Sat at the bar & had my dinner there, great Bartender Jean L. , very knowledgeable & great conversationalist. Great service, had Steak Tartare, Ribeye… au poivre . Atmosphere is great & beers are fresh & crisp. Cocktails thumbs up.
Thanks to bartender Jean for making the eve great. Even got Profiteroles on the house as a buyback. Nice touch.

Super beau restaurant, assez chic. On a été très bien servi par notre serveur. La nourriture était très bonne. Mon plat de saumon était délicieux: C'était tendre & croustillant sur le dessus. Le tartare de boeuf & le hamburger de mes amis étaient très bon aussi, & les huitres en entrées aussi. C'était un peu chère, mais pour un resto au centre-ville & pour la qualité des assiettes ça valait la peine.

Delicious food, friendly staff, great ambiance. We ordered the filet mignon & beef tartare & the meals were exquisite. Our waitress Amelie was very attentive & pleasant. The manager Simon was also very cheerful & friendly. Thank you for the nice evening!

Wow mais quel beau restaurent & quoi dire du service #1. L'ambiance & la bouffe excellent ce n'est certainement pas la dernière visite pour nous. Je vous le recommande vraiment. Nous avons mangé le plateau de fruit de mer, le tartare de boeuf & la tarte key lime & tout était parfait. Un gros wow

Très déçu! Nous avons pris un tartare de boeuf - portion repas. La quantité minimaliste (une demi portion). C'était absolument sans goût. Les frites étaient ordinaires & pas très chaudes. & le prix du vin, dans les moins chers, sont à 70$ & l'huître à 4,50$ l'unité. Le service est très moyen. Il faut chercher le serveur. J'y suis allé à plusieurs reprises dans le passé. Je n'y retournerai pas. 🥺 Dommage.

Belle découverte!! L' entrée de calmar excellente. Je n' ai jamais mangé un tartare de boeuf aussi bon. Le service de Chanelle était impeccable & de bon conseil pour l accord met & vin!

I recently dined at Méchant Boeuf in Montreal & had a great experience overall. The service was outstanding, attentive, & friendly, which made our meal enjoyable. We tried the steak tartare, which had a unique kick, setting it apart from other tartares I've tasted. It was flavorful & had a nice texture. We also ordered the poutine with brisket; while the poutine was delicious, I felt the brisket could have used a bit more seasoning to enhance its flavor. The restaurant is in a great location, making it a convenient spot to enjoy a meal. I would definitely recommend it & give it four stars!

The food was just average & they are small portions. Mt daughter had the short ribs & it was a big bone with very little meat. I had the beef tartare & it could not have been more than 4 Oz of beef. Seriously? I would not go again

Nous avons eu un serveur qui semblait peu familier avec la routine du restaurant,il a commandé nos plats mais il semble que le bon a été perdu dans la cuisine!Donc bref l'attente fut longue car le temps de réaliser que nous n'avions pas reçu nos plats cela faisait au moins une bonne heure & demie que nous attendions! heureusement le dj avec un peu de bruit de fond a pu nous faire patienter!points positifs les petits pains chaud délicieux le tartare de boeuf exquis & tagliatelles au fruits de mers excellent!Un gros merci à Simon le gérant qui a été transparent avec nous & nous a expliqué la situation,remplis nos verres de vins,offert deux entrées, des macarons & un shooter!ces petites attention ont été très appréciées .je recommande ce restaurant car malgré cette petite bévue nous avons bien mangés & remarqué l'effort du gérant de vouloir satisfaire ses clients & ça selon moi c'est très important & cela démontre de la classe!un client satisfait en vaut deux!Merci Simon à la prochaine!

We ordered sirloin steak & beef tartare with fries & it was just ok! We were two & the table was really close to the next people. Felt like I could have had a conversation with them. It wasn't our kind of vibe. Our server did not come around often. I think the manager ended up giving us the bill.

