I was honestly really excited to try this from reading all the positive reviews. Yet, i have to be honest. The place was dirty & smelly. Besides that, sushi was loaded with rice & a few tiny pieces of fish. There was nothing but price to taste.
Alao, they all crumbled after one bite - it was a giant mess to eat ! & the salads are not with more than $2 due to the minimal quantity they provide - a few measly pieces of lettuce, 3 slices cucumbers & a few pieces of crab. Seriously overpriced for what you're getting.
This is a 5/5 for me because I got exactly the experience I was expecting for the price.
A warm & cozy little lunch counter serving huge onigiri. The service was quick & the food was great! I had a spicy salmon, Korean fried chicken, & beef with marinated jammy egg yolk. Yum!
They have many different kinds to choose from, as well as some simple soups. I don't think you'll be disappointed 👍
Love this place! The food is great, price is good & the employees are super friendly. I strongly recommend the Korean Fried Chicken.
I recently visited this place that shares its space with a sushi restaurant next door. The onigiri portions are generous for their size, & the prices are very affordable. I tried a few flavors: beef miso, cooked salmon, mixed salmon (fresh, cooked salmon & ikura), & eel. The flavors were okay overall, though I found the beef a bit too salty for my liking. One challenge was that the fillings tended to fall apart after the first bite, making them a bit tricky to eat. That said, I'm still intrigued & plan to go back to try more flavors next time. It's worth checking out if you're in the area & looking for a quick & budget-friendly bite!
Great place to grab a quick lunch. Onigiris are fine & at a great price. I do find this location make better onigiris than the one on Notre-Dame.
Reasonably affordable prices, so quick & delicious! Onigiris was so warm & fresh keep up the quality & portion everything is perfect! Im not a huge fan of the yolks its a bit too salty or gooey for me
I had such a lovely experience at Onigiri Shop! We popped in around 1 PM on a Thursday, & it was pretty busy, but we managed to find a cozy spot at the bar for the four of us (two kids & two adults). It was perfect because the kids were completely captivated watching the staff make the onigiris! Everything we tried was absolutely delicious, & I was so impressed with the prices - they're even cheaper than what you'd pay at the grocery store! The size & quality were top-notch. No wonder so many people were coming in for takeout! We ended up dining in but couldn't resist grabbing some to go because they were just that good. I can't recommend this place enough!
This place delivers on the rice & filling fronts. I especially like the raw salmon & unagi. Unfortunately I don't really like their seaweed-it would be more crisp & flavourful if it wasn't pressed directly onto the hot rice. That said, the service is great & they're very generous with good portions & affordable prices. Would come back
I loveee the prices absolutely my fav part, the workers are so so nice & I love the system they have for telling you when your food is ready! There is not a ton of seating indoors but a bit more outside, great to go with your friends & grab a bite to eat! I dislike how it closes so early on Friday!
Went to dine in a month ago. Love the concept & prices are good for the portions. They're a lot bigger than your typical onigiri at your local korean convenience store. Menu has many options but their basic onigiris are fantastic don't overlook them! Interior is very small & not a lot of room to dine in so I recommend getting a to go if you're looking for a quick bite!
Good food, good prices - but closing on a Friday night at 7? Doesn't make any sense.
Price from 3.99/each to 7.99 $/each. Today I ordered luxury salmon & Mount Fuji, after tax & tip it was nearly 20$, not cheap but the taste is quite good. After that, I tried fresh salmon (3.99 $) & tama beef (5.25 $). They are all good in general. Imo, you can order the luxury one when u want to treat yourself a bit fancier, but in general the classic one is already good enough. I do recommend the fresh salmon one
Exploring new neighborhood for me & I saw this onigiri store from the outside with the banner said "starting from $3.99" & I couldn't resist to try & it's true. The basic onigiri, the tuna onigiri that I ordered was $3.99, but the thing that makes me surprised was with that price, the made a very good onigiri. The rice is good, the filling is generous, up until the bottom of the onigiri & almosy over the inside of the onigiri. I also ordered the beef tama onigiri, & their specialties, Mont-Royal, which cost a little bit pricier but still good & 3 of those onigiri enough to fill me for the whole day. The place on the other hand is really small & sometimes it can be crowded. On summer, there's an outside terrase, but on winter, I can see this place would be a little bit tight. Also there's a sushi store connected to the onigiri & you can order the sushi & eat in the onigiri place too.
Miso was good, cheesecake was ok but not worth the price. Why did my onigiri taste like baking soda? We got 3 & the rice all had that same weird taste. I've had onigiri before, I know what seasoned rice is supposed to taste like, but I've never tasted anything like this. It wasn't pleasant. Maybe that's the style? I really don't know. Nori was gummy - maybe consider the option of having it packaged separate for to-go or delivery orders? Too bad because I really wanted to like this place. Good value for price, but not to my taste at all.
The place is small but the onigiris are the best onigiri I ate in my life! Generous portions, fair price, delicious flavors! I recommend!!
Best onigiri I've had in my life! The staff is helpful & the food is reasonably priced, delicious & made with fresh ingredients. Highly recommended.
cool spot at monkland, 4$ onigiris are good, buy a cheap drink at the provigo next to it or get free water ( a rarity these days, really glad they have it) at the place sometimes gets cramped, service can be unreliable at times, but the relatively cheap food & atmosphere makes up for it. would defiently get the taiwanese pork onigiri, by far the best one, you can also get spicy salmon keep in mind that these onigiris are mostly worth it for the 4$ price & atmosphere, if any of this changes so will my review
The atmosphere is good; it's not really a dinning experience as in there is space to sit but very cramped However, the onigiris really make up for it they are good & the price is perfect for a student like me. The menu is really well made sure to find something that tickles your fancy. Service is a bit rough but it is to be expected for such a small space. The people are always nice & professional.
Price is ok but overall a little underwhelming in flavour. Not exactly like Japanese onigiri but a more westernized version with interesting varieties. Needs more salt & seaweed must be crispier.
It's actually quite good. I was skeptical at first because of some reviews saying they got food poisoning, glad to know the staff corrected the hygiene. Prices are fair (between 3.99 & 5.75) & they really stuff it to the max : onigiris are big & filling. I bought 3 : korean chicken & tama, the salmon avocado & the beef. Definitely get the salmon & avocado & try a 2nd one. A perfect place for takeout lunch since the shop is quite small.
