We had a great time! Steaks & drinks were great but it has to be said the service was top notch. Sarah was on point, super friendly, & pretty funny. Its a great place & we'll definitely be back due to how great the food & service was.
The restaurant itself & the food was good. But to pay this much for the service is really tough. I have time to sit here & leave a review because I've been waiting to pay for 25 minutes now. The table next to us waited for 20 min to order drinks & no one came so they got up & left, completely ridiculous for an expensive steak house. I'd try elsewhere where they take care of their guests better, our server was kind but only waited on table all night. It's not slammed busy so I'm not sure why the service is so minimal.
The French onion soup was amazing. Wonderful filet mignon. Espresso martini, & The Pink Dove were great drinks. I recommend this place if you're in Montreal.
First time ever walking out of a restaurant. The server was incredibly rude & snide from the start without any provocation.
1) He became visibly angry & frustrated towards me just for letting him know that I was ready to order
2) He intentionally played dumb & pretended to not know what I wanted because I presumably was not pronouncing the menu item properly even when pointing to the item on the menu.
3) He also got angry at my date for asking for an Arnold Palmer because it wasn't listed explicitly on the drink menu.
Why any restaurant would keep such a miserable person on their front of house staff is beyond me.
We had a large group & the place was busy. It took a while to get our drinks & food. However, they were still very professional even with the delay. They also gave us a few complementary boxes of mini desserts because we hadn't ordered any, primarily due to the fact that the appetizer portions were so large & we were full after the main course. Highly recommend!

Had a really good dinner at Méchant Boeuf. The salmon filet was perfectly cooked with a crispy skin & a rich white butter sauce that tied it all together. The fried calamari were just right: crispy, well-seasoned, & not greasy.
We wrapped things up with the key lime pie, fresh & not too sweet, a great way to end the meal.
Shoutout to Kamel for the friendly service, & to Jean for one of the best Old Fashioneds I've had in a while.
Good food, solid drinks, chill vibe. I'll definitely be back.
Fantastic experience at Méchant Boeuf. We were celebrating a milestone anniversary & had a reservation after Aura at the basilica.
Our server, Sarah R., offered us complimentary dessert instead of the usual glass of prosecco as she noticed we were looking at the mocktails menu. It was such a nice gesture & we were amazed that she noticed we were not having alcohol before we actually ordered.
We discussed with her our plan to order a filet & a strip steak & she suggested that we might do better to share a porterhouse which would be aged. This was a perfect solution for us - we were able to get the aged steaks for close to the same price as the individual non-aged steaks & the shared dish was a nice touch for our anniversary.
Our mocktails were great (we really appreciate it when restaurants offer fancy drinks without alcohol).The steaks were perfectly done (medium rare) & we especially enjoyed the mashed potatoes with egg yolk. The key lime pie for dessert was delicious (a personal favorite of ours). The food was all very satisfying & enjoyable.
Sarah R. really helped make our night feel special. She was observant, helpful & attentive, but not obtrusive in any way. She provided some of the best service we received on our trip to Montreal & felt very lucky for choosing Méchant Boeuf for our celebration.
Thiis place was fantastic. From service to food. I had the onion soup, & beef short ribs, & my girlfriend had the seafood tagliatelle. It was all delicious. After our meal we had a drink at the bar to catch the hockey game. We enjoyed some khalua Rhum coffees & peroni's. We will be visiting méchant Boeuf again absolutely. Thank you for a great evening.

We decided to stop into Mechant Boeuf for a drink at the bar since we had eaten a very late lunch while touring Montreal. The inside of the restaurant is absolutely stunning; kudos to the designer. I ordered a Cosmopolitan, & my husband ordered the Le Peche drink. Both drinks were delicious, but the Le Peche was OMG delicious. I took a sip & I still can't stop thinking about it. We then decided to order the salmon dinner which came with brussel sprouts & potatoes. Oh my goodness, it was amazingly delicious. We then got the Brookie dessert which was also very good. My only disappointment is that we weren't in Montreal long enough to have a sit down dinner at Mechant Boeuf, but it's the first restaurant on our list to go to when we return to Montreal.
Unfortunately, I do not remember our bartenders name, but he was very nice.
Emma was super fun & we were very impressed by the whole experience. Our food was amazing, & delicious, the drinks were super, & we highly recommend Mechant Boeuf to everyone! 10/10
Valter is extremely polite, very thorough & never forgot any items we asked for. He suggested drinks to pair our food with & was just absolutely wonderful. Would come here again in hopes of getting him as our waiter.
it was my friend & I's first time in Montreal & the staff was so welcoming!! we had kamel & he was very sweet & accommodating. the food was delicious as well as the drinks. i high recommend:)

Wish I could give this place ten stars!! The food was incredible but the service was even better. Our drinks never went empty. Kamel /Chamel the best server. He was so helpful & informative & literally always had a smile on
We popped into Old Montreal for New Year's Eve & had the best time at Hotel Nelligan & specifically Mechant Boeuf. The sweetest gal greeted us as the most assertive & helpful hostess. It was so obvious she was committed to seating us promptly. Because we had a slight wait, she sent bubbles to the table. We watched her serve the restaurant in any capacity, attending to tables with drink service & a smile. Our waiter, Valter, was efficient & patient with a very difficult table next to us, & we noticed many pleased patrons under his service. Absolutely top notch service from entry to exit!! We will be back!
Emma was our waitress & she was amazing the best service we had in a long time made our night so much more fun :) we sat at the bar had a couple drinks witch were so delicious & her suggestions were right on point :) thanks again for the amazing service we will be back :)