My evening at Méchant Boeuf, located in Old Montreal's charming Vieux-Port, was a delightful mix of culinary delights & a few drawbacks. Opting to dine on a Monday night, we found the dining room unusually quiet, with only a handful of patrons seated at the bar. Our hostess & waitress proved to be attentive professionals. The service was impeccable from the start, with a warm attitude & thoughtful recommendations. We kicked off the evening by savoring a delicious Amaretto Sour, my personal favorite, & the Feeling Spicy, a bold concoction of Hennessy VS cognac, lemon juice, bitters, & lavender syrup. The cocktails were well-balanced, leaving a positive first impression. As for the appetizers, the pork dumplings were satisfactory, though their likely frozen origin was discernible. In contrast, the beef tartare was a pleasant surprise, generously portioned & tastefully seasoned. For the main courses, we opted for the NY strip steak with pepper sauce, accompanied by Monte Cristo potatoes, & the ribeye steak. The dishes were flavorful, well-prepared, & featured generous portions. The quality of ingredients & culinary expertise shone through. However, the experience was marred by the noisy ambiance created by patrons at the bar. Their boisterous behavior, with no regard for the tranquility of others, could have been better managed by the restaurant staff. Unfortunately, the servers did not take initiative to address the noise, negatively impacting our overall enjoyment of the evening. Despite this drawback, Méchant Boeuf remains a recommendable spot for its enticing flavors & professional service. I would suggest, however, carefully choosing the timing of your visit to avoid a overly loud atmosphere, especially if you seek a more serene & intimate dining experience.

LONG BUT WORTH KNOWING. As a server, I know this isn't right!
To kick things off I'd like to say that the portion sizes & flavours of the meals are great.
Our service however, was bitter-sweet. Our waiter was polite & helpful with the menu & fast to come take our drink orders. As a server myself, I find what happens next absolutely appalling. I ordered the salmon tartare as my appetizer, yet, only 25 minutes AFTER placing the order did the waiter come to inform me that they were out of salmon & instead offered me beef tartare (which I accepted, but never received). Some 20-30 minutes later the main dishes started arriving to our table, all except two. My boyfriend had ordered a steak (probably the fastest food you can order from a kitchen..) that he never got, so I quickly asked the waiter about how much longer it would be & he looked at me with a blank stare. He apologized for having FORGOTTEN to place the order & proceeds to explain that the kitchen is now closed. After waiting over an hour for an appetizer & main meal, we never received. No substitute food options were offered, that was it. My boyfriend would have to sit there & watch the rest of us eat our meals...
While this was going on with us, our friend across from us was speaking to the manager. Apparently he ordered a salmon tartare that never came & posed if he could have the beef & the manager told him there was none of that left either. Interesting side note, the waiter offered me beef tartare didn't he? I never got it though. So the friend then explains to the MANAGER that he is hungry, he'll take a burger, anything fast. The manager says "I'm very sorry but the kitchen is closed, you guys can share..." I sincerely hope this was a joke. Then he tells my friend that he can offer him a round of SHOTS for the table instead. Instead of ANY FORM OF FOOD THAT HE HAD ORDERED. Needless to say, my friend refused. We came there to eat, when you take an order it is your JOB to make sure the customers get the food they ORDERED. & I find it offensive to be offered SHOTS as a meal replacement. I've never heard of a manager anywhere offering a liquor replacement to someone who ordered food. As I said, I am a server as well. If I screw up someone's order I will ensure that the customer gets a MEAL they are happy with instead. Or a discount? Nope, get wasted on an empty stomach!

L'ambiance est vibrante, bonne musique & bon choix au menu. J'y suis allee avec des amis pour un anniversaire & en tant que vegetarienne je n'avait qu'un choix de plat, le vege burger. Il etait mediocre, mais je comprend que c'est un endroit peu propoce a recevoir des gens veges comme moi.

Mes camarades ont aimé leur experience mais ont été decus du tartare de boeuf, qui laissait à desirer.

Bref, l'ambiance est bonne, mais la nourriture pourrait etre meilleure au prix payé.
