This restaurant is like a warm hug for your soul! The atmosphere is like a 90's ski lodge that is so cozy & welcoming!
I had the shrimp cocktail as a starter with enormous shrimp! Then a massive portion of fries & amazing coleslaw with my beef dip sandwich on the best pretzel bun I've ever had!
Will be going back!
I found this restaurant while visiting the area a couple of months ago. The place had a very traditional & classic vibe, so I decided to try it. Since it's outside Montreal Island, it takes at least a 30 minute drive, but honestly, I think it's worth it.
I made a reservation, & the restaurant was not too busy. The building itself felt like an old house with a beautiful vintage atmosphere. The environment was warm, elegant, & charming like stepping back 70 years in time. The decoration really gives a 1950s classic restaurant feeling.
The staff were very welcoming & friendly. For appetizers, I ordered the garlic cheese bread, & it was perfect. For the main course, I had the BBQ ribs & boneless chicken breast with homemade sauce & fries, along with a glass of beer. The ribs & chicken were absolutely delicious, & the homemade sauce had a very unique taste that I really loved.
Overall, everything was perfect ,the food, the atmosphere, & the service. I will definitely come back again, & I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a cozy & classic dining experience.
Everything was amazing. The food was incredibly delicious, unique, & clearly made with high quality ingredients. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very calm & cozy, & the beautiful interior design gives you a nostalgic feeling that takes you back in time.
The fish & chips was honestly the best I've ever had, perfectly crispy, flavorful, & served with delicious fries & an amazing tartare sauce. The garlic cheese bread was also delicious.
The staff were very polite & professional. This restaurant truly gives you the feeling of enjoying a high quality homemade meal in a peaceful environment. Highly recommended!
Great prices! The his restaurant is set in an old farm house. You are greeted by the scent of a wood burning fire place & friendly staff. Food is fairly priced with lots of choices.
Once, I had an excellent cheese burger, great fries & descent nachos on seperate occasions & decided to return once again for a birthday. What a monumental letdown this time around (Saturday for lunch). The worst nachos & equally lame ceasars salad. Sub-par in all respect except for my beer. So utterly disapointed vowing to never go back.
Surely the cook was having an off day or had no clue what he/she was doing. Why & who in their right mind, uses orange cheddar in nachos. Monterey Jack is the best & proper choice, while cheddar cools off too fast then becomes a hard coagulated lump. Whatever small cheese quantity was used, it was just thrown in the middle leaving 3/4 of chips bare. The sour cream was way to thick to dip. Salsa was gag inducing.
Just an awful plate of an otherwise meal that is so rediculously easy to make. Two monkeys could have done a better prep.
Beer was delicious however.
Ceasar's salad ? I do not have enough time to critique that attempt.
Never ever going back there again. Lame & only fit if you enjoy a third rate meal.
Get rid of the cook(s) or at the very least.. go back & learn the basics.
Makes me upset just to think about the raw deal & paying that amount.
What a gem! We went for a early Sunday dinner & had a lovely time.
The food was lovely. I have to say, the veggies were cooked perfectly 👌 they were hot & soft, with a bit of firmness still to them. So many places overcook veggies & the come so soft if not mushy.... but not here. The brightness they add to the plates was refreshing to see. The steaks my table had were cooked to a perfect temp. One had a medium & I had the mid-rare & you can see the difference. Both spot on.
The chicken dishes my other companions had were just as nice, & moist.
The service was attentive & very friendly. Dennis'the Menace' (our server) made us feel welcomed & feel like he knew us. He made a playful joke & the end that referenced a joke we made with him while serving. It showed he took an interest in us while we were there.
Look I could go on & explain that I was worried when I saw the menu had so many choices, & that I thought that they would not be able to keep it all fresh.... but saw no sign that ciuld be the case. Dont tell but even was checking out the other tables food.... their burger looked so appealing & I had just finished eatting.
I saw about a dozen beer on tap, & enough glassware hanging that I would bet that on a Friday or Sat it wiuld have a nice atmosphere.
If you are in the area this is a great place to go. Right off the highway & has such a charm to it.
I dont give 5 stars often but if I had to pick a complaint.... it would be that they brought the sauces for the main during the appetizer service. So I am not taking a star off for that.
Will most certainly go back again.
