Review Summary

Pâtisserie Alex Platel draws widespread praise for fresh, flavorful pastries made with evident passion, with éclairs, croissants, mille feuille, and pain au chocolat among the highlights, and the tarts, pies, and chaussons described as delicious and beautifully crafted. The bakery is seen as a true French artisanal shop, offering buttery laminated doughs, rich desserts, and an overall sense of craftsmanship that stands out in Montreal. Croissants are repeatedly called among the best, the chocolatine a must try, and the desserts generally described as addictive. Quiches are often noted as excellent, and the pastries and viennoiseries consistently praised. Service is frequently described as friendly and attentive, though some reviewers note inconsistent experiences; there is no seating inside, making it ideal for takeout or a stroll nearby. A few comments mention rising prices and a perceived dip in quality or portions in recent years, and others reference changes in name or direction. Overall, it is regarded as an exceptional bakery with a strong range of items, from classic staples to specialties, though some readers point to fluctuations in value and experience.

SO good -- genuinely one of the best croissants I've ever had, including compared to the ones in Paris! Lescurier / Alex Platel features beautiful, perfectly flaky croissants with the most gorgeous laminated dough & golden brown crust. The pastries are buttery & rich, but not so much so that it feels overwhelming, which means that, despite being quite large, they don't feel overly heavy or dense. The chocolatine / pain au chocolat also gives an opportunity to try their delicious home-made chocolate, which is phenomenal!

They don't have any seating inside, but they're located right next to a few parks & stretch of streets with plenty of benches. It's a great spot to pick up a few pastries before enjoying a good walk or hanging out outside. I am SO incredibly excited to have found this spot, & I can't wait to come back to try more of their pastries & chocolates!

Excellent Kouing Aman, light sweet. Croissant is very good, Paris Brest is too sweet for my taste, some might like it, the cream is OK. Chausson aux pommes is more on the bread side.
