Opened in 1971 by Giuseppe Lenti, Piazza Romana was originally a very small restaurant. It had seating for only 32 people and was run by Giuseppe Lenti, who was later joined by his brother-in-law, Sestino Odari. In 1988 Sestino's wife, Maria, took over the reins. In less than five years, Piazza Romana has the best restaurant for fine Italian cuisine. In fact, The Gazette's Helen Rochester ranked it among the top 20 restaurants. While Piazza Romana is no longer a little country restaurant, the Odoardi family continues to offer the warm ambiance so typical of the traditional Italian manner.

If you're looking for classic Italian dishes, this is the place to eat in the West Island. All the dishes we tried were simple, yet delicious. They are all made with fresh, quality ingredients & the portions are quite generous. Located in the charming Pointe-Claire Village, the restaurant has a cozy vibe & the staff are very welcoming. It's a great place for a family dinner or dinner with friends. It's also a good place to pop into on a weeknight after spending time shopping in the area.

We've been going to this neighborhood spot in the middle of Pointe-Claire village for about 30 years. While it's expanded considerably the quality of the food has remained fairly consistent. Our group of 11 was seated at the table that was already set for us. Oddly, a couple of spots were missing parts of their place settings (forks, napkins, glasses). The service wasn't particularly friendly, & was extremely slow. It took about 35 minutes between when we arrived & when menus were distributed, & we had been seated for almost exactly an hour before they started taking our orders. One server told us that we could still order from the lunch menu (until 16:00), but another told us that was no longer possible (at 15:36). It took another 45 minutes for our meals to arrive. The food was quite tasty, but there was a gap of about 10 minutes between the arrival of the first dishes & the last - so several of us had cold dishes. Overall good, but definitely not as great as it used to be.

Hadn't been at Pizza Romana in years. The place has changed to become a fantastic Italian restaurant that serves more than just Pizza. We had Pizza for sentimental reasons & the quality of the past was equally present in the now.

We were a party of ten, having travelled into town from Ottawa, Toronto, Kingston & Hudson. We had previously made a prior reservation for 12.30 pm We arrived at Piazza Romana on time to find that our table had not even been set up. Moreover, there was only one waiter on duty &, apparently one chef in the kitchen. No sign of a manager, who was only due to show up at 4 pm. Our order was eventually taken at 1.45 pm. a full hour & fifteen minutes after our arrival. We had repeatedly tried to get the attention of the sole waiter since one of our party had to leave to attend a funeral at 2.15. Eventually meals began to arrive at 2 pm.

We were unable to fault the quality of the food when it finally did arrive, but to have just two staff in attendance at lunchtime on a Friday speaks of sheer incompetence &, as far as we were concerned, was totally unacceptable.

Although we have dined at Piazza Romano in the past & been happy with the experience, you can be sure that we shall be reluctant to recommend your establishment in the future.
