This is a 5/5 for me because I got exactly the experience I was expecting for the price.
A warm & cozy little lunch counter serving huge onigiri. The service was quick & the food was great! I had a spicy salmon, Korean fried chicken, & beef with marinated jammy egg yolk. Yum!
They have many different kinds to choose from, as well as some simple soups. I don't think you'll be disappointed 👍
Major food safety concerns here. The raw tuna & salmon were served warm - that's dangerous. The onigiri rice was also warm when it should be cool... One kind female worker was juggling serving, taking orders, & washing dishes all at once. The male worker spent the entire time chatting with someone & couldn't even tell us where the garbage bin was. 5 stars reviews were given by people that never tasted good food. Between the subpar food quality & questionable sanitation practices, I can't recommend this place.
I asked my boyfriend to get me a raw salmon & a spicy tuna onigiri as I waited outside with my dog. It came out, but they mistakenly put the tuna & salmon into one onigiri. My bf went inside to tell them of their mistake, & they made me two more onigiris without charging us anything. Great atmosphere & attention to customers. The food is always a 10/10
We've bought some onigiris here & i can say its good, but a bit oily & stuff. the staff is also nice & the atmostphere is just a vibe. I would recommend the salmon mayo, as for the other like spicy chicken or spicy salmon, it can get pretty oily with there chilli oil.
4.99 for a nice portion of onigiri with generous filling. Spicy salmon, tuna & eel onigiri are the best!
My coworker & I decided to drop-by to get some lunch.
Very cute place, friendly staff & the onigiris were delish.
I took the beef tama & the fresh salmon one, they are bigger than the usual onigiris elsewhere, very filling & tasty!
I also took a small cucumber salad on the side. omg drools. i took the shrimp & crabstick as protein & sesame dressing as choice… soooo good. & refreshing.
2 onigiris + small salad costs me $20 something
beautiful lunch, def going back
First, amazing quality rice. I've been experimenting with Toyama & Hokkaido, but this shop's rice mouthfeel is great! Higher quality than some shops in Japan. The filling is plentiful, & their combos are great. Miso beef was slightly salty, hearty, & had a lot of rice & beef. The egg yolk beef was also a wonderful combination. The salmon was hearty & bountiful. The seaweed is also not soggy. I would come again. Though they may not be all jp, they did a good job working on their recipes. Better than some smaller jp shops I've been :)
I recently visited this place that shares its space with a sushi restaurant next door. The onigiri portions are generous for their size, & the prices are very affordable. I tried a few flavors: beef miso, cooked salmon, mixed salmon (fresh, cooked salmon & ikura), & eel. The flavors were okay overall, though I found the beef a bit too salty for my liking. One challenge was that the fillings tended to fall apart after the first bite, making them a bit tricky to eat. That said, I'm still intrigued & plan to go back to try more flavors next time. It's worth checking out if you're in the area & looking for a quick & budget-friendly bite!
tried the raw salmon, salmon & raw egg onigiri & they were just way too good 😭❤️
This place delivers on the rice & filling fronts. I especially like the raw salmon & unagi. Unfortunately I don't really like their seaweed-it would be more crisp & flavourful if it wasn't pressed directly onto the hot rice. That said, the service is great & they're very generous with good portions & affordable prices. Would come back
Many choices of onigiri. I recommend the fresh salmon one. Fresh & delicious. I didn't try the Korean Fried Chicken but that seemed like the most popular onigiri. The place is small. Most people come for takeout. However, there are small tables inside & on the patio if you want to eat there. They also sell a few Japanese food items to take home like furikake, wasabi & mirin.
Onigiri was great & relatively cheap & something you can easily eat on the go. Got the mixed salmon & tuna as well as the Taiwanese braised pork. Their seafood one was better though the pork was also delicious.
Price from 3.99/each to 7.99 $/each. Today I ordered luxury salmon & Mount Fuji, after tax & tip it was nearly 20$, not cheap but the taste is quite good. After that, I tried fresh salmon (3.99 $) & tama beef (5.25 $). They are all good in general. Imo, you can order the luxury one when u want to treat yourself a bit fancier, but in general the classic one is already good enough. I do recommend the fresh salmon one
Tasty choices. Really affordable. Favorite were the salmon avocado & the shrimp & crabstick. Well seasoned. Woukd love to try other types
Food is amazing, salmon is very fresh & the unagi is great!! Very nice owners & workers. I ordered 6 onigiris from doordash & the delivery guy stole 4. I called them & they decided to deliver the rest. The onigiris were great & they gave me 2 for free! Thank you so much :)
J'ai adoré! J'ai acheté deux onigiris ( C1 Beef-Tama & S1 Salmon deluxe ) & les deux sont excellents. Service impeccable & rapide, je recommande fortement le déplacement. I loved it! I ordered two onigiris ( C1 Beef-Tama & S1 Salmon deluxe ) & both were excellent. Fast & impeccable service, I highly recommend.
Probably the best onigiri ever!! We were travelling from Toronto & didn't know the store timings. So even though the kitchen closed half hour ago they still let us order & made the most yummy giant onigirs!!! We ordered cooked salmon & cooked shrimp!
cool spot at monkland, 4$ onigiris are good, buy a cheap drink at the provigo next to it or get free water ( a rarity these days, really glad they have it) at the place sometimes gets cramped, service can be unreliable at times, but the relatively cheap food & atmosphere makes up for it. would defiently get the taiwanese pork onigiri, by far the best one, you can also get spicy salmon keep in mind that these onigiris are mostly worth it for the 4$ price & atmosphere, if any of this changes so will my review
Délicieux, attente d'environ 20-30min, longue file, mais en vaut la peine! Je recommande: Fuji moutain, Braized pork Taiwanese, fresh salmon (raw)
Lengthy review alert First, I started going to Onigiri shop pretty early on, I would say from January 14 as I saw it opened & was interested in trying it. I first went with friends & we each ordered a bunch of different onigiris to try as many flavors. We were blown away by how good it is (yes it is just rice & filling & seaweed technically) & had to get extra to share with other friends. But simple things are even harder to be delicious! The place is a little small, it cannot accommodate that many people, maybe 15-18 people to sit inside. They do share the space with the sushi store. I have since been almost weekly as it was always delicious & fresh. I guess this is a sign to just say that I have went there pretty often. Amongst all the times I have went I do need to precise that I have never gotten food poisoning, & neither have my friends & family. Contrary to that, they were also smitten by the onigiris. During the period where they weren't as busy, the owner had offered us tonjiru soup, as I kept asking every week but never had it, ultimately he did decide to remove it. (It was delicious) He was always super nice & welcoming, offering hot water (Very nice in cold weather) I will be adding pictures of all the onigiris I had eaten, some are discontinued. I have basically eaten all the old menu except the one with fried chicken (includes Kpop) Every onigiri is big & they do not skimp on the filling. I tend to go for at least 1 classic & 1 "fancy" one. 2 is enough for me & 3 honestly is overkill but I do enjoy having multiple flavors. I have experienced both pre & ante virality & I can say for sure the quality remained the same. I did go less after it went viral as it is always packed, but they have a system & they hired more workers! I truly believe they deserve the hype & I am very happy that their business is going so well. All in all, very delicious. Would always go. I recommend the Salmon Luxe & eel! (But honestly everything is good)
