Pasticceria Alati-Caserta has proudly been in business since 1968. Vittorio Caldarone and his wife, Maria Di Meo opened their first shop on Saint-Viateur Street, and then settled in Little Italy because of its bigger location. Their son, Marco grew up surrounded by life in a pastry shop, and now runs PasticceriaAlati-Caserta along with his wife, Linda.

Review Summary

Pasticceria Alati-Caserta is widely praised for authentic Italian pastries, with cannoli featuring crisp shells and creamy filling, classic sfogliatelle, tiramisu and a broad range of cakes and cookies that taste fresh and true to traditional Naples-inspired pastry making. The shop is often called a must-visit and a Montreal classic, with friendly, attentive staff and a charming, open bakery feel, though a few reviews point to occasional inconsistent service and high prices. Even on busy weekends, the selection and quality are described as worth the wait, and many customers celebrate the variety of sweets and the option to try cakes by the slice. Some items have drawn criticism, such as certain cannoli fillings, zeppole or butter-cream versions, with a handful finding some sweets overly sweet or not up to expectations. Overall, the pastries, from cannoli to tiramisu and eclairs, are seen as standout and the place remains a landmark for authentic Italian desserts in Little Italy.

The BEST dessert in montreal!!!

If you're looking for the real taste of Italy in Montreal, you absolutely have to visit Pasticceria Alati-Caserta in Little Italy. After living in Montreal for a decade & trying countless bakeries, I can honestly say this is the gold standard for Italian pastries in the city.

The cannoli here are out of this world-crispy shells, filled to order with the creamiest ricotta filling (not too sweet, just right). I've brought friends from Italy, & even they were impressed! I also recommend trying their sfogliatelle & marzipan cookies-everything is made fresh & you can truly taste the quality. If you're celebrating something special, their custom cakes are beautifully made & always a hit.

The shop itself is charming & feels like stepping into a little corner of Naples. It can get busy, especially on weekends or around holidays, so be prepared for a bit of a line. But honestly, it's worth the wait. The staff is friendly & will happily help you choose if you're not sure what to try.

Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic Italian desserts or wants to experience a true Montreal classic.

Holy moly! I asked her for something with lots of chocolate in it, & this does not disappoint. This is the richest, densest dessert that I have ever eaten. The chocolate is so thick that the plastic spoon was bending. They did not overdo it on the sweetness either. The texture is like a truffle all of the way through, & even the crust is a nice chocolatey crumble.

It's the perfect energy boost to eat in the middle of a 70km Bixi tour.

Amazing Italian Desserts!! I tried the nougat which was wonderful, the mini cannoli with pistachio cream, & some almond cookies all very good. There was a good line up so this is obviously a very popular place!

Original cannoli was so deliciuos! If I could I would buy cakes & all desserts because they look really deliciuos. We have tried nut cannoli with pistachio cream it was sweet & really tasty, more to sweet side. Thank you & wish you good luck. I will come back again. No tables to sit inside, but you can enjoy cannoli in fresh air ☀️

Never planned but when we visited Little Italy saw quite a big line & was curious to taste their pastries. Loved their Cannolis with firm & crisp outer shell & variety of creamy filling inside such as lemon, chocolate, pistachios, strawberry & even more. We also tried their Ricotta cheese Chocolate cake which has chocolate & Ricotta cheese layer & not very sweet. Highly recommended. Oh did I mentioned you have have to stand in a small line so plan for spending some additional time to this shop. However their highly skilled staffs handles & manages the crowd very efficiently. Also big shout for Decio their staff who helped us & was extremely cordial, polite & professional to make us understand their popular & on-demand product. Packing reminds me of old days & their variety of cakes, pastries & desserts at reasonable rate will never disappoint you.. I wish they had some additional space else waiting outside during the winter time may be difficult sometimes...
