously bad, & overall was fine here, but was a bit slow for a place marketing itself on quality. Food, on the other hand, was overall not impressive. Split a few apps, one of which had some sort of chickpea cake which, to their credit, was one of the best things I've eaten in a while. Partner had a meat dish as a main & I tried the pizza. Some of the flavor combos were interesting (cauliflower on pizza?), but the techniques & the refinement weren't there for a place of this price range. It tasted like if a dive-y pub tried to serve tasting plates...guess that explains the "pub" in the name? Overall, I can imagine it being okay for a mid-day vin & snack if you're a hardworking businessman in the area, but don't go out of your way.

Perfection. The venue is gorgeous, the service is friendly & polished, & the food is amazing (the best we've had during our month touring North America). The best part for us was that our foody children were able to enjoy the experience as much as their parents. They loved the zucchini, cauliflower, & beef tartare - & being able to have a trusty pizza too.

Really nice experience there. The waitress recommended us a few dishes & explained to us how it usually goes at Pubjelly & she had a nice attitude. We got around 6 plates & were pretty much full by the end. The drink looked small for the price but it packed quite some punch which is good for the price (40$~ for the cocktail pitcher) The food was superb. Loved the fried cauliflower, a recommendation that the waitress gave us. The pizza at the end was good & is definitely enough to fill one person alone even with half of it. Overall, i recommend this place & would definitely go again.

We very much enjoyed our second destination meal in Montréal at Pubjelly. As it was our last night, we splurged to share a bottle of wine & enjoyed our shared dinner of PEI Oysters, Quebec Snow Crabs, Cauliflower Tempura & Shrimp Focaccia. They call the latter pizza & it was probably our least favorite dish. Service was great as was the vibe. It did seem expensive, but we were still adapting to big city prices!