Was a great evening with friends & the roast beef was out of this world. We are planning our next outing brunch
Overall nice eating place, clearly the staff was well trained
They go the extra mile to ensure you have all you need. The service is fast & friendly. Had a wonderful dining experience at this restaurant. The atmosphere was warm & welcoming, making it perfect for a relaxed evening with friends. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, & every dish arrived beautifully presented. I especially loved the fresh ingredients & balanced flavors in each bite. From appetizers to dessert, everything tasted thoughtfully prepared & full of character. Portions were generous & prices felt fair for the quality. If you're looking for delicious food, friendly service, & a comfortable atmosphere, this place is definitely worth visiting. I will absolutely be coming back again very soon
Perfect spot to get together with friends. Nice atmosphere with the fireplaces & horsey theme. Filet melt is my favourite
I've been going to mon village for 40 years plus & the way the staff gaslite me today was unnecessary ..
to the girl behind the bar & the waitress that made me feel even worse today with the attitude you threw & the sharp sarcastic
I called & asked for a steak sandwich & a Caesar salad. Came to pick up my food got in the car noticed that there was no fries in my steak sandwich went back to ask why there was no fries. I wasn't angry or loud
She said that I didn't order the fries again. I suggested that there was a misunderstanding & she looked at me & she said yes, so sarcastically said yes I made a mistake. It was a back-&-forth & then I had another waitress come out & kind of say very loudly here you go! it's on the house!. Here's some fries on the house!. I never asked for anything to be on the house. I asked for a steak sandwich with an appetizer of a Caesar salad salad, & I got gaslit. Disgusting attitude from staff
We went to mon village just before christmas 2025. I asked if the French fries were thick cut. They said yes so I opted for the fries with my meal which was chicken brochette. When our meal arrived the brochette was cremated & charred, the peppers were black & the chicken was dry & horribly overcooked. Frankly it was inedible. The chips were cooked in oil that was patently very old, the fries were oil soaked, brown sour tasting & floppy. The best part of the meal was out of a packet, which was the pate. The bill was over 100 dollars including a glass of wine & a beer. It was far & away the worst meal I have had in 23 years of living in Canada. Dont order the fish & chips either. They were bad the time before when I went but I decided to give it one more chance. We wont be going ever again. If you must go, just go for a beer. The building is full of character.
At one time Mon Village Restaurant was the play to go & their french onion soup was the best , but last night experience was the worst !! First the roof was leaking on top of the head of my friend then they changed our sitting arrangement & brought up stairs where I had a broken chair after asking the waitress for a new chair..her comment was I don't know where to get another & started to take drink orders are you freaken kidding me. I had to stop her to find me another chair it took her about 10 minutes she came back with a chair with the center missing.. I had sit & not move .. when our order came another friend order mush potatoes & it was cold like they took it out of the fridge & never even try to attend to warm it up .. another friend & myself order the french onion soup & it had no onions & tasted like bread & broth cause that's what was in the soup bread !! Only bread totally disgusting & disappointed!!
What happened to at one time a very good restaurant now disgusting
This is one of the coziest places in the area. The menu offers a wide selection, but if you're looking for a more economical lunch, they have a dedicated page with excellent options. The fish & chips were absolutely delicious, featuring great battered fish with perfectly seasoned, huge fries.
Years ago the food was worth making the trip for but now it is bland & expensive for what you get. I had the roast beef sandwich au jus & the only good thing about it was the bread. There was not much meat & the dipping sauce was literally brown water. Coleslaw & fries were standard. The reuban sandwich was not much better, again the only good thing was the garlic bun that it came in. Definitely not worth the detour to go but ok if you are already in the area.
I've only eaten here twice & each time my friend & I sat in the garden behind the inn. When the weather permits, this is an incredibly pleasant place to enjoy a leisurely lunch.
A true gem in Hudson! Mon Village offers delicious food in a cozy & welcoming atmosphere. The service is friendly, & every dish feels homemade with care. Perfect spot for a memorable meal.
Wonderful restaurant.
Young staff eager to please & learn. They are Polite & Hospitable.
Special mention to NIK, our waiter.
Particularly Fabulous service from this young man. Charming & Courteous.
Will encourage friends & family to visit this gem
Resto is set in an old house full of charm, giving it a warm & cozy atmosphere that feels quite unique. It's definitely a different kind of spot, perfect if you're looking for something with character.
The service was good & friendly, but the food was just okay - nothing really stood out.
Friendly & efficient service. Food hot & delicious. Ambiance was wonderful experience.
Nice old style farmhouse. Wide menu selection. Menu could be more complete regarding what comes with your meal. Group of 12 for lunch, did not feel rushed. I had Fish & Chips, nice wide cut fries a little greasy but tasty. My wife had a Chicken Brochette was nice, again explanation of meal would have been helpful to avoid food intolerance.
