Petit Poisson Dumpling is widely celebrated as a top-tier destination for authentic, handcrafted Chinese dumplings in a cozy and artistically designed atmosphere. Diners consistently praise the freshness and high quality of the food, noting that the xiao long bao and fried dumplings are exceptionally juicy and flavorful. The restaurant offers a welcoming, rhythmic environment where guests enjoy watching the skilled kitchen team prepare dishes by hand in an open-concept setting. While the space is intimate and can become busy, the combination of creative decor, warm hospitality, and standout dishes like the cold peanut noodles and savory soup dumplings makes it a beloved neighborhood gem that keeps people coming back for more.
If i could give this a higher rating, I would! This was my wife & my first meal after flying in from Saskatchewan & it did not disappoint. The soup dumplings are rolled fresh (in front of you if its busy) & everything is of very high quality. Their setup to steam the dumplings looks like it uses some kind of custom waterfall steaming setup as well. Everything here was so good we had to buy a shirt! Whether you're having soup dumplings for the first time or the 100th time, petit poisson is worth a visit!
I've become a regular here because I simply can't get enough of their unique decor & charming Chinese vibes. The restaurant has a wonderful'soul' to it that feels very authentic & nostalgic, yet fresh & modern at the same time. While everyone talks about the dumplings, I have to give a special shout-out to the cold noodles with peanut sauce. The sauce is rich, creamy, & perfectly seasoned-it's my'satisfaction guaranteed' dish every time I visit. The flavor takes me back to traditional street food but with a much higher quality of ingredients. The service is also incredibly attentive & personal; the staff remembers returning customers & always ensures you have everything you need with a warm smile. It's the combination of consistent food quality, friendly faces, & a beautiful, rhythmic environment that keeps me coming back week after week. It's a true neighborhood gem that never fails to deliver a satisfying meal & a pleasant experience.
This is officially my new xiao long bao sanctuary in Montreal! Finding authentic, handcrafted dumplings can be a challenge, but this place nails the traditional flavors perfectly. Both the soup dumplings & the pan-fried ones taste just like what you'd find in a high-end shop in Asia-perfectly balanced, fresh, & incredibly juicy. The decor style is particularly impressive, successfully merging traditional Chinese elements with a sleek, modern aesthetic that feels very high-end. It has a certain'class' or'??' (style) without being pretentious. It's the kind of place that feels high-energy yet intimate at the same time. Whether you are a connoisseur of Chinese cuisine or a newcomer to the world of dim sum, the authenticity of the food combined with the stylish atmosphere makes this a top-tier destination. It's rare to find a place that balances food quality, traditional craftsmanship, & modern interior vibes so perfectly. This has quickly become my go-to recommendation for anyone visiting the city who wants a'real' taste of Chinese small bites

On my very first trip to Montreal, I stumbled upon this absolute treasure of a restaurant, & it was easily the highlight of my culinary journey here. We decided to try the pork & chive xiao long bao along with the beef & onion fried dumplings, & both were spectacular. The dumplings were incredibly fresh, & the beef filling in the fried version was seasoned to perfection-juicy on the inside with a satisfying, golden crunch on the outside. What really sets this place apart, though, is the unique decor. Every corner of the restaurant has been thoughtfully designed with a blend of artistic flair & cultural nods, making the entire space feel very'Instagrammable.' If you enjoy taking photos of your dining aesthetic or just appreciate a beautiful environment, you will love it here. To top it off, the service was exceptionally warm, enthusiastic, & welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. It's a must-visit spot for anyone looking for great vibes & even better food in Montreal
Everything is freshly prepared to order, & every dish we tried was absolutely delicious. I had the shrimp with coriander, while my husband ordered the fried lamb, & both were outstanding. The flavors were fresh, well-balanced, & beautifully prepared. We truly enjoyed our meal & would happily come back!
Really enjoyed eating here. The dumplings were made perfectly, & every bite tasted fresh. Good prices, fast service, & I'll definitely be back for more !
We are looking for a place to eat after being on the plane for more than 10 hours, & this place definitely hit the spot! Even from Chinese standards, I will say the taste is pretty authentic & definitely high quality. You can taste the freshness since all dumplings are made freshly on the site. We especially like their lamb dumplings & cold dishes. The staff are also very friendly!
On a recent trip to Montréal, I had the pleasure of discovering this dumpling restaurant, & I will certainly be returning on my next visit.
The soup dumplings were among the best I have ever had-perhaps even the best. The wonton noodle soup was also top-notch: rich & flavourful without being overly salty. The dumplings were clearly made fresh, & everything we ordered was excellent.
Fun ambience.
I highly recommend this place. I suspect it can become quite busy during peak periods, but I arrived shortly after opening & the food was already outstanding. There was none of that sense that a kitchen was still finding its rhythm at the start of service; everything felt polished & consistent from the moment the doors opened.
A memorable meal & one that I look forward to repeating. I will definitely be back.
