New City Gas stands out in Montreal nightlife with electric energy, impressive production, and top tier sound and lighting that set an instantly exciting mood. The venue draws big crowds, especially for sold-out shows, which can make dancing difficult and lead to long lines at coat check and at the bars. Drinks are on the expensive side, but VIP access is often worth it for easier entry and more space. Overall this venue is praised for its atmosphere, the quality of DJs, and the memorable experience, though crowd management and some service inconsistencies are repeatedly noted as areas for improvement.
Went to see Robin Schulz & the crowd was honestly terrible. A lot of younger kids were pushing nonstop & being really rude, which ruined the vibe. It also felt like they oversold tickets because it was way too packed to enjoy properly. On top of that, the staff at the door outside were very rude, which didn't help the experience at all.

Went to see Infected Mushroom with VIP tickets. No wait to get in, no wait for coat check entering & leaving the place. We asked a couple of questions to the staff not knowing where to go & everyone was very cordial with us. VIP area (2nd floor) was not crowded at all so it was extremely enjoyable. Show was insane! Only thing i would have appreciated is more flexibility on beer choices.
Different strokes for different folks, but this place really attracts a certain type of crowd, & not in a good way. It's a too bad, because they consistently book great talent.
The sad part: so much of the venue is sectioned off for bottle service that it's actually hard to move around freely. It creates this sterile, elitist atmosphere that feels more about status than music, & honestly, it's off-putting.
Also, I paid for the vip ticket, but there wasn't any benefit to that purchase. Still a lot of restrictions to access.
Worst venue ever, literally barred us from leaving then shoved a girl who was having a panic attack because she needed air, you're lucky the greasy cockroach scuttled off otherwise I can garuntee you would have had one less staff by the end of the night once that crowd got ahold of him
I went there for the New Year's Eve event, & they clearly oversold it. The place was extremely crowded - I couldn't move or even dance. People were constantly squeezing past us. I eventually started feeling claustrophobic, had a panic attack, & had to leave.
When we went to get our coats, the crowd was so intense that I couldn't even reach the coat check or breathe properly. We decided to come back the next day to pick them up.
However, when we returned, the place was closed for the next two weeks. Their opening hours here were not updated, so we went there twice only to realize they were closed.
After two weeks, I finally went back with our coat check tickets & initials. They were only able to find one of our coats. They told me they would call me about the other one - but no one ever did. I called multiple times & sent emails, & no one responded. No one even apologized for losing my coat.
What is the point of paying for coat check if they're going to lose it? How was my coat given to someone else if they didn't have the ticket for it?
I'm extremely disappointed & will never go back.

We went here last weekend for a show & it was a good experience. The audio quality is good, drinks are nice & the atmosphere is lively. Sometimes it gets too crowded but I can't complain. That means it is a popular place. Always down for some late night fun.
Unreal experience at New City Gas! The production, sound system, & lighting are next level, & the atmosphere is unmatched. The crowd energy is amazing, & the venue is well organized despite how busy it gets.
Staff & security are professional, & everything runs smoothly. One of the best electronic music venues I've been to in Montreal, highly recommend!

One of my favourite venues for music events! The washroom stalls are nothing special, but there's a common fountain for everyone to wash their hands. It's really cool. It has 2 levels. The bottom level is like a lounge; it is not intimate. The top level is like a warehouse; high ceilings & more of space to dance. Only downside about this space is that it gets really crowded at sold out shows; this could also be because that oversell some shows. They need better crowd control.
Too crowded. It turns the crowd very pushy since everyone's walking over each other. Even in metal shows I don't get pushed around THAT much. 70% of that capacity would be 5/5
The place was super duper crowded. You can barely dance. The club is huge & has fancy lights. Good crowd though. The staff is friendly. I would say pick & choose your DJ. We went with Camel Phat & was 3/5. Have seen much better lightening & sounds than this but it is worth a visit if you love partying. Drinks are $$$.
Got to experience Crankdat performing on the first 360? stage at the venue, absolutely perfect stage setup for the venue. visuals were awesome, sold out show but still had room in the crowd, bar prices were decent & was not over heating. Enjoyed my first time going to NCG & it definitely won't be my last!
Went to see Adventure Club & also the New Year Markus Schulz show. The venue is cool, the sound is decent, the staff was all professional. A few notes: Some of the bartenders do not know English well, I ordered a Gin Soda, & was given a Grey Goose Soda with lemon juice (costs $3 more than what I wanted). Not a big deal, but it was annoying. The New Years event was extremely crowded, you could not move at all, packed full of people, it would have been better if there was less people. Giving it 4/5 cause the overcrowded New Years event was disappointing, otherwise the Adventure Club event was a 5/5.
