Visited Le Méchant Boeuf last night & they truly went above & beyond. Even though a few items on the menu weren't available, the team made it an unforgettable experience-starting with a glass of champagne & ending with delicious desserts on the house.
A huge thank you to Amélie & our server, who were absolutely perfect-friendly, attentive, & made the evening feel so special. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience!
This restaurant is beautiful & romantic, with the exposed brick & dim lights inside. Our server, Sarah, was the most kind, attentive & polite. She made our anniversary night perfect. We had the seafood platter to start. It was incredibly fresh. For entrees we had the short rib & rib steak & both were flavourful & delicious. highly recommended.

Simon was extremely attentive & genuinely courteous. He took the time to explain things we were unsure of & made us feel comfortable. Highly recommend the scallops.

Come here for a relaxing dinner experience after visiting AURA at Basilica Notre Dame. It's just a block away. Food was superb! I ordered the bearnaisse sauce with my filet mignon, but the filet was so perfectly prepared & seasoned that it seemed a shame to add anything else! Same with the seasonal roasted vegetables. The service was very attentive but not intrusive. The atmosphere was elegant but not'stuffy' or pretentious. Each table has its own small lamp, which offsets the low lighting throughout & gives a sense of having the place to yourself, even with other diners nearby. This dining experience was on of the highlights of my trip to Montreal,

I recently had the steak & shrimp at The Merchant Boeuf, & it was absolutely outstanding. The steak was cooked to perfection - tender, juicy, & bursting with flavor - while the shrimp were perfectly seasoned & grilled just right. The combination of the two was pure indulgence.
Everything from the presentation to the portion size showed real attention to detail. The sides complemented the meal beautifully, & the sauce tied it all together perfectly. The staff were friendly, attentive, & made sure everything was spot on from start to finish.
The atmosphere was warm & inviting, with a lively energy that made the evening even more enjoyable. Whether you're a steak lover or just looking for an exceptional dining experience in Montreal, The Merchant Boeuf is a must-visit. I'll definitely be coming back!
We had Valter & he could not have been more kind, attentive & professional. I asked him if I could practice my French with him & he so graciously & patiently practiced & taught me things throughout the dinner. 11/10 service! The food was alright, but the Cesar salad was amazing! I'd go back just to see Valter again! Merci beaucoup, Valter!!!
We were visiting from Edmonton & had a wonderful experience at Méchant Boeuf! The service was outstanding - our server, Valter, was friendly, attentive, & so kind with our kids. Our teens are in French immersion & were excited to practice their French on this trip. They did all the ordering for the table, & Valter & the staff encouraged them, making it extra special.
The food was excellent - beautifully prepared & delicious. Two members of our family have celiac disease, & the staff were very knowledgeable & accommodating with gluten-free options.
Overall, a fantastic dining experience that we'd highly recommend!
We were fortunate to get a table for two without a reservation. Atmosphere was outstanding. The fish & chips offered the best tempura battered cod we have ever had. Our excellent server, Julien, was friendly & attentive. The rest of the staff provided exceptional service as well.
Our waitress Sarah R. was amazing! Great service & great conversation. She was very attentive & rolled with all our jokes. Will come back just to live another amazing experience with her :).

The menu was diverse for all types of eaters. The food was well seasoned & delicious (fyi - the ribs are a healthy portion, 2 ppl care share one serving).

One of My Best Dining Experiences This Year so Far.
I visited Méchant Boeuf for a farewell dinner on my last night in Montreal, & it was nothing short of exceptional.
I arrived about 10 minutes before my host, who had made the reservation. The hostess greeted me with a warm smile, was incredibly friendly, & seated me right away, a lovely welcome to what would become a memorable evening.
The atmosphere struck a perfect balance between elegant & cozy, ideal for fine dining but still inviting & relaxed. The space was beautifully designed, & it's easy to see why both tourists & locals return time & again. My hosts have dined here often & always had great things to say.
We started with the fried calamari, which was crisp, perfectly seasoned, & full of flavor, a great opener. For the main course, our group shared the largest tomahawk steak on the menu. It came with generous sides & was cooked to a flawless medium rare. Juicy, tender, & flavorfu, it needed no extra seasoning at all. Easily the best steak I've had in quite some time.
Our meal was perfectly complemented by a wine recommended by our attentive & knowledgeable waiter, Simon. He gave us an excellent breakdown of the beef selection process & cooking techniques & helped us find the ideal wine pairing for our meal.
Although we didn't order dessert, we were pleasantly surprised with two boxes of bite-sized sweets to share, a thoughtful touch that ended the night on a high note.
This was easily one of my best restaurant experiences of the year. I highly recommend Méchant Boeuf & would absolutely return. Reservations are recommended!

We had an amazing evening in a setting. The meat was absolutely delicious - incredibly tender & cooked to perfection (special mention to the Bavette, truly outstanding!).
Service was flawless, & we'd like to give a special shoutout to Emma, who was incredibly kind, attentive, & professional throughout our meal. Her warm & genuine approach truly elevated our experience.
Highly recommend this place for both the food quality & the exceptional service. Thank you we'll definitely be back!
