Delicious cannoli!! 4.50$ each for the one shown with ricotta. They also have cannolis with butter cream filling & many different flavours. Can't wait to go back!
If you're looking for the real taste of Italy in Montreal, you absolutely have to visit Pasticceria Alati-Caserta in Little Italy. After living in Montreal for a decade & trying countless bakeries, I can honestly say this is the gold standard for Italian pastries in the city.
The cannoli here are out of this world-crispy shells, filled to order with the creamiest ricotta filling (not too sweet, just right). I've brought friends from Italy, & even they were impressed! I also recommend trying their sfogliatelle & marzipan cookies-everything is made fresh & you can truly taste the quality. If you're celebrating something special, their custom cakes are beautifully made & always a hit.
The shop itself is charming & feels like stepping into a little corner of Naples. It can get busy, especially on weekends or around holidays, so be prepared for a bit of a line. But honestly, it's worth the wait. The staff is friendly & will happily help you choose if you're not sure what to try.
Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic Italian desserts or wants to experience a true Montreal classic.
I recently visited this Italian pastry shop with high hopes, especially for their cannoli, which came highly recommended by social media & highly advertised. The shop has a tempting display of traditional Italian sweets. Seating area outside consists of a bench & picnic table. The lady who served us looked annoyed. Nothing personal, maybe she was having a bad day.
When it came to the cannoli, I have to admit I was underwhelmed. The ricotta filling tasted way too sweet for me & had a mix , I would say a tiny bit of ricotta & very buttery cream in the regular cannoli, the others cannolis had a creamy butter filling. It didn't have the richness or depth of flavor I was hoping for. It wasn't bad-it was just... okay.
That said, some of their other pastries tasted delicious & I'd be willing to give them another shot-just probably not for the cannoli.
Your best cannoli is probably at your local Italian bakery or paistry shop. Mine is!
They were out of oven baked zepolle when I arrived in the early afternoon. Only custard filled ones were left (ricotta sold out). Not only did I find $5.95 to be a steep price for a lump of dough, but it was very ordinary. The custard tasted synthetic like from a mix!!!! The kind you get from a super market. What the heck? How is that even possible with all the good reviews here. We also got a slice of cheesecake, which was ok (not sure where they get it from). The cute little lamb pastries sitting in cellophane all around were $15 each, according to a sticker I saw. Hopefully, a mistake? Why so expensive?? In any case, it was my first & last time going there. My quest for Italian baked goods will continue elsewere.
I usually love this bakery it was my first time buying Zeppole here & the traditional fried Zeppole were not great. I understand they are fried but you could taste the oil. I don't know if it is because the oil was old. The ricotta & custard filling was good but I would not buy these again. Maybe their baked Zeppole are better.
I am not the biggest fan of cannolis in general but I must admit these are exceptionally delicious. Most cannolis get soggy & the ricotta texture throws me off but these ones are made so well. I brought them over to a dinner party & we cut them all up to sample each flavour. Pistachio is delicious but my personal favorite was the Oreo one 👌🏼 10/10 recommend
This place is really excellent......the cannolis are really good......everyone try one of my favorites......a roll with honey ,almonds & ricotta.....the cassata cake is really good too....in pastry size too.....pizza excellent......I like the cookies too.....the marzipan cookies too.......
The best sfogliatelle!!! & the variety of the cannolis is also great, especially with ricotta & hazelnut.
Bon choix de pâtisseries de toutes sortes & bons prix. Toujours un plaisir de goûter à leurs Ricottas Je le recommande vivement cet endroit
Never planned but when we visited Little Italy saw quite a big line & was curious to taste their pastries. Loved their Cannolis with firm & crisp outer shell & variety of creamy filling inside such as lemon, chocolate, pistachios, strawberry & even more. We also tried their Ricotta cheese Chocolate cake which has chocolate & Ricotta cheese layer & not very sweet. Highly recommended. Oh did I mentioned you have have to stand in a small line so plan for spending some additional time to this shop. However their highly skilled staffs handles & manages the crowd very efficiently. Also big shout for Decio their staff who helped us & was extremely cordial, polite & professional to make us understand their popular & on-demand product. Packing reminds me of old days & their variety of cakes, pastries & desserts at reasonable rate will never disappoint you.. I wish they had some additional space else waiting outside during the winter time may be difficult sometimes...
