A little disappointed with my experience here, I am very familiar with Haitian food
& whoever made the riz djon djon was definitely not Haitian. It did not even have that' Haitian djon djon taste at all. & the rice was a little too black.
The goat was OK,
SECONDLY , what they called'jerk chicken' was really not that, what they served was fried chicken with a sauce on the side, which they called jerk & it was nothing like jerk sauce to be honest the sauce was terrible & I'm usually not picky with sauces. So basically the Haitian rice is not really Haitian rice. The jerk chicken is not jerk chicken so it seems like nothing is authentic in this restaurant. I'm curious to know where the chef is from. The fried chicken was tasty, but they should not call it'jerk chicken.'
This is false advertisement & misleading.
The jerk chicken was possibly the best I've ever had. Soup was also phenomenal.
I was so excited to try this place but the excitement was short lived . I pay 25$ with taxes for an oxtail plate , I got exactly 4 pieces 1 of which was all fat . The flavour lacking . The jerk chicken was just chicken put on the grill. The staff wasn't helpful nor pleasant . I really wanted to like it but I was very disappointed.
Fabulous place for Caribbean & Haitian cuisine. Located in the bustling Time Out Market, it's a popular choice. We had our favorites, jerk chicken & rum oxtail. Both were huge portions, with delicious peas & rice & crispy plantains. The ultimate was meeting & being served by the Chef himself, Chef Paul Toussaint. His kind hospitality & generous juice offering will be remembered. Amazing experience, great food, fun ambience in downtown Montreal.
BLAND. Got the jerk chicken & the rice was bland, can barely taste any spice. The plantain was neither sweet nor savory - it just tasted like starch. The chicken was cooked right but tasted just okay. The papaya salad packed a punch in terms of sourness & saltiness but that wasn't enough to save the plate.
I really liked the jerk burger & the plantain fries ! The grill of the chicken was mouth watering
I ordered the chicken sandwich, I was served a sandwich with very dry buns that were falling apart & the side of the sandwich was burnt :c
This place is amazing! I had the oxtail, & my friend had the jerk chicken, & we were both in genuine awe at how amazing the food was! The meat from my ox tail was sooo soft it literally peels off the bone & melts in your mouth! & the rice alone i could simply eat all day! Plus, for food this good, its so affordable! Amazing.
