Incredible lunch spot! Delicious & filling $5 onigiri in a neighbourhood that's generally quite expensive.
Only note I'd have is the staff evidently didn't know what'gluten free' meant. There are lots of gluten-intolerant folks around that would love to know this!
4.99 for a nice portion of onigiri with generous filling. Spicy salmon, tuna & eel onigiri are the best!
My coworker & I decided to drop-by to get some lunch.
Very cute place, friendly staff & the onigiris were delish.
I took the beef tama & the fresh salmon one, they are bigger than the usual onigiris elsewhere, very filling & tasty!
I also took a small cucumber salad on the side. omg drools. i took the shrimp & crabstick as protein & sesame dressing as choice… soooo good. & refreshing.
2 onigiris + small salad costs me $20 something
beautiful lunch, def going back
Honestly, I really wanted to like this place but it just wasn't it. Too much rice & the filling is minimal & lacks flavor. I've had much better onigiri from Asian supermarkets that were cheaper.
Great but they messed up my order. Fillings pictured to help with ordering
First, amazing quality rice. I've been experimenting with Toyama & Hokkaido, but this shop's rice mouthfeel is great! Higher quality than some shops in Japan. The filling is plentiful, & their combos are great. Miso beef was slightly salty, hearty, & had a lot of rice & beef. The egg yolk beef was also a wonderful combination. The salmon was hearty & bountiful. The seaweed is also not soggy. I would come again. Though they may not be all jp, they did a good job working on their recipes. Better than some smaller jp shops I've been :)
I recently visited this place that shares its space with a sushi restaurant next door. The onigiri portions are generous for their size, & the prices are very affordable. I tried a few flavors: beef miso, cooked salmon, mixed salmon (fresh, cooked salmon & ikura), & eel. The flavors were okay overall, though I found the beef a bit too salty for my liking. One challenge was that the fillings tended to fall apart after the first bite, making them a bit tricky to eat. That said, I'm still intrigued & plan to go back to try more flavors next time. It's worth checking out if you're in the area & looking for a quick & budget-friendly bite!
This place delivers on the rice & filling fronts. I especially like the raw salmon & unagi. Unfortunately I don't really like their seaweed-it would be more crisp & flavourful if it wasn't pressed directly onto the hot rice. That said, the service is great & they're very generous with good portions & affordable prices. Would come back
The onigiri rice balls at this shop are filled with delicious fillings♪ The staff are friendly & the onigiri rice balls are perfect, even for me as a Japanese person.
Exploring new neighborhood for me & I saw this onigiri store from the outside with the banner said "starting from $3.99" & I couldn't resist to try & it's true. The basic onigiri, the tuna onigiri that I ordered was $3.99, but the thing that makes me surprised was with that price, the made a very good onigiri. The rice is good, the filling is generous, up until the bottom of the onigiri & almosy over the inside of the onigiri. I also ordered the beef tama onigiri, & their specialties, Mont-Royal, which cost a little bit pricier but still good & 3 of those onigiri enough to fill me for the whole day. The place on the other hand is really small & sometimes it can be crowded. On summer, there's an outside terrase, but on winter, I can see this place would be a little bit tight. Also there's a sushi store connected to the onigiri & you can order the sushi & eat in the onigiri place too.
The quality of Japanese rice used is good. Rice & filling are both equally delicious & nice for lunch or dinner.
Lengthy review alert First, I started going to Onigiri shop pretty early on, I would say from January 14 as I saw it opened & was interested in trying it. I first went with friends & we each ordered a bunch of different onigiris to try as many flavors. We were blown away by how good it is (yes it is just rice & filling & seaweed technically) & had to get extra to share with other friends. But simple things are even harder to be delicious! The place is a little small, it cannot accommodate that many people, maybe 15-18 people to sit inside. They do share the space with the sushi store. I have since been almost weekly as it was always delicious & fresh. I guess this is a sign to just say that I have went there pretty often. Amongst all the times I have went I do need to precise that I have never gotten food poisoning, & neither have my friends & family. Contrary to that, they were also smitten by the onigiris. During the period where they weren't as busy, the owner had offered us tonjiru soup, as I kept asking every week but never had it, ultimately he did decide to remove it. (It was delicious) He was always super nice & welcoming, offering hot water (Very nice in cold weather) I will be adding pictures of all the onigiris I had eaten, some are discontinued. I have basically eaten all the old menu except the one with fried chicken (includes Kpop) Every onigiri is big & they do not skimp on the filling. I tend to go for at least 1 classic & 1 "fancy" one. 2 is enough for me & 3 honestly is overkill but I do enjoy having multiple flavors. I have experienced both pre & ante virality & I can say for sure the quality remained the same. I did go less after it went viral as it is always packed, but they have a system & they hired more workers! I truly believe they deserve the hype & I am very happy that their business is going so well. All in all, very delicious. Would always go. I recommend the Salmon Luxe & eel! (But honestly everything is good)
Incredible onigiri, with snappy nori, perfectly cooked rice & amazing fillings! It's quite a small place so it's difficult to find seating if it's busy but eating in is a must, since the decor & presentation are very lovely. Many vegetarian, fish & meat-based options.
It's actually quite good. I was skeptical at first because of some reviews saying they got food poisoning, glad to know the staff corrected the hygiene. Prices are fair (between 3.99 & 5.75) & they really stuff it to the max : onigiris are big & filling. I bought 3 : korean chicken & tama, the salmon avocado & the beef. Definitely get the salmon & avocado & try a 2nd one. A perfect place for takeout lunch since the shop is quite small.
Large Onigiris with great variety, very filling too :) Definitely try the chef's special those are the best! Great choice of songs for in-door dining btw 😄 Miso soup was also delicious
this was a very pleasantly surprising discovery !! the onigiris are surprisingly cheap : & it's not because the quality is bad. there's a lot of filling, & it's good quality : fresh fish, egg, cheese, avocado, etc. the employees were nice & hard at work, the kicthen was clean. the onigiris were very filling & I felt satisfied after one. it was very crowded, I guess it was a victim of it's own success !! we managed to find a seat, wasn't the most comfortable, but it wasn't too bad. i'll definitely be going back for an affordable delicious meal !!

Friendly staff, good service. It was at peak hour so there were a lot of people, we could dine in or take it out. I'd say it's worth it, the onigiri were big & high quality. However, the taste was not that good to be honest. Having had authentic onigiri, those were way too salty for both people who like japanese food & those who don't eat it often. It had way too much salt & spices, so the rice was honestly not that yummy which is fatal for an onigiri shop. I also got terrible food poisoning, one of the worst I ever experienced & the only raw onigiri I had was the egg one. Overall a good shop, but not recommended for first timers & only go if you really crave a fast filling japanese meal.
Oishi! It's satisfying & not just Instagram hype, at least on own opinion. The rice was not mushy or hard & the filling is just perfect, hope it won't change in the long run. Real value for money for rice lovers 😋. If not for the long waiting time it could have been 5star, well we want freshly made right?! Kudos Onigiri Shop!
