Ramen was a bit salty, but chicken karage was extremely crispy & fried to perfection. Good place to have in Canada as you'll be transported back to Tokyo with the neon lights. Suggest to go early as the rush seem to come after 6
This was a fantastic find. The retro Tokyo vibes were super cool, from ceiling to the floor to the bathroom everything was on theme. The drinks were very good & the food delicious. We recommend the spicy karaage (which isn't much spicy, tasted like Korean fried chicken) & the tan tan ramen which had a lovely nutty taste.
The ambiance & decor explains the hype. The food was worth the wait.
Expérience fabuleuse! Ils ont réussi à amener le ramen à un autre niveau de par le service, la cuisine & l'ambiance.
The spicy chicken karaage was a highlight, the portions generous & delicious, overall a highlight of our visit.
While the food was undeniably delicious, the overall dining experience left much to be desired. Upon arrival, we were promptly seated, but the wait for basic service was unexpectedly long. It took about 20 minutes just to receive water after being seated. What disappointed us further was observing a group of four seated next to us receiving fast service, despite arriving after us. They even received their meals before us, despite our earlier order. Additionally, when requesting our checks, we had to remind the staff twice. Though our server was doing their best, the overall management of the floor seemed lacking. One instance was when another staff member abruptly interrupted our conversation to announce the kitchen's last call, disregarding our inquiries about a drink. This lack of coordination among staff members negatively impacted our dining experience. While the food is undoubtedly worth revisiting for, improvements in service efficiency & staff coordination are necessary for a truly enjoyable dining experience
Merci
Good food & very cool atmosphere. Spicy chicken & Octopus balls were very good. Gyoza was gyoza..
Vildt godt! Maden er god, vores tjener var meget cool og opmaerksom. Derudover er indretningen ogsa meget interessant.
Before tonight, I would have given Neotokyo five stars easily. Over the last year, it has been one of my favorite spots to treat myself, & the steak mazemen has been one of my ultimate comfort foods. Tonight I went in to be told that it has been taken off the menu, along with several other popular dishes. The printed menu still LISTS all these dishes, mind, but the very apologetic waiter informed me they're not actually available to order anymore. I would think something that isn't broke doesn't require fixing, but apparently the owner doesn't share this view, & it's a shame, because I don't think I will be coming back to Neotokyo if everything I liked is no longer available to me. The ambiance is cool, the waitstaff is WONDERFUL, but it can't give me what I want out of my dining experience, so, unfortunately I will have to find somewhere else to get my mazemen fix.
This place is downright awesome! Great food, great service. Neotokyo Extra Mazemen, sweet & spicy kaarage chicken & Hamachi crudo killed it. Coming back for sure!!
Was looking for a cool & cute restaurant to go while in Montreal & found this one on tiktok ! I got the goma miso mazemen & it was super tasty ! They have some vegetarain options which is always something to appreciate. The food is a little bit pricey for a student, but the quality definitely makes it worth it. I have a lot of allergies, so it's always stressful to go to a new restaurant, especially abroad. The server was so patient & kindly went over the WHOLE menu for us. Truly appreciate it when people really care about their client. He was even sweet enough to give us some good recommendations of places to visit while in town ! Thank you Alex !
We had the Karaage, Takoyaki "nachos" & Tonkotsu. The Tonkotsu arrived to the table about 5 minutes before the appetizers which was a little strange, but everything was served within ten - fifteen minutes of ordering. The Tonkotsu was very flavorful, maybe slightly too salty, but still very enjoyable. The noodles & the egg were done perfectly! Noodles had a soft & chewy texture, egg was soft boiled to perfection, & the creamy broth coated everything nicely. The meat could have been more tender & flavourful, but it wasn't bad by any means. Next came the Takoyaki "nachos". I'm a big fan of Takoyaki, we asked if we could get it traditional, without the "nacho" part, but we were told it's not possible. It's 4 pieces in total, fried with Dorito crumbs, covered in sauce, sliced fresh jalapeno, & bonito flakes. I usually love bonito flakes, but these ones were SO smoky & overpowering that I couldn't taste the Takoyaki or the sauce. Seriously unpleasant in my opinion, I felt like I ate a spoonful of liquid smoke. The Karaage was good, well battered & very tender, served with an interesting aoli, however, still not what I was hoping for. (If you love Karaage, check it out at Gyu Kaku. *Chefs kiss*). The atmosphere was great, we loved the lighting & decor, & the service was friendly but if I'm being honest, the best part of the meal was who I ate it with. Overall, I'm glad we tried it, but wouldn't go back.
